Another Moorestown kid, about whom NJBill might've given us insights. Gee, too bad.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 11:42 am Jenna Slowey has joined the Notre Dame women’s lacrosse program as an assistant coach.
Re: Coaching Carousel
I know nothing about this coach, was never on my radar and have no idea whether she will ultimately be better than the previous coach. But, it is great to see someone like this get a shot at a head coaching job. She has been coaching in various assistant positions at least 6 D3 and most recently D1 schools, all over the country for 12+ years and played collegiately at a school that none of us probably follow (Springfield college).
If you are not a former star player or come from a pedigreed coaching tree, getting a HC job is such a grind. You literally have to be willing to move jobs every couple of years anywhere in the country to climb the ladder. It's easy to get fixated on the big names and top programs, but they are the exceptions and hires like this are the norm.
So good luck to her and VCU!

Flores getting the job is terrific. Congrats to her. Worked very hard and in a lot of different places to earn this opportunity. VERY UNUSUAL these days.

I LOVE this kind of hire! Look at her resume and the depth of her coaching experience. I know a lot of you D1 Elitists will say "Why didn't they hire a D1 assistant from a top program? Because good coaching comes from those that you often dismiss. Being a really good player from a really good program does NOT guarantee that same success as a Head Coach. It more depends on the ability of the HC to communicate, delegate, teach and oversee. Success also depends on the commitment of the Athletic Administration to the program. That comes through in scholarships, budget and admissions.
Best of luck to Coach Flores.

I know another UNC player, Ally Messinger, who was also an assistant at one point, maybe she was elevated after Capuzzi left?seacoaster wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 4:42 pmWho were they? Devlin? Re: Coaching Carousel
Maybe Cindy Timchal took Clemson and they are going with her but since Clemson haven’t announced her yet they can’t post the HC role. Just a wild guesswlaxphan20 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 4:35 pm IWLCA website has postings for both Associate Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions at the USNA, posted yesterday

Kelly Devlin may also have gone for the Drexel job since she is a Philly native.

Yep, that’s what I was thinking. I also wonder how many girls will transfer out of Hartford… it has the potential to be a really great D3 programwlaxphan20 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 12:38 pmMakes sense since Hartford is leaving Division 1, I hope it works out better than Hartford
