That is their kryptonite cradle. No one likes to be told what to do or how to think....and yet, their political side tells them all the time what to do and what to think.
Nope, not at all. We constantly get asked "who are the "sane", "moderate" republicons out there today. How 'bout THIS then YA...give us YOUR opinion about the subject, if you dare. Don't let anybody tell you what to write now...
the whole WORLD is wondering this these days. Why? because by all indications, Donald Trump and his "philosophy", his "business acumen", his "populism"...is what the GOP is all about these days. Don't cross him or you'll get yer tail primaried by a more suitable candidate willing to suborn his or her political positions to those of Duce.
All WE'RE doing most of the time is looking for an actual partner in governing...you know, like there USED TO BE in the republic party.
Not these knuckleheads that can talk about nothing more than "the Steal".
..
I truly wished all you and the other side were looking for is a partner in governing....at least until each side can stab their adversary in the back. Was it not Kamala that dammed near slit Joe's throat in the primary. GMAFB, politics is a no holds barred fight, Trump just took it to a completely 'nother level and it worked, at first, then he effed up and doubled down, rather than STFU.
Biden has been great, at least thus far, in calming the water....just keep our fingers crossed he doesn't pop a hole in the boat.
Indeed, as the great philosopher said "Politics ain't bean bag".
But what Kamala tried to do, unsuccessfully, was a marshmallow in comparison to what we're seeing, a rhetorical jab and flourish to distinguish herself from the pack...and ultimately it was not rewarded by any increased support among Dems...but forgiven by Biden as mere jousting in the political process. (Can you imagine though, forgiving someone for saying your dad was involved in assignation of JFK and that your wife is butt ugly??)
But our challenge right now, youth, is that the GOP has gone all-in, all chips pushed forward, in this 'game' for power. No holds barred, no regard for the law much less truth.
Truly way, way beyond the pale...and it really isn't simply Trump, though certainly he's the biggest single actor in the play.
By example, McConnell's 'game' of total, all-out obstruction was rewarded over and over again by the base, and his crowning 'achievement' was the disgraceful handling of SCOTUS. Absolutely no regard for truth or norms, all-in for power.
I agree with those who see the purges of the party as the true bellwether of what to expect going forward. Cheney being only the most recent. When John McCain, Mitt Romney, Jeff Flake, John Kasich types become pariahs in the party, booed by fellow Republicans, we know that 'conservatism' has been fully replaced by something else much, much darker. Downright sinister.
