cradle, we're on a Politics section of the forum, discussing the Insurrection in specific, including all the ridiculous things the right wing politicians and media are spewing as distractions to that topic.
One of those distractions is the notion that there's some sort of justifiable reaction to the social and racial justice movement, that caused Jan 6. Carlson is one of those spewing such. With an immense audience.
You're free to ignore this discussion, just as you're free to ignore the media.
But others of us are discussing what we want, thank you.

Tucker is a favorite of White Supremacists. This is a fact. It doesn't mean he's necessarily a racist, let alone a vehement racist, but... It doesn't help his case. My experience with defining whether a person is a racist (or other types of bigots) or not is if someone is more racist than the person doing the evaluating. In other words, there's little to no objectivity in defining a racist, always subjective. With this said, though admittedly subjective, Tucker reeks of racism, reeks of bigotry. In the US, he is the currently reigning king of trolls.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:03 pm cradle, we're on a Politics section of the forum, discussing the Insurrection in specific, including all the ridiculous things the right wing politicians and media are spewing as distractions to that topic... That's fair, however I'd go a step further and say that Carlson welcomes that audience, panders to that audience, inflames that audience...on purpose, repeatedly...and if you aren't a racist, you'd never do so. Same for other bigotries.Matnum PI wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:37 pmTucker is a favorite of White Supremacists. This is a fact. It's a choice. And Carlson consciously makes that choice.
Which isn't to say that we all don't have some elements of bigotries, often unconsciously so. So, sure, there's an element of one's perspective. For instance, if someone is quite bigoted, though mostly unconsciously, one may have a difficult time recognizing that sort of bigotry in others. They may just seem 'rational; to them.
So, to me this conscious choice by Carlson is what enables us, or at least many of us, to see it more clearly.

well, in theory, that could be the case...as his daughter's pals told me a half decade ago...just an act.
But I don't think one could successfully do this act without it being true to character as well. Otherwise, man, he's some 'actor' when he gets going, face red, and viciously spewing. Oscar.
But I see it as he's consciously choosing to 'be racist'. And he's ok with being a racist.
Of course, he'd deny it.

Did white supremacy exist in the 80’s, 90’s, and early aughts (I don’t seem to remember anything), or did the internet simply give liberal race hustlers something to talk about other than their cities falling to pieces? Baltimore has wide swaths of their city which are worse than any third world country’s but all MD can ever discuss is Tucker Carlson. Makes you wonder.
Here’s the easiest bet I can make. Tucker Carlson has more black friends than any white lacrosse guy posting on these boards.

There are occasional exceptions. Not sure on Wagner but the Nazis bastardized Nietzsches work worse than religious zealots do to find support in his writings which would be a (rare-ish) example of an exception to that rule IMOTypical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:40 pmMy bar is “racists believe he’s on their side”…..Matnum PI wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:37 pmTucker is a favorite of White Supremacists. This newly forming Select Committee to investigate the January 6th insurrection is going to reveal a lot about the origins, and the ONGOING activity going on to overthrow the long-evolving multiracial democracy here in the US of A.
There are several veteran-centered far-right organizations out there ready to help MAGA Nation overturn the 2020 election.
it needs to be exposed. It WILL be exposed. Get ready to defend the investigation...

Yep. It all makes sense now. The new emerging narrative => the Jan 6th insurrection was a manifestation of White Rage.
Not surprising, when you think about it. What is surprising is that our senior military officer, who publicly scolded himself for appearing political, would be the advance element in rolling out this new narrative. Irony abounds.

Since when is this a 'new narrative'???old salt wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 5:39 pmYep.
Immediately when it happened, there was lots of attention to the whiteness of the mob and most particularly to the side by side waving of Confederate flags, the Auschswitz t-shirt, the QAnon shirts and banners, alongside the Trump and American flags as if all were one and the same, one huge happy family of insurrectionists. And then attention to various white supremacist groups in the vanguard.
So, yeah 'white rage' noted at the outset.
You yourself argued that the high percentage of the ex-military in the early arrested group was not likely reflective of the total rioters and shouldn't be seen as an indicator of anything, but there were concerns being expressed even then that there was an overlap in recruitment of veterans by the white supremacist/militia groups and as well that there had been expressed strategies by these groups to recruit active service members as well...you objected. All of that was in the immediate aftermath.
The concern early on (and still now) is that we were very, very close to a successful insurrection, actually supported by the military on the order of the outgoing President. We now learn that Trump was furious with Milley for not supporting this effort, just as he was furious with Barr for refuting the Big Lie. Screaming mad...how close were we? close.
So, understanding this 'white rage' and how it manifests is very serious business.
