Langley lacrosse - slowest game on two feet. Saw a lot of standing around while one guy tried to beat the Yorktown defense. Has the Langley coach ever heard of off-ball motion?
Better stay out of Maryland with that nonsense.

Thanks for the reminder. That game will haunt me for the rest of my days.FXLax wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 10:14 pm Guys I was being sarcastic about the Yorktown state championships. However one of the greatest NoVa lax games I’ve seen was 2014 regional semifinals Yorktown vs Robinson. Amazing game - that Yorktown team was loaded. Both Pollacks, Tiene, Harwood(maybe wrong name he went to Robert Morris I think), Shears, Cason Liles and my boy Alec Turner vs a Robinson team that would win 18 in a row and their first of 3 ¡0straight state championships. Rams got up early, Yorktown dominated time of possession. Key 4th quarters goals by White and Jasien were huge and all I need to say is Nick Kondracki stood on his head in the 4th quarter as Rams killed off several shaky calls. That year only 2 went to states from the region so loser was done. 10-8 Robo

There will definitely be some good matchups in the Yorktown vs Robinson game. Both teams have studs on O and both teams have D players who can stop those studs, but I'm sure certain players will rise to the occasion and win matchups that old, washed up guys on a forum, say they won't win. (I'm one of those old, washed up guys too, don't get me wrong).Crolax wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 8:10 pm 6A Final Four... Yorktown vs Robinson on Tuesday should be a much closer game than most are expecting. Look for Yorktown's defense to cut down on Robinson's explosiveness. I see #31 on Yorktown matching up just fine vs #21 on Robinson. Others on both teams will have to step up in this matchup. I look for Yorktown to get the win in a very close game.
Battlefield travels to Cosby on Tuesday in the other semi game. Cosby is a good team for the Richmond area but they are no match for Battlefield. Battlefield may have the stingiest defense in the state and they have explosive players on O. Battlefield Vs Yorktown in the title game...
Wasn't trying to sway you, I understand you are taking Yorktown to win and I respect that opinion, as well as the Battlefield to win it all prediction. But, I just don't think either team is going to be able to outscore Robinson. That offense is rolling like a well-oiled machine right now, and they have too many guys who can create scoring opportunities. Depth and experience are major factors in states, and Robinson has both.Crolax wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 10:57 pm Solid write up but I’ll still stick with Yorktown over Robinson in a close one.
Patriot HS was loaded this yr with quality on O & D. Fairchild, Fernandez… great goalie…etc. Patriot would have defeated Madison and Langley this year. Unfortunately they don’t get to go to states because Battlefield handled them 2 games in a row. The spotlight has been on Robinson all year but I wouldn’t be shocked if Battlefield win this in the end.
Yorktown deserves the hype, wouldn't you say? They are undefeated, have a very well rounded team, and have taken down much stiffer competition to reach this game. Don't know too much about Battlefield except they are always well coached and have a stout defense. This game is going to be a battle of the goalies. I'm thinking a low scoring state championship, but Yorktown probably has more weapons on offense, which will be the difference in the game. Prediction: Yorktown 6 Battlefield 4. Coach Beer gets his first State Championship and the Yorktown cow bells haunt Battlefield's nightmaresCrolax wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 5:13 pm Yorktown has been getting the hype all season long and they are heavily favored in the finals. Battlefield has been a team that seems to get little respect but they handle their business in a blue collar lunch pale fashion. Battlefield over Yorktown in a memorable defensive battle.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Oakton beat Langley by 5 in the regular season, and only lose to Madison by 2? And Chantilly lost in OT to Madison. Oakton and Chantilly were no slouches by any means, and Robinson beat both of them by 10 or more. So to say Robinson lost it's only two tough games, is simply not true.123 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 7:30 am Battlefield by 2 in the final. Yorktown prone to some bad turnovers and penalties, will catch up with them tonight. Yorktown if you are reading this, it is still not too late to self correct.
Not to take any credit from the winner who will have earned it, this year seems more like a rock/paper/scissors with matchups compared with some recent years where there were more dominant teams. How good was Robinson who lost both of their only tough games?
