Re: Hobart 2022
Do not count on Knox returning. If he does, great! If he's not back, expect Madonna to be on attack with Bach on the 1st midfield. Also expect to see Durkin as the 4th attackman. Maybe one of the sophomores (Ward?) makes the jump to "getting it". Big question is do we get a healthy Delaney? The coaches had high expectations for him in the fall. Unfortunately, he caught the FY injury bug as did most of this years FY at one point or another. Expect to see Romm & Sampson at SSDM. Romm may become a real 2-way player as Baltzer did this season. Need more strength at SSDM. While our guys put in a lot of hard work, they were often overmatched in terms of size and strength. For almost all of this years freshmen, it was strictly a learning year. They all need to make the leap. coming into fall ball. There are rumors of a few of this years seniors coming back. Some played key roles. We'll have to wait to see. As far as the incoming FYs are concerned, none are coming in with a lot of hype/expectations. That doesn't mean there are nice surprises (Aslanian anyone) in this group.

Great points! Very interesting to hear about the Senior rumor. Just did a quick review of the 2021 commencement list. Absent from the list were the following seniors:
Hurley (LSM), Imburgia (LSM), Keane (D), Lambert (M), Mueller (D).

‘22 off and running…
I’ve also heard that a number of seniors are planning to return.
Doubtful on Knox
Hopefully the boys spend the summer staying healthy
Rehabbing injuries and working on fundamentals
A 2022 season in which everyone has their stick skills tuned up and less unforced errors would be a nice way to start

Re: Hobart 2022
Don't mean to intrude but what's the story with Knox? Was he hurt? Prolific goal scorer his first two years but didn't play much this past season, and now it seems like he's not expected back? Siena has to be happy about that.
Re: Hobart 2022
Also off topic but are Aslanian and Brown the only Hobart guys in the PLL right now? I've noticed in the roster releases the league doesn't highlight the schools they players attended. Chris only had one shot in the last game but Brown didn't play (maybe he's injured).

Good news on the incoming class. Nolan Firth out of CNS HS was named a NY Section III AA. Anyone have any information on any of the other incoming FYs?

long time reader first time poster... have heard the colleges approved a 1 year masters in management program set to launch next year and that a few seniors are returning to play and enroll in the new grad program. is it time for Hobart to start targeting grad transfers? last season some upper/middle of the pack programs benefitted from adding grad transfers such as High Point, Vermont, Hofstra and Delaware. I think Hobart can be considered in a similar realm lacrosse wise to these teams and I could argue Hobart is better than all 4 academically given the schools reputation and strong alumni network. could be a pretty good way to plug some holes...

Not really Raymond’s MO. Plus it’s pretty expensive for a generic 1ur masters but it might keep a graduated eligible kid around.twistercity wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 10:31 am long time reader first time poster... have heard the colleges approved a 1 year masters in management program set to launch next year and that a few seniors are returning to play and enroll in the new grad program. is it time for Hobart to start targeting grad transfers? last season some upper/middle of the pack programs benefitted from adding grad transfers such as High Point, Vermont, Hofstra and Delaware. Last notable inbound transfer was Brendan Saylor who got squeezed out at Maryland due to the Rambo class and is from the Roch area. Before that I think Jamie Kirk and Mark Williamson (and Ryan Korn) under Kerwick.

Re: Hobart 2022
Sticker price won't be the same as undergraduate. Also, all bets off with the extra eligibility floating around. Transfers would be great, but the best recent transfer was PJ Delpha from Onondaga Community College. We need more like him.

Re: Hobart 2022
As FFG said, Hobart isn't a graduate transfer destination. Doubt Coach Raymond would take a player for a 1 year stint. He want's a team of guys who wanted to be at Hobart from the beginning of their college careers. Hope that the rumors I'm hearing about 5th year's are true. The FYs in '21 were , for the most part, just getting into gear by season's end. Hope a lot of them are up to snuff as sophomores. Otherwise will will essentially have 22+ FY's this fall. Get to work gentlemen.....

I don’t consider Juco as transfers but fair enough. Always thought MIke White should’ve done more for us he was also OCC. is our boy Chuck Wilbur still there?

Not sure what happened with him. Talented, yes! I know he did not suit up for the last 3 games of the season, reason(s) unknown. Was it a medical or other issue. Preferably, he stays in Geneva. If not, I wish him well wherever he may end up.

Re: Hobart 2022
I took a quick look at the stats from the 2021 season (https://www.ncaa.com/stats/lacrosse-men/d1). Confirms what I saw on the field i.e. basically "middle of the pack" in all categories with the exception of top tier performance at the faceoff x and extremely poor shooting and EMO offense. I've listed the teams rankings (and the best and worst for context) below. I'm very interested to see how graduation losses, potential grad school returnees, and potential of the 2024 class impacts these #'s for next year. I'd definitely be interested in hearing everyone's thoughts.

Re: Hobart 2022
Man-up & shooting are terrible. GBs really need to improve. Wish there was a statistic for unforces TOs. Pretty sure the team would be a top 10 in that stat. Shooting is staying after practice with a bucker or 2 of balls and working on mechanics and placement. Man-up is on the OC. Figure it out. It cost the team 2 key games. The 2022 team will essentially have 2 FY classes on the roster. Time for some to play above their limited experience.

looking at those stats:
its the defense; attitude, toughness, position, talking and basic team defense awareness all seem to be lacking according to those defensive stats.
