Indeed. Seven seconds left on the shot clock and snuck that baby in there....no room for anything but a bullseye.
Was thinking about you, congrats, that's a big one.

Congratulations to RIT on winning their first National Championship! And congratulations to Salisbury too on a very good season though I’m sure it stings now they’ll look back one day and know they participated in “one for the ages”. As a fan that has no allegiance to either team, thanks to both teams and coaches. This game put the best of DIII lacrosse on display and you all did the division proud. Well done!
It is very good for the sport that the last 3 National Champions were first time winners ... the game is strong and growing and this is proof it’s only getting stronger.

Pretty solid final rankings, a couple points. First, Colorado Mesa is DII (you had them at 78). Second is that I would have put CNU at 3 York 4,and Col. College higher. Third is to Mr. Lax, Grove City finished at 100 and I wonder how the remainder of your polls 1-3 did?Matnum PI wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 6:29 pm D3 MEN 2021 Champions: RIT

You would put a six-loss team at #3 and would put York at #4, ranked ahead of a team that beat them by ten goals?Unknown Participant wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 8:34 pm Second is that I would have put CNU at 3 York 4,

-CC... Their issue is that they only have 1 quality W (though it's a good one). They need more. And, since they don't have better wins...
-CNU... CNU's ranking is weighed down by their loss to CC.

Recency bias I guess. Thinking about tournament results. I did not go back and look at the season. Coach Berkman....OK fellaz, you remember youth hoops inbounds play, we are gonna run "Stack", everyone get in a line and and the first 4 turn around and set screens for the last guy that will pop out for the shot.
If it worked, pure genus.

Rewatched this play over and over and over and it's clear that the Sal dman purposely steps into the RIT attackman with a shoulder. Ref was right on it. Unfortunately for Sal, the ball carrier politely places the ball on the ground, offers zero obstruction, and allows RIT to go off to the races.
Impartial opinion. Good call.

RIT 1, Salisbury 2, Tufts 3. Cannot be argued in any way shape or form that these were not the three best teams in the country this year.

hoss, c'mon, my friend. this is a forum. we could argue absolutely anything...

Re: 2021 Tournament
Congrats to RIT, what a fantastic game. Felt like I was watching Salisbury-Cortland 2006 or Syracuse-Cornell 2009. Instant, gut-wrenching classic (depending who you root for!).
When Salisbury turned the ball over with 18 seconds to play, why was the RIT player allowed a running restart of a good 10 yards before the clock started? It all happened so fast but it sure seemed like RIT was off to the races before the clock had a chance to tick. Fantastic, heads up play on their end...but was that kosher or excessively opportunistic or was the timekeeper just slow to react? And that passing and finish...even as a Salisbury fan, you gotta admit a beautiful thing when you see it.
More important questions -
There's always an argument who is better, top of D2 or top of D3. I'd love to hear Larson Sundown's point of view given that he competed at a high level in both divisions.
Is there a changing of the guard in D3? The Gulls "only" won 4 of the past 12 titles (Salisbury 4, Tufts 3, RIT, Cortland, Cabrini, Wesleyan, Stevenson). Seems like 2019 and 2021 will be coulda, woulda, shoulda years but kudos to Cabrini and RIT for stunning tournament play in those years.
Congrats again to RIT, Coach Coon and the players on an absolutely fantastic 2021 season!

Re: 2021 Tournament
My favorite RIT story. Back in the days of yore, can't even really remember the year, D III post season play was at the upper seeded team's field. This was really nice if you lived near Hobart when they were on their run. RIT playing Bart at Boswell, post season and RIT is good. Positively fantastic day, sunshine, packed house, wasn't particularly frowned upon to bring alcohol into the stands so many/most/pretty much everyone did. RIT is faster than Bart and beating them. The sunshine became a little blocked when the great big dark cloud got between it and Bozwell Field. That was just before it unloaded and turned the whole place into a community shower with a lot of water pressure. In that packed house, needless to say, there was a good number of coeds dressed for the occasion in shorts and t-shirts/flimsy little summer wear. There was lightening too, so the game got called til the weather passed which turned out to be an hour plus. Meanwhile the community shower and summer clad coeds turned into the best wet t-shirt festival I've ever seen. Everyone bolting around looking for cover was quite a scene but that's not to say everyone was looking for cover. A little beer and a rainy day turns into a real playground for the college student.
Not a happy ending for the Tigers. When play resumed The Boz was a mudhole and RIT's speed was no longer a factor. Bart mudded 'em out and there was no joy in Rochester that day. I ran into a guy at my favorite watering hole some years back, said he was a RIT boy and played lacrosse there. Goes without saying I told him my favorite RIT lacrosse story. That's when he turned to his buddies over at the table and said, "See, this guy was there, he knows what happened." Was just hilarious (to me anyway). Am very happy RIT won this one, it's a pretty big deal.

Re: 2021 Tournament
My live impression was it was correct, but I Just re-watched that replay. That was a horrific call to make off ball, across the midfield at the end of the game. Just terrible. Cost the Gulls the game obviously as they would have run out the clock. Bitter pill for that team's fans
Re: 2021 Tournament
It was the right call. The SU kid made an undisciplined mistake in front of an official at a crucial time. But that never happens if the SU coach calls a timeout.
Both teams played their hearts out. Tough one for Gulls. Congratulations to the RIT Tigers!! Great D3 lacrosse on display.
