The counter to that is their two prior games against top five teams: Salisbury (L 19-3) and Lynchburg (L 23-8).smoova wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 8:08 pm+1SouthernLaxGenius wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 7:13 pm Instead of RIT being overvalued, maybe we under valued Colorado College and what they brought to the table

Didn’t CC beat CNU who beat the bugs who beat the sandbox kings?
Anybody can play that game.

Was that the Geico caveman (#23) playing for RIT today?

Re: 2021 Tournament
What I said has nothing to do with the transitive property.
I'm saying that multiple examples of CC getting blown out when facing top five competition can't be dismissed, and is enough to establish a baseline for how we'd expect them to play against future top five teams. One game can be an anomaly; as people noted, any team can play up/play down on any given day (kind of like CC beating a CNU team that had played Salisbury less than 24 hours before). Two games is still not much to go off of, but it's hard to call the results flukey when they were the same each time. CC clearly a good team worth a top 20 spot. They played two top five teams prior to today and got destroyed by both of them. I think it's fair to be surprised that the third top five team they played struggled so much when Salisbury and Lynchburg did not.
(In advance of someone saying "well clearly CNU is a top five team because they're in the final four", have fun arguing that Illinois Wesleyan is one of the country's eight best teams)

Here we go again
Anyway...Do we have any hot takes, blanket statements or predictions for today's games?

Re: 2021 Tournament
Wow CNU...shoutout to the players and coaches on that one!
Re: 2021 Tournament
I'll start the predictions off, shorter and more sarcastic than yesterday's. What could go wrong?
#2 Salisbury vs. #9 Christopher Newport
Gulls have soiled the Captains' ship three times already this year, though the nailbiter that was SU-CNU III looked nothing like the two regular season blowouts. CNU is definitely playing their best lacrosse now...but their best still can't match Salisbury.
Salisbury 16 - Christopher Newport 10
#1 Tufts vs. #3 RIT
Signs of spring:
NCAA vs. D-III fans being able to watch lacrosse
With both semifinals beginning at 2 PM for some reason, the NCAA remains undefeated in 2021.
NCAA 3 - D-III fans 0

- RIT losing at home to a NESCAC team

Re: 2021 Tournament
Today's games
(Predictions)
RIT 15
Tufts 13
* What's the definition of insanity? Yea I get it. I keep wanting to pick against the Tigers and maybe I should. A NESCAC team has ended RITs year in the playoffs 5 out of the past 7 years. (Even though some of us act like they have been getting the brakes beat off em in those contests in recent memory). Hare comes up with key saves early and late and while the attention on Sundown is warranted, it leads to Tait having a day off ball. This isn't 2015 (the last time Tufts and RIT squared off) and I think RIT steps up to exercise (or is it exorcise) the New England Demon this year.
Salisbury 16
Christopher Newport 8
*It's been since AGES since the Gulls have won a national championship (2017). Seems like they have decided to take a step back and let everyone else and their brother catch up with them, just to even the playing field. Ok, enough with talking drivel, whether its game 4 between these two teams this year or game 14, I'm still going with the Gulls to get back to championship weekend and no matter what narrative I come up with, I just think Salisbury is the better overall team and checks every box in this match up.

Tufts in a tight one, and a high scoring affair.
Salisbury by more than double.

Re: 2021 Tournament
I don't think anyone has said they've been getting blown out in recent years against the NESCAC. All of their postseason losses since 2015 have been close. The point is just that they almost always lose whenever any NESCAC team shows up in the playoffs.SouthernLaxGenius wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 10:45 am A NESCAC team has ended RITs year in the playoffs 5 out of the past 7 years. Also, it's 5 out of the last 6.
Anyway, looking forward to today; this matchup is probably second to only Salisbury-Tufts in terms of the hype/anticipation it generates. Should be a great game!
Re: 2021 Tournament
Tufts living up to the old saying 'fastest game on two feet' here in Q2.

Re: 2021 Tournament
Tufts goalie is a wall again. Offense is based on unsettled situations almost exclusively. Like watching someone with diarrhea gone good.
Re: 2021 Tournament
It's going to be Tufts / Salisbury...Yaaawn!
Re: 2021 Tournament
Yea I noticed!!! I'm in favor!!
