2021 Tewaaraton watch list released
Re: 2021 Tewaaraton watch list released
I KNEW the committee would find a way to shoehorn a Terp into the last 5. I wonder how many Maryland fans, alumni, benefactors, et al. sit on the board/committee. Giles was a shoehorn over Hawryschuk and Ortega in 2019, and now Defliese and Trenchard left out to shoehorn Colson in.
Re: 2021 Tewaaraton watch list released
Just look at what Scane did one-on-one against Colson this year and that alone would take her out of the running. She is not having a Tewaarton season and that is the bottom line. The favoritism towards MD is surprising.Lax247 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 9:36 amAlways have to give the nod to Maryland....please....No offence but UNC defenders playing a much tougher conference...How many losses did Maryland have this year?Laxallday wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 9:34 amNo surprises here. I am a little disappointed that Trenchard didn’t get the nod over Colson, but no way they were going to take 3 from UNC. Colson also deserving.glaxer24 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 9:18 am Finalists: https://tewaaraton.com/wp-content/uploa ... STS_PR.pdf

How my goals did Scane have with Colson covering her this year alone? MD lost to teams they have never lost to this year. That's worth rewarding?Maryland75 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 11:37 am I’m not sure why there would be an objection to Colson being in the top five, perhaps if she played this year for UNC with the surrounding level of teammates this wouldn’t be an issue. She instead has led a relatively inexperienced Maryland defense and has been outstanding. She certainly deserves this honor in my opinion and I don’t believe the Tewaaraton committee feels the need to always have a candidate from Maryland on the diss.

I'm not surprised in the least. This is par for the course for this committee. And it's not just the Tewaaraton committee, it's all the folks who sit on the polls committees as well. Lots of people in the women's lacrosse world still kissing the tortoise shell ring.
Re: 2021 Tewaaraton watch list released
Of the 25 goals the Cats blitzed the Terps for on March 27th, Scane had 9. Of the 20 on March 29th, Scane had 5 and finally of the 17 goals scored on May 2nd, Scane had another 9. 23 goals in 3 games. I remember all the talk about how Colson was going to neutralize Scane. How'd that work out for yiz?Brownlax wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 11:54 amHow my goals did Scane have with Colson covering her this year alone? MD lost to teams they have never lost to this year. Yeah, OK, no big deal. But there was really nothing indicating irony there, as far as I could tell. CN with 4 goals on 4 shots. Dominating on DCs. BC up 9-1 over Fairfield with 16:00 to go in the first.

Maryland has no one on the committee (Thanks Seacoaster for the info). I believed you only had a bone to pick with Maryland fans Cletus but based on your posts it must go much deeper then that. You compare Maryland to the Yankees and Patriots as a dynasty but Maryland rotates their players every four years. There was an article a year or so ago talking about how respected a liked Maryland was despite their continued long term success. Guess you are not on that train.
Re: 2021 Tewaaraton watch list released
So many misunderstandings could be avoided if a body just read all that was said on the topic, not just what a body wants to read. You completely missed the point I was making using the Yankees and Cheatriots as examples. And you know what M75? I'm not in the mood to hold your hand and explain it all to you.Maryland75 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 2:37 pm Maryland has no one on the committee (Thanks Seacoaster for the info). No problem Cletus, with your poor communication skills I don’t have the time to read multiple posts as you ramble on. Perhaps you should just admit you’re not a fan of Maryland.

Re: 2021 Tewaaraton watch list released
Here are a few stats from the top four Tewaaraton finalists' performances over the weekend.
North - Team wins over Fairfield (19-6) and Temple (21-11)
15G 0A 71.4%SH 0TO 2CT 22DC 65.5%TeamDC
Scane - Team win over Denver 19-4
8G 3A 57%SH 2TO 0CT 1DC
Ortega - Team win over JMU 14-9
4G 0A 44%SH 2TO 0CT 0DC
Moreno Team win over JMU 14-9
9SV 9GA 50%SV
That is my order on who had the best weekend making her case for the Tewy. North vs. Scane is really close, but I think North gets the edge because of DCs, shot % and lack of TOs. As a goalie, Moreno really needs to do something extraordinary to pass CN and IS. Having said that, her path to the Tewy (hate to say it) probably involves JO continuing to put up so-so numbers and then standing on her head in the championship game against NU. So in that sense, it was a good start for TM.
If you need more evidence on why CN had the better weekend, check out the highlights below. Yes, Izzy scores a lot of goals, but I have never seen her do anything like this:

Im glad you said team win for Scane, Ortega, and Moreno, because its about the team and gutty performances and getting the win. Tewaarton is an individual award but if you dont think the committee looks at how much an individual's performance means to the TEAM you are maybe a bit misguided. Can Opener wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 9:02 am Here are a few stats from the top four Tewaaraton finalists' performances over the weekend.

Did you watch the UNC-JMU game, Ortega hit 3 times which is par for the course.....shes a Dif player than North - thats for sure. And thats why she got attacker of the year....and not North.
