Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Congratulations to the Dragons. They were on fire today. If they play like this next week against anyone, they will win.

as was the Drexel Hofstra CAA final the next year
which a really tremendous Hofstra team won,
Mike Colleluori was on that team.

Drexel is an excellent team and have a well earned CAA title but no need to exaggerate. They beat Hofstra twice this season not three times and the scored an empty net to win by 4 (not a blow out). They blew Hofstra out in the first quarter.Laxwatch2007 wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 6:11 pm Prior to their 2007 game, Drexel’s men’s lacrosse team was 0 for 24 in games against Hofstra. Syracuse’s loss was Drexel’s gain.
Still, Donnelly and Hiltz,
that could have been a lethal combination.
Its too bad.
But,
on to the NCAAs.

He’s been terrific. But in the final it seems the story is a healthy Bowering who was something like 5/7 shooting.

Blumenthal had 9 saves against 1 goal allowed
and it could have been worse,
that offense was operating in the 1st half
and then they eased off the throttle.
We’ll find out at 9 where DU gets placed,
no seeding of course,
I’m guessing against a lower seed depending on the
final 1st round site, possibly against Georgetown or
a Patriot league team.
Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
crazy question-since I have no life I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about how well Drexel's down man def played vs Hofstra , they have good athletes and seemed liked they pressed out just enough to slow the emo flow.So lets say I have a defense like that but for some reason my goalie is having trouble seeing the ball , either sun glare , screening , etc , and I am facing a good outside shooting team . What if I put my second string goalie in with a short stick , chest protecter and neck guard , put him in the goal mouth with the first team goalie and played a five man zone - 4 poles 1 short stick out front -effectively having to shoot past 2 goalies - would that be legal? if it is have to mess with a shooters head I would think

Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
Short answer, yes it is not legal. The opposite side of the coin is illegal also; you can't pull a gk and sub on another field player.
"Dear Naps. Sorry I was such a jerk to you when I was a kid"
Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
not pulling a gk - keeping the goalie in and adding a second goalie using a short stick , but wearing a chest protecter and neck guard

Drexel looked good.
Let’s hear it for West Philly!

I am sure in their official brochures they call it University City.
This would have been a great year for a Big 5 day.

Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
Here is my take on Delaware, the selection committee
and the at large selections,
and the at large selections,
They’re (Delaware) a tremendous team, in a conference that is consistently overlooked by the NCAA,
if the NCAA was applying an “eye test” then they blew that criteria in assessing the Blue Hens.
Its more likely, they barely watched this team,
and merely applied the weak, oh, they lost to Hofstra argument - not realizing that Hofstra is a good team as well as being one of a very few teams that understand Delaware’s tendencies very well. Hofstra happened to exploit those tendencies in the CAA semifinals, playing one of their best games in a while.
If the NCAA really wanted a deserving team that would perform well in the NCAAs, a team deserving of a bid, then Delaware should have been one of their choices for at large.
It looks like,
if Delaware wasn’t even under consideration for at large,
then there really was no “eyeball test”, and they (the selection committee) stuck with, for them, the tried and true safe call choices.
The CAA was most definitely overlooked once again.
Which the discussion on those threads consistently was,
well, the NCAA will do what the NCAA always does.
No one is at all surprised.
For the last ten years or so, its expected.
The NCAA arbitrarily overlooks the CAA.
I’m just calling that out,
again,
for the umpteenth time.
Towson got a 6 seed in 2019 because there was no way to
overlook them, they were number one, beat the number one team, and had one of the top most dynamic players in
the country.
The NCAA makes the safe calls because they don’t want to get shredded by the larger conferences’ fandom.
Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
I also think the Mount St Marys loss really sealed the fate of Delaware early in the year. it took them a month to get back in the polls and they steadily climbed but if you start too low you don't have the time to get up high. I'll cite Lehigh who started low but rose to top five I believe, by playing a similar schedule and then were exposed by Villanova but by then they were so high it's hard to drop them much. At the time I thought it was a good idea to play MSM, but looking back it really killed them. At 10-2 with wins over Drexel and Hofstra they would have had a shot and been ranked in the top ten going into the CAA Tournament.
For the record, they went to that game without 25 of their players including the entire starting attack and 7 starters.

Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
Congratulations to Drexel for giving Notre Dame all they could handle today. I was impressed by the Dragons' comeback in the second half (where have we seen that before?) and the energy they displayed on that mile-high field.
See everyone next year!

Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
Good game, exciting, not every game needs to be
17-16 to get your juices flowing,
great great season in the CAA,
maybe one of these years, the NCAA will see fit to
have the CAA as a two bid league.
Too bad we won’t be seeing any more of those
tremendous CAA 5th year seniors,
a group of players I won’t soon forget.
Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
The phrase “eye test” has been used lately w team comparison. If that’s the case Drexel looks much better then Lehigh. I understand there best player was out. But, for there position in the tournament they were a clunker.
Re: Colonial Athletic Association 2021
One final post mortem on this season.
The results are in, and a CAA team once again showed
tremendous effort against a presumed national title contending team, an ACC team no less.
Of course, it was still a loss.
So, its 2017 since a CAA team last advanced, won a
tournament game.
Still, Drexel, takes Notre Dame to the final minute,
might have won that game.
Towson, takes Maryland to the final seconds in 2019.
UMass, tough play against the national title team, Yale in 2018.
But,
take a note from Loyola’s play over the past month.
If you want to win in the NCAAs, That’s how you do it.
