2021 Coaching Carousel
Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
The Messiah job might be the best of what’s listed.

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Messiah could be the best spot, but I would lean Wabash based on support and things they have going for them in other sports

Agree with SouthernLax. The overall school and support at Wabash sets it apart, but the program is young. A career-type job for the right person, but a hill too steep to climb for the wrong.
Expect Wabash to get it right this time with the timing right to attract a good pool.

It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Learn to recognize the difference.

With the right hire, Wabash could be knocking on the door of the 4 seed and the NCAC playoffs within the next full recruiting cycle.
Some of these other (current) job postings seem like you may just be spinning your wheels for the next 4 years.
Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Messiah supports athletics. National and conference championships in various sports happen regularly. They have been solid in lacrosse for a while. It’s a great spot for whoever lands there.

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Interested to see what happens with the Messiah job.
In the 2019 season, Messiah’s first head coach Jerry Standford, came back as an assistant after being away from the program since the mid 2000’s. He’s easily the best coach in program history. Led them to some conference championships and NCAA appearances in the early 2000’s before leaving the area to coach high school. He moved back to the area a few years ago.
Him being hired as an assistant to Bulus turned a lot of heads when the team was definitely on a downward slope. Rumor was that the writing was on the wall for Bulus and Standford had been asked to come back to mentor him or that they were setting the wheels in motion for him to take the program back. But then Standford left after that season and nothing ever came of it until maybe now.
He’s who my money is on for head coach. No inside info here other than dads running their mouths on the sidelines but my guess is it’s his if he wants it. He would be a great hire because he’s proven he can build a program from the ground up and can rebuild some of traction they've lost the last few years and he’s got a great relationship with the alumni who aren't as active with the program as they used to be.

Pretty big one
So many alum, former assistants, current coaches at "highly selective/academic colleges", the list of candidates could be quite long .
Coach J will be missed.

WAC narrowing in on their man. If they hire who the alums are pushing, it would be the best possible outcome for the program given the circumstances.
Best of luck to Gettysburg in their search!

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Congratulation to coach J on a great career. This will be the top job on the market in D3 in the last couple of years at least. Highly selective academic institution, that if done right, is an easy sell to recruits. With all of the Bullet alumni out there, my guess is it goes to one of these young men.

Out of curiosity, who is the leader in the clubhouse, if you can share?LaxPundit07 wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 1:09 pm WAC narrowing in on their man. If they hire who the alums are pushing, it would be the best possible outcome for the program given the circumstances.

I can’t say if he is a leader for the position but WAC alum Polak who was at Kenyon is no longer there...

No. The leader has a much, much lengthier tenure in the game; and is already in the WAC hall of fame.

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
As a former Bullet and follower of the Gettysburg program since 1980 Congratulations to Coach Janczyk!! He will be hard to replace but I am sure the candidate list will be long and filled with great choices. He has been a force in D3, just wish he could have won it all, he had many teams that could have.
GO BULLETS!
