Re: SAC
Any "live" accounts of LR/Wingate championship game?
We have to assume both teams are in the NCAA tourney.
Hopefully they meet again (trilogy) this year after they have split.

Re: SAC
I think both LR and Wingate get in. SOS and resume are just too good for both of them. Stone - the potential third team is a very long shot and depends on the results elsewhere (teams playing themselves off the list of five).SouthernLaxGenius wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 8:32 amAgreed. Stranger things have happened but i don't see them both missing.
Maybe the SAC adds a 3rd team as well

Re: SAC
The resumes of Mount Olive and Limestone seem so similar, but the Newberry win (for MO) and the loss (for Stone) could be the "nail in the coffin" for the Saints unless a few crazy things happen

Re: SAC
SAC is by far the most competitive and exciting conference in the south and may be so for awhile...
Clearly both Wingate and LR are getting in. And I give LR the best shot to make it to Memorial Day.
And you know Limestone will be back; and Queens and Catawba will be competitive.
That LR offense though is going to be tough for anyone to deal with. They have depth and a couple of dynamic players.
And their defense is solid and a player or two away from being great.

Re: SAC
Competitive OOC (and at the top) maybe, but I would take the SSC and Riddle, F. Southern/F. Tech, PBA vs. Anderson, LMU and Mars HillBlaxLaxDad wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 12:41 pm SAC is by far the most competitive and exciting conference in the south and may be so for awhile...
Re: SAC
I know it's early but initial thoughts on how teams will stack up in SAC this year - coaching and roster changes considered.
This was end of year standings which got a bit skewed with some cancelled games.
1. Lenoir-Rhyne
2. Wingate
3. Queens
4. Limestone
5. Newberry
6. Catawba
7. Tusculum
8. Coker
9. Anderson
10. Mars Hill
11. Lincoln Memorial
My thoughts on changes - I know many will not agree with Limestone slot. Here is an early projection to start some fall season debate
1. Wingate – up one
2. Lenoir-Rhyne – lost some key guys
3. Queens
4. Newberry - up one - will have to prove they can beat Limestone again
5. Limestone – down one – even with Storrier there – Year 1
6. Catawba
7. Coker – up one
8. Anderson – up one
9. Tusculum – down two – program in a bit of disarray
10. Mars Hill
11. Lincoln Memorial

Re: SAC
Newberry was fortunate to catch Stone last year. Loss to them woke up the Saints, who only lost again in the SAC semis to Wingate. Beat Queens 11-5 two games later.
And in that final game against Wingate fell behind 9-1 shortly before halftime. Scored 8 goals in a row to tie (one goal in the late second quarter) with 4:50 left in the 3rd quarter. Then ran out of gas to fall 14-10.
The real question is Queens actually better than Limestone?

Re: SAC
2021 was a Banner year for the SAC. Two programs made the NCAA tournament and both got wins and met in the National Semis. LR went on to the programs first National Title game appearance.
2022 Projected Standings:
1. Wingate: return the most and have been recruiting really well.
2. Lenoir-Rhyne: Some key losses on offense and Face-offs. Defense returns though.
3. Limestone: Still have a ton of talent
4. Queens: Not sure what to make of the coaching situation right now..
5. Newberry: Seem to be trending in the right direction and got a big win over Limestone
6. Catawba: Took a step back in 2021 after a couple of really solid seasons.
7. Anderson: Young program on the upswing. Have some talent and a great FOGO.
8. Coker: Return some talent, need depth.
9. Tusculum: Odd time for a coaching change. They've always had Canadian offensive talent under Carrington, with little defense.
10. Mars Hill: Tough rebuilding job for Coach Turner
11. Lincoln-Memorial: Are the roster numbers going to be better this year?

Transfers @ 08-26-2021
Hofstra - Peyton Jefferson (D)-> Anderson (D2)
Jacksonville - Colby Rogers (FO) -> Newberry (D2)
Stony Brook - Zach Thompson (A) -> Newberry (D2)
Took the list of Transfers from the D1 forum and shortened it to just transfers involving the SAC. None of the 3 had a ton of D1 success but could potentially make an impact this upcoming season with their new teams.

Re: SAC
I don't know if Queens has dropped as much as the other programs have improved and Queens hasn't been able to keep up. For the first couple of years with the SAC the top teams were Queens, Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne. Wingate has greatly improved under Coach Boyle and LR has continued to get better and better every year plus you add in Limestone to the conference and an improving program in Newberry and its much more competitive in the SAC. Mars Hill has obviously dropped off a cliff, but Queens has stayed more or less the same for the last few years-a top 15-20 program in D2. Problem is that isn't good enough lately to win the SAC with the way LR and Wingate have improved.

Any recaps on the Anderson vs. Mercer scrimmage?
