Johns Hopkins 2021
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
Per Michigan twitter
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
-Milliman and Tambroni will now have faced off 4 times in their last 12 games as coaches over 2 years. Amazing. We're in the 3/6 matchup. I'd rather play maryland again if we can beat penn state. If we lose I'd like to see if we can find another game, maybe with an ivy or someone else.
-The school made no mention of the shirts in the program, instagram, twitter. People saw the shirts on both coaches on national tv on homecoming, they got the message. Didn't make the focus of the game the politics. Right way to go.

Here’s the bracket:
This explains the tiebreaker:

There’s a max of 3 on any individual game result, so that’s why we couldn’t calculate it. Not knowing that detail was like peeing into the wind.

One other detail in there: the JHU-PSU game will be at 6 PM Saturday.
The OSU-TSUN game will be at 4 PM.
I had to look up what TSUN meant.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
The 3-goal limit is a super strange rule, but oh well. I don't think it changes very much. Just win.

Three is arbitrary, but I like the idea. The old Laxpower formula used to have a 10 (IIRC) goal limit.WOMBAT, Mod Emeritus wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:24 pm Here’s the bracket:

I presume that means not on BTN+.All five tournament games will be televised live on the Big Ten Network
Edit: No word about spectators.

Might as well play the 1st round in State College since the semifinals and finals will be played there—-speaks the optimist.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
Thought the same. Can't hurt to get more games in on that field in the event we advance.Hoponboard wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:52 pm Might as well play the 1st round in State College since the semifinals and finals will be played there—-speaks the optimist.
Any hope of winning starts at the faceoff dot—can't do as badly as we did in our last meeting against PSU. Narewski more than held his own the first time around but Arceri dominated in round 2.
PSU's goalie situation is interesting...Kneese killed us last time but seems like they've since moved on to Fyock. Could have different goalies for both teams compared to the matchup a few weeks ago.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
All I can say is that, while they won't be favored, they have more than a decent chance to extend the season. If we get 50/50 on face-offs and decent goalie play, I think the game is a toss-up. If we get killed in either of those departments, I have a hard time seeing a win. Getting ahead of myself, I don't think Rutgers is an insurmountable hill either.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
we beat them already this year, we're presumably healthy, our players should be playing better b/c they've had more time w/the staff, and PM has faced JT 4 times now in 12 games. Is there a reason we shouldn't be able to do this?nyjay wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 7:32 pm All I can say is that, while they won't be favored, they have more than a decent chance to extend the season. Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
I think defeating Penn State earlier in the year in Baltimore and being tied with them a few weeks ago in the 4th quarter is a strong signal that the game could be/should be close - but let's not pretend this is somehow not a very tough contest with the following issues:
- They have defeated Ohio State twice - and we have lost to Ohio State twice - A defeats B and B defeats C does not mean of course that A defeats C but given that it happened twice indicates that Penn State is improving too
- They have the record holder in goals scored in D1 lacrosse
- Their replacement goalie was 15 saves over 9 goals and made an incredible save when Ohio State could have maybe should have tied it - can you possibly imagine what Hop posters would be saying about Marcille if he was 15 over 9 against any BIG team - they would be pushing Piggy off the Mt. Rushmore of Hopkins goalies - just kidding - but you would need an insulin shot for all the sugar
- Hopkins is 2-8 - playing on the road with a bad habit of falling apart late
- While Hopkins dominated Arceri in Baltimore - he returned the favor in spades the second time around and certainly has had huge games against Hopkins including one in the State College massacre when he was playing on one leg - if he goes 15-19 again you can't count on 22 Penn State turnovers to keep the game in the balance.
So come much closer to 50/50 on face-offs - goalie play probably needs to be better than the 15 Kneese 9 Kirson - though neither one of those guys is playing - but Penn State only put 20 shots on goal and still won the game by 3. Oh and take care of the ball!!! Do that and it will be another competitive contest.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
I’ve said all season that any ACC team can beat any other ACC. I erroneously was wrong in my appraisal of the Big 10. Hopkins almost showed that any Big 10 team can beat any other team.
Will Maryland win the BTT? Probably, but the BJs exposed their vulnerabilities yesterday.

Any word on Kirson’s injury?
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
This is the B1G. I'd imagine it is probably something along the lines of not rewarding teams for blowing out other teams because they are supposed to be gentleman like to each other. Gotta remember at one point they named the 2 divisions for the football teams "Leaders" and "Legends."
