All the Hobart lacrosse Instagram stories, tweets etc.. feature the guys in the weight room
How about some of the guys doing wall ball, learning to throw and catch on the run?
Here’s a novel idea let’s work on clearing the ball or scoring on EMO!!!

I realize this is more a comment in the Lebron James twitter culture of showing how hard everyone works all the time (like everyone only showing their best lives on crapbook). But...

There’s a few kids who could add 5-10lbs of muscle which might include the tallest one on the roster. But imagine if Bobby Baltzer could add 10pbs of muscle as he develops (only a soph) and not lose agility or lateral quickness.

33 kids on the roster are under 185lbs. Connor durkin is 6’2” 170, Mott 6’2” 175, Gullace 5’10” 165, Adam Davis 6’ 165, Madonna 5’10” 175, Hocheimer 6’ 175, Matt Turner 6’ 1” 180 as just some examples. Many of these guys you see getting managed by mid sized close D and long sticks.

Guys who did well as FR: Herlihy 5’10” 185, Dattellas 6’ 185

Not saying weight or strength is the only thing needed but it’s pretty clear between current lack of depth and, frankly, our guys have physically been handled in almost every game and so seems like a lot could use the weight room as well as the wall.

The nice thing about lacrosse is the little guy can play this game. It's nice to bulk up but for me speed, agility and the ability to run for 60 minutes is the name of the game when it comes to the physical part. I also think a great exercise is to just run (keep moving) and play catch.

The revised schedule for the remainder of the season. The last week will be a grind. Hope the guys are getting healthy with this weekend "off".

Different positions different needs. So if I’m a SSDM whos 155-165 trying to defend 210lb midfielders or trying to like run through double teams on a clear, I probably need more strength. Wasn’t Kevin Curtin like 185 even though he was, at best, 5’9”?

Small thing but two future statesmen, John Considine and Alex Rosa, have made this fairly long watch list for a UA aA game.

Agreed. But we need to get the weight rooms and gyms on line again. Body weight exercises will only go so far. One guy you didnt mention is Bach. He's had a good first year and he must be about 205 or so. He'll be 225 by senior year.
Then again, Archer is pretty light, and he is arguably our best right now. Of course, that's where the point about positions comes in.
I wouldn't mind seeing Shea add 10.

Bach is listed at 200 but I suspect he is already fairly physical based on some of the thinga I read about his HA football career even if a smaller area. Here’s one, kid had 53tds as a Sr, 27/26 (rush/pass) as a QB plus 68 tackles in 11 games. That’s a lot of time engaged in physicality playing both ways and being a rushing QB. Doing it for lacrosse purposes is a bit different so perhaps some slightly different emphasis but I’m assuming he’s ready to bang bodied already.

Hard to get minutes given that starting attack, and he is listed as attack. The commentators said that he would be starting for many other teams. Sweet goal.

 So I’m being super paranoid but looking at Holy Cross and whatever the heck is happening at Fairfield plus Marist, etc and really wondering if SHU, who in theory has three games left vs Wags, Bryant and a makeup with us, is going to finish the season and all those games being played before saying “F It” given they are 1-9 after being 1-5 last year. This would be unheard of normally but arguably (not to me but I would understand) reasonable given Covid in 20-21 and these kids wanting some normality in their college experience (ie not a bubble and some bar a**) the last month or so.

Both them and Wagner are out and given we are 2-0 vs MSM really the two makeup games dont matter as this sat is a play in for the last conference playoff spot. Let’s hope our boys are ready and relatively healthy. And whatever the hades is going on w Knox is resolved. For all the disappointment if we have a game where Knox, Archer, Mott and Madonna are all “on” and a few others are functional incl SSDM we can be pretty darn potent almost regardless of what we get out of the bigger youngin crowd that is strong and like 12-15 deep but not sure which ones are going to be ballers yet.

I like our chances at home but have to see the ball and be the ball.nnnn

Yeah I’ve had a few exchanges on the MD board on Holden. While he’s an attack, I am just surprised he hasn’t at least run second line this year at midfield and that griffin brown has had a ton more run as while I’m biased im very confident our guy is better. But his ball dominance in our system for a bit is problematic for Tillman and so it seems it’s a relatively binary, “fit in and play” or not play at all year for Eric.

Hopefully the boys had a couple of good weeks of practice.
Looks like not making the NEC tourney is a real possibility
Merrimack playing well despite the graduation of Bertrand and his move to UVA

Stick side high? Good for him, but gotta make that save--nevermind the shoddy 1v1 defense!!

Just looked at the NEC standings. This weekends game v Merrimack is a MUST WIN for both teams to make the NEC tourney. If Hobart loses, that's it. So, the team better have worked out the numerous issues. If not, they will have squandered what should have been a good shot at the NCAA tourney.

Just flipping around our homepage and amazing how balanced and consistent Ryan Archer has been. 5g last year and 5 this year and exactly same pt total, nearly same # of shots and similar GB/TO. For as much love as somebody like Logan Lliberg gets in conference, who is a very good player, Archer has done as much or more on a more succesful team but really hasn't gotten much credit beyond internally.

Hoping to get into the NEC tourney is a far cry from where we thought we’d be with this squad ....
