What news sources mislead you every day with uninformed opinion? Seriously.

It’s so hard to have meaningful debates with people who don’t have a clue what they’re debating, but have full confidence they do.

Thank you so much for finding this. I fully expected for something like this to show up sooner or later.

It appears that Business Insider did this image analysis. It shows what appears to be a gun in the hand of the boy at 1.8 and 1.5 seconds before he is shot. Thereafter the gun appears to be lying on the ground behind the boy. There are a number of questions raised by the image processed sequence. Multiple news reports claim the COPs said the gun was thrown over the fence, this video does not line up with that testimony. Multiple news reports claim the COPs said the gun was pointed at the COP prior to being thrown over the fence, clearly this doesn't line up with that testimony. The COPs claim the time between the gun being in the boys hands and his being shot was claimed by the police to be less than a second. Clearly this video does not show that, but is difficult to judge time in the middle of such an event. These are minor quibbles with the video.

Now what is not clear from the video is the believability of the physics required to produce the motion seen in the video. I am not going to do that analysis, someone will before this video is accepted as "truth". But there are a few "physics" observations that should make your jaw drop. In time average frames where did the gun go? Not visible in any frame but frame 1 and 2. Those frames show the gun moving slowly in the boys hand as if it is just being dropped right behind him? No gun seen behind him in frame 3 or 4, why? Unless you think the dark flat "object" next to the left foot is a gun, lying very flat. Appears in both frames 3 and 4. Fortunately CPD provides us with an image clearly showing the gun being found after the event, on the other side of the fence. The gun is lying up against the fence, not flat on the ground. Leaning against the fence. In the CPD image of the guns resting place, the curious thing is the gun does not seem to be in position where the video would indicate. It is not found near the hole in the fence where the boy dies.

A major question is why if a simple video frame time averaging would show this, WHY DID CPD NOT RELEASE IT?? Would help their case.

Now Business Insider weakly indicates they did the image analysis. I doubt that, it is more likely they purchased this from a "consultant". Perhaps Mr. Andy Ngo?

So there remain a number of problems before anyone would accept this video frame sequence as real. Clearly these problems don't bother you.

I have to admit I agree with you.

The New York Times also did a frame by frame analysis and agreed Toledo had a gun in his hands. As has every legitimate journalist.

You went with the initial fake narrative which was given birth by dishonest hack activists and journalists. Every single time a story is too cute by half, it behooves you to be skeptical, and not join the echo chamber. Every. Single. Time.

I apologize if you haven't written monologues, depicting Hopkins recruiting woes as having nothing to do with Baltimore blight.

You can certainly agree, that such a post, exists. Words typed, by you.

So, to start with, I presented a fact. as I understand my interpretation of what you wrote, here: from the April 7th, Hopkins thread

Always interesting what a 'first time poster' decides to lead with in that first post.

IMO,
1) The coaching change was inevitable, probably overdue.
2) Petro has handled it gracefully, much to his credit.
3) The current roster is way less remarkably talented than some have touted, but they include many good lacrosse players. None are bums.
4) An effective team with the expectations of the Hopkins' faithful requires more than some good players, they need all or nearly pieces of the puzzle to be first rate, not just some.
5) The Freddie Gray issues meant nothing to recruiting, ER though, had an enormous impact...Petro has publicly agreed that his participation in ER was an error, in retrospect.
6) This team has little different than last year's, just way less practice time with a new staff.

And finally, give it 4-5 years.
I know, I know, Hopkins' faithful will grumble anyway!

Forgive me, if one interprets this to mean issues, regarding race, are NOT a problem for Baltimore. Or, would that be you caring less about Baltimore hiring a hate group, the nation of islam....to run your city projects "security".

How many kids matched the 60 percent demographic at your sons club team tryout, about a decade ago. I think I heard Freddie gray, also tried out....but didn't make that team.

yeah....you care........

and, holistic medicine, is quack medicine, yes ;)

as if bee stings could CURE anything.........same with THC........no Harvard dorm named "free canibus"

holistic

include that verbage, next time you apply for some bank loans, and business plans, going forward. Think you will find, others, wouldn't really know where to begin, with your "holistic" approach.

Sounds like Hopkins need another couple of Billion to "study" the problem in Baltimore. because, of course.......grants and studies for this kind of thing are fiction....they don't exist.

carry on........ which MIAA high school is yours? Mt St. Joes, or Bishop Curley ?

just not seeing any "holistic" solutions, being displayed on the lacrosse fields of Baltimore.
sheesh, you think that because, IMO, Freddie Gray had nothing to do with Hopkins recruiting, I've never taken Baltimore's issues seriously? Come on, stop with such dumb assumptions...they aren't necessary to your making a valid point.

Assuming that is, you actually want a respectful discussion of actual issues. And not that you just want to take a slap at someone.

Great. Please tell me where to find it or better yet a copy of the article. Does the NYT version look like the Business Insider version? If it does, it has the same problems.

Yup, the frame by frame has some serious discrepancies with the police story, etc. Something certainly smells fishy.

But what it DOES show quite clearly was that his hands were up and empty when he was shot.

This incident was over two weeks ago.

No one would have any doubts if they'd released this first; said the kid threw the gun BEHIND a fence (not over it); and said the kid's prints were found on the gun.

Since the kid tosses the gun BEHIND the fence, the cop can't see that the gun is now gone. So unless the cop is able to take cover to get more time, he can't know the right hand is now empty by time of decision.

I'm not understanding what CPB was thinking. The other thing that is weird is that they didn't point out that the companion was also armed and was the person who fired the shots that set this incident off. Strange.
Boycott stupid. Country over party.

My very first words were, " I apologize .....if I am too" , using your respectful word, "dumb "

Can your "opinion" change, regarding whether Freddie Gray has affected Baltimores nationwide vantage point, right or wrong, that folks from New England , may not choose to go to Hopkins, when they can get an engineering degree at dozens of other Div. lacrosse colleges.

this is the question, mdlaxfan. Are you open to discussions, that can change your opinion, regarding whether Freddie Gray riots, even a little bit......for even just ONE family...... was, or is, a factor....in college plans. Lacrosse, or not? You notice lots of New England kids on other Hopkins sports rosters, mdlaxfan.

so, yes or no........you willing to be open minded, and listen to someone that knows the region, they speak of. That, you can't, for the life of you, just write:"

"ok, ok, maybe freddie gray had something to do with Baltimore college recruiting " are you willing to concede that? geez.

Someone will do a frame by frame image processing. I am skeptical it will show anything, because of the low light level. Light level will have to be adjusted digitally which may cause a big problem given where the actual light sources are in the video. Simple multi frame averaging will likely not show anything. More sophisticated image processing will be required to dig something out.

If anything like this was real, CPD would have released it with the original release of images and video. They aren't stupid, or stupid enough to put something like this out under their name.

The willful ignorance here is astounding. I’ll do your work for you, realizing how futile it is ultimately to convince you there is no police problem in America, but so be it.

If lacrosse fans are this easily misled, now I understand why whole swaths of humanity can be.

That is the moment Arthur Lurigio, a professor at Loyola University and criminologist with a background in deadly use of force, focused in on Thursday. “The barrel of the gun was shining,” Lurigio said. He is talking about the moment the video clearly shows something in Adam’s hand.

Yup, the frame by frame has some serious discrepancies with the police story, etc. Something certainly smells fishy.

But what it DOES show quite clearly was that his hands were up and empty when he was shot.
... and that way for 1.5 seconds, not under 1 second. If you chose to accept any of this.

I'll take a look at it when I get a chance. You promised me NYT! You really think the search criteria you mentioned will provide a believable image. Yeah you're right, that would do it. No one could possibly put up an fake , hoax image on the internet. From a local CBS station???

PS: This is not a high res image. It is a very low res image that has been magnified.

Two questions:

Why do I have to do your work?

You don’t believe a local Chicago CBS station, or an actual criminologist?

The Left is beyond broken, folks. They are not serious participants in our body politic.

What problem? There is no ‘cops are racist’ problem.

I do think there is an over-incarceration problem. Which Trump addressed somewhat. But trump wasn’t and isn’t the problem; big government politicians are.

In order to not appear like American justice is biased against POC, the urge has been to add ‘prison penalties’ to literally every bill or law passed in the last 30 years. What that has done is given prosecutors the ability to coax guilty pleas from 98% of defendants. It’s also meaningfully added to incarceration rates, ironically as much from BS probation violations than the original crime (incidentally POC hate the nonsensical probation laws and industry infecting/affecting millions of POC families, basically forever consigning families to generations of incarcerated parents).

If you want to address the incarceration problem in America, you’d incarcerate strictly on violent crime and go the European way on non-violent crime, financial and service penalties, plus remove probation requirements once a sentence is served.

So far as police, the percent of egregious abuse incidents rests somewhere around 1/10th of 1%...,in other words, practically zero. Unfortunately most Americans are too dumb or partisan to grasp basic common sense observations and prefer to mimic the mob’s chant.look at this board: most liberals here simply parrot media narratives rather than attempting to know facts. Then they all rah rah each other’s idiocy, safe in the mob’s circle jerk-dom.

You are the one making the claim, is why it is your work.

Did a quick look. This is better. However still has problems. When the "gun" first appears in the video, it appears exactly where there is a "long fence" pipe in the background (or at least that is what it appears as to me). This is a vertical pipe that holds up a fence (metal mesh fence). The gun is aligned over this pipe. It looks like a gun, but it may be an illusion based on the background, the lighting as the COP moves, etc. Still don't see the "gun" being dropped. It could be consistent with the "gun" being thrown horizontally. Don't know if that resolves the the problem with the final resting position of the actual gun.

So I would say this is not proof as it stands, but could be if a bunch of questions were answered. Would have to talk to the "expert" to ascertain exactly what processing he did. It does not look like he just slowed the video down. He did that but something more appeared to be going on with the lighting that is not clear to me from just looking at his video.

There will be other people doing the frame by frame processing. Anyone who claims they have proof will have to prove it to other imaging experts. This is another simple technique claimed by the "expert", easily done by anyone with experience. Again why did the CPD not release such with their original drop?? They know how to do this stuff in the lab.

It’s hard to care about every incident across America, RRR; I’d have no time for my actual life, police or other. What I don’t do is cast blame to every cop for the actions of a few. I also realize that police across America interact with millions of civilians every day, with very positive outcomes.

The Shavers incident is far worse than the ‘racist’ incidents that are never racist. And it sucks. I’m not sure there is a great answer to the Shavers police shooting other than you fire the police who are bad apples or simply bad at their job.

BALTIMORE.

I apologize if you haven't written monologues, depicting Hopkins recruiting woes as having nothing to do with Baltimore blight.

You can certainly agree, that such a post, exists. Words typed, by you.

So, to start with, I presented a fact. as I understand my interpretation of what you wrote, here: from the April 7th, Hopkins thread

viewtopic.php?f=290&t=1883&hilit=riots&start=5500

____________________________________

"ok, ok, maybe freddie gray had something to do with Baltimore college recruiting " are you willing to concede that? geez.
Of course I’d be open to listening to new information or a new logic I hadn’t heard before and am certainly open to changing my mind. However, until that happens I have a clear opinion.

Yes, though I haven’t spoken to a person who actually made a decision away from Hopkins because of that event and the unrest, I can imagine such exist. But was such a player better than the kid a slot was given to? Gotta be awfully good player to be better than those who wanted a slot. I see the Hopkins recruiting issue to been the selection process not the pool of available talent. ER was the driver of selection issues, IMO.

And yeah, at most the Freddie situation reminded people from other areas of their already predisposition to be nervous about Baltimore. Wired and Homicide being much more influential on people’s perceptions. And these are mostly folks scared about cities in general, often a racial component to that fear.

But none of this has anything to do with my views on poverty and violence in my home city, nor the investments in time and money my family and I have made in helping, even a small way, with such issues.
