Nope. You can get rid of every single one of those publicly funded things-----schools, roads, libraries----and replace them with private versions, and our government would still exist.

We CHOOSE socialism instead, my friend. And it's obvious from your response that you, like most Americans who think they don't like socialism....like it just fine when it's stuff that they use.

But I'll bite. If what I listed isn't socialism, what do YOU think socialism is? Give a concrete example, please.
What about Social Security? We have an 8 hour work day due to socialism....

We CHOOSE socialism instead,

We don't CHOOSE anythying a Fan. The government spends money where it wants, when it wants, how it wants and how much it wants. Forget trying to play your stupid little we are all socialists game. That works in your debate classes in college, in the real world, and it pains me to say this because I have so much respect for you... your peddling some sort of Buffalo Bagel nonsense. Once we hand over our hard earned tax dollars to Uncle Sam, he spends where he sees fit. If Uncle Sam wants to spend it on farmers... then so be it. If Uncle Sam wants to spend it on Universal health care... then so be it. if Uncle Sam wants to buy 3 billion dollar jet fighters then so be it. Don't insult my intelligence with your dumb ass little we are all socialists nonsense that you learned in college.

If what you are saying is true... then every tax dollar spent on whatever is just an exercise in socialism. I am fortunate enough to not have had my brain corrupted by higher education. What I would call the government spending our tax dollars is something that USE to be done under something called a BUDGET. That is when all the little folks in Washington DC use to debate on, argue about and compromise and then eventually agree on how much taxpayer money would be spent in accordance with how much money in taxes the government racked in. Do you remember those days a Fan? That is not socialism. It was 45 years ago since my days of American history in HS. I still remember being taught how the government was SUPPOSE to operate. If the dumb asses in DC were passing a budget every year instead of these idiotic continuing resolutions, we would not be where we are today as a nation running a 22 trillion dollar debt.

You can call It socialism or a pastrami sandwich for all I care just freaking do it by the rules our founding fathers gave us To hell with continuing resolutions. Pass a budget that all of these idiots can agree upon. That is suppose to be their job after all. This garbage of continuing resolutions are the actions of cowards. What pisses me off to no end is that nobody freaking cares anymore... Sorry you got in my line of fire a Fan. I care less about what you want to call our federal spending. I just want all parties involved to do their job and agree on a federal budget. If they don't have the balls or ovaries to do it find some people that can. They don't have anything more important to do IMO than hash out a budget and get it passed... no matter how long it takes them.

Answer me this a Fan... are you happy with continuing resolutions as a way of running the government? I am guessing but I doubt you run your business from month to month considering how much money you spend and what you will spend it on. I bet you call it your operating budget. I bet you do it as much as possible for one year at a time. I work for a mega soda pop juggernaut. The only thing my boss harps about non-stop is our budget for the year and how we try and grow our business. If he blows his budget up... he won't have a job anymore. If the government blows their budget up... then they just make up for it by spending more money next year. Forget the argument about socialism or capitalism. The real argument IMO is complete stupidity. Rant is over...

https://news.grabien.com/story-rep-ilha ... er-rampage Well one thing for sure about the FLP/Socialist wing of the Democrat Party... they are not trying to disguise their own special brand of hatred and bigotry anymore. The bloom is off the rose on that bit of hypocrisy now. Imagine that Democrats hate just as much as Republicans... who would of thunk it? That can only mean that the Democrats are not as morally superior as they have always claimed to be... imagine that... :o

Heres a couple definitions of socialism MOST people use
1—any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

2—a system of society or group living in which there is no private property

Doesn't Congress vote to approve killing machine sales to foreign countries? Yup, they sure do.

Sure sounds like controlling the distribution of goods to me.

This is the part of the "what Smedley said" that escapes the purvey of progressives. Our killing machine industry makes a nice nut selling twinkies and ho ho's to our frenemies.

TAATS......wanna see the votes of Congress......followed by the MIC donation to them? didn't think so.

I see how that works. Present it to all in order to minimaize the impact of what socialism really is all about, to relax everyone...kinda like that feeling after a one night coitus escapade to get your 5-hydroxytryptamine nice and chill so all is good...only to wake up with red bumbs every where.

Wonder what that number would be if you didn't cap FICA taxes in the mid $120's? Why should 90% of the working population have to pay FICA on 100% of their income, while the Gary Cohen's of the world don't?

Average American makes $62k and pays $3800 in FICA = 6.2%

Gary makes $22,000,000 and pays $8k n FICA = .0366%

Talk about socialism and welfare.

Worldwide decline of the entomofauna: A review of its drivers
Highlights

• Over 40% of insect species are threatened with extinction.

• Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera and dung beetles (Coleoptera) are the taxa most affected.

• Four aquatic taxa are imperiled and have already lost a large proportion of species.

•Habitat loss by conversion to intensive agriculture is the main driver of the declines.

•Agro-chemical pollutants, invasive species and climate change are additional causes.
