What can I add?? The Hounds will be exciting and fun to watch this year. They can run and the shot clock will be to their advantage.

Does anyone know whether UVA-transfer Corey Millhouse got playing time in the UNC or Richmond scrimmages? I watched him play in the World Games for Puerto Rico, and he has blazing speed, but is a little out of control. Reminds me a little of the way Josh Hawkins played as a freshman. I'm curious if Toomey will make him a SSDM. Pat Laconi was the fastest guy on the team back in 2012, and he played defense. Would be awesome to see Millhouse used that way to spark transition opportunities and even on the faceoff wings. He could help mitigate the loss of Begley.

Another relationship with UVa is assistant coach Marc Van Arsdale.

That was an awesome game, and not even that cold with sun shining. To be honest, I was concerned about our defense this season after losing Huggins, Harkins, Begley, Mintzlaff, and Davliakos to graduation, but it looks like we've done a great job of reloading. There was some sloppy clearing that gave UVA a lot of second chances, but Stover was simply incredible in the cage with 18 saves. It was a shame to see Higgins go down with an injury on a vicious hit. I hope he is ok.

Stover has been underappreciated his whole career. Huge day for him. I loved the complementary scoring. Loyola looked good at every position.

A great start to the season for the Hounds, as much as I'd like to enjoy this win, it's just one game. And just the first game of a long season. There's lots of work still to be done. And a likely angry and focused Hopkins team up next. At Homerwood.

Patriot League schools do two things much better than ACC schools. 1) Most of them actually play solid team D. 2} They keep balance on O and don't let teams run up and down. Loyola would threaten scoring records this year, if they played in the ACC.

And the Patriot League Network rocks, no fee, archived games, nice announcers actually calling the game and not trying to be cool and talking about their Hero's Summer League Team 19992.

We are so lucky to have a legendary coach in Dave Cottle providing color commentary. He picks up on things during the game that I would never notice in a million years. I am so spoiled now that when I stream games from other schools, i almost have to turn off the sound. I watched the Bucknell/Bryant game yesterday, and the announcer just said the same irrelevant things over and over again, without giving any insights into the game that was being played.

Pl competition is good, but Loyola is always dominant enough to host the PL tournament, one more reason that you can’t beat Baltimore if you love watching live.

Bucknell announcer would be the worst if not for some of the other PL teams announcers!! As a group they are awful. Loyola is the bright spot. But the PL Stadium web site is awesome. Free, and all the old games going back several years. Just turn down the sound and enjoy. It is always amusing when a graduating class listens to their first webcast game, post playing, and says "Were the announcers that horrible when we were playing?? " Yes!!

You can watch the PL games all season long on your computer, including live and archived games:

https://watchstadium.com/network/patrio ... e-network/

But for those that prefer their TVs, you can also download the Stadium App on Roku and it has the PL network on it.

Savio had no trouble with two UVA FOGOs. Will Hopkins' unit have any better luck against him? Will Hopkins get enough possessions to force Stover to make 18 saves again? The Hopkins d was regarded fairly highly--why I'm not sure--before the season and the most fans knew close d was a liability for UVA. Nonetheless, is it realistic to expect Hopkins to hold Spencer under seven points? With Duffy drawing the pole, Scanlon will be a handful for the Hopkins dms.

Stover with another huge day. Loved the Hounds half court offense. This is a dangerous team. But not sold on Theo level of competition they have played so far. I think Iva and Hop were way overrated. They will get much tougher tests the next few weeks with Rutgers, Towson and Duke.

This Loyola team is by far the best in D1 at this early stage of the season by an order of magnitude. I've been involved in the game for 40 years at all levels and I trust what my eyes are watching. Pat Spencer is a truly great player because he makes everyone around him so much better. He is an absolute pleasure to watch. This team is very well balanced with good players in key positions, very well coached, come ready to play and appear to be humble and having fun. All necessary elements to make a championship run. Its early in the season but these guys look like they can run the table right now through Memorial Day much like they did in 2012. I'm sure Coach Toomey and his staff will make sure they have short memories and take one game at a time.

hello everyone, first time poster here, been a huge fan of hopkins since 2011 when i was 15 and my sister started her first year there, I personally just graduated last may from Loyola so my head/heart is always torn when these two play and it gets really interesting in my household. Never played a game in my life but i can see the X/O's and its great to see such off ball cutters weaving in and out of picks set near the goal.

anyway my personal thoughts on today-

Hopkins has much much talent, but IMO, like many other here, i do not believe it is being used correctly especially given their physically imposing, highly touted recruiting class.
SSDMS got burned by Loyola middies today, which is good for the hounds that they can beat their man.
Spencer is fully evolved from a pass first, to just a complete 50-50 player who can do it all. His creativity is on a whole different level but its wonderful to see that while he IS the Loyola offense, the offense does not flame out if he doesn't have the ball. Other have stepped up as playmakers which makes this team just as dangerous.

Defensively- i was extremely skeptical given that classmates of mine (Huggins, Davliakos, Drapeau, Begley, Minztlaff, Harkins- i've had classes at school with literally all of these mentioned including Spencer) all graduated and thought that they would get lit up by UVA and Hop, but I'm pleasantly surprised how well this side of the field gels with one another.
