If I caught an a** whooping for calling a cop a pig, I’d take it, but because I was raised with that mentality of “come get your beating” when “earned”, but for anyone else in this country I find that offensive that it happens. Half or more of those specific type of cops wouldn’t do it ever without a badge and the fear of reciprocation. Only because they’ve been granted the authority do they do it and get away with it.
So here’s my solution. Forget courts. Like they tell Denzel in the jungle at the end “you got to put in your own work around here homie”. What I mean is if you pull some extralegal stuff with a badge then you have to go to that neighborhood with no uniform or weapons and go tow to toe with the Neighborhood representative of their choice. think those same tough guy, state police rejects, would ever go for that if it locked in their qualified immunity? I think they’re too much of pu**ies to agree to that ever
BTW, old Pete Brown claimed I was out of my mind suggesting, at request off the top of the dome that 5-15% was outrageous but you split my flippant estimate like a 7-11 split.

Another idea:
Spanish philosopher George Santayana is credited with the aphorism, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” while British statesman Winston Churchill wrote, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

I read this story yesterday and it’s hard to understand the reasoning for this action of handcuffing and detaining the husband of a murder victim at the spa. Then releasing him after four hours and then telling him his wife died.

Racism in America
Local Asian American Christian leaders who organized the vigil said it was intended not only to offer a space of “healing” for the community, but also to decry the rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders over the past year.ardilla secreta wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 7:34 amI read this story yesterday and it’s hard to understand the reasoning for this action of handcuffing and detaining the husband of a murder victim at the spa. “I’ve received calls from people saying that there are several complicated issues to the Atlanta spa shootings,” the Rev. Byeong Han said in Korean during the vigil, referring to investigators' statements that the suspect had claimed that he was motivated by a “sexual addiction,” not racism. “This incident is not complicated. It’s clearly a hate crime from a white man targeting Asian women.”
Han said later in an interview that the suspect’s claim that he had “had a bad day” was a “poor excuse,” saying Asian Americans have been having “bad years.”

Trump supporter feels entitled to spew racial slurs at cashier who tells her she must wear a mask
https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2021/3 ... ecommended
As reported by the New York Daily News, a woman, identified as Stephanie Denaro of Queens, and accompanied by at least three children, was waiting in line behind two other customers at the Davidovitch Bakery on New York’s Lower East Side.
Because she was not wearing a mask, the African-American cashier behind the counter bakery politely asked her to put one on to receive service. She then began to complain, whereupon one of the bakery’s two security guards standing by told the cashier that it was up to him whether he would serve her. Probably because he was concerned about violating the bakery’s rules for serving customers without masks, he indicated he did not wish to serve her.
The security guard then advised the woman that she would have to leave.
She responded by asking “ Why? Because he’s a complain-ass n******r, is that why?”

Right wingers continue to spew their hate and then play the victim card. No surprise given that this is their specialty.

... someone will have to explain to me just exactly what the scumbag COPs who choked out George Floyd thought they were doing. What was the point? What did they think they were accomplishing? Only point I can take away from the multiple videos and witness testimony is the motherfu*kers were determined to kill Floyd. There is no other explanation.

Re: Race in America - Riots Explode in Minneapolis
... a witness, an off duty Minneapolis EMT who witnessed Floyd's death seems to have dropped a bomb shell. She is testifying that the ambulance response to the call was strange, took much longer than it should have. Medical help in her experience would have normally come from a station 3 blocks away; the 1st and 2nd back up stations would have reached the site of Floyd's death in under 3 minutes. According to the time the COPs called the ambulance, 5 minutes before she showed up on the site, taking a walk on her day off, the ambulance should have been there before she arrived. She was also told to mind her own business by one of the COPs when she informed them who she was and she could help. The COP told her he did not believe she was Minneapolis EMT, because if she were, she would know better than to stick her nose in where it didn't belong! The defense is really going after her, but I don't think they are scoring many points against her.
This is irrelevant to Floyd's guilt or innocence, but could lead to a larger investigation and future charges. It sounds like a potential conspiracy among the COPs.
She witnessed the COPs killing Floyd, believes she could have saved him, but the COPs would not let her. She saw him die before the ambulance showed up with 3 COPs sitting on Floyd, 1 with his knee still on his neck.

A local criminal law defense attorney was interviewed on TV and he said it's all looking rather grim for the criminal cop whose defense continue insist that Chauvin was acting under color of law and prescribed procedure. Of course, the defense started out by saying that the first words out of the mouth of the police commissioner was that the actions taken were not within police procedure and that it was an act of murder. Despite all, I'm still willing to bet the cops will go off scot free. It's America, ya know ...

Re: Race in America - Riots Explode in Minneapolis
I think the EMT was a very powerful witness for the prosecution. As one of the commentators noted, it is quite unusual for two eyewitnesses to also have expertise in areas relevant to the case. The MMA guy gave some pretty interesting testimony on chokeholds and the like.
The thing that I thought was most powerful about the EMT, though, is that she clearly communicated that she thought what the cops did was wrong. So here is a person trained in dealing with medical emergencies, who saw what was going on with her own eyes, who is basically telling the jury the cops killed this guy. Plus, she intimated that she could’ve helped, and maybe even saved Floyd’s life.
While the exchange with the judge at the end was more than much ado about nothing, I don’t think the witness’ combativeness with defense counsel will detract from her testimony.
Lawyers (understandably) don’t like it when witnesses don’t answer the question, argue, and make speeches. Judges don’t like that either. And this witness was cautioned several times before the judge lectured her. He did that out of the presence of a jury, of course.
I don’t think the jury will take any points away from the witness because of any arguing she does. Yes, it appears she clearly is siding with the prosecution, but I think what comes across is that she is, in effect, an impartial arbiter of sorts who happened upon the scene who has concluded what the cop did was wrong. I can see that being very important to the jurors.
Having said all that, the witness would be smart if she stops violating the rules when her testimony resumes tomorrow.
Given the make up of this jury, however, I would be somewhat surprised if the cop is convicted on all charges. I think they will convict him of something, though, because what he did was clearly wrong in the sense of how juries view right and wrong. We shall see.
