From what I've read the current vaccines offer some degree of protection but that booster shots will ultimately be required to give full effective protection. That is discussed here:

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/one ... 07522.html

Pfizer and Moderna said in January that they planned to develop and test booster shots to tackle the B.1.351 variant. That means vaccinated people may need to get a follow-up shot ... vaccines probably still confer some degree of protection against these variants, even if they're less effective.

TD (tetanus and diphtheria) require booster shots every ten years so this should not be viewed as any major inconvenience.

Meantime, we need to continue to take the usual precautions mask wearing, hand washing, social distancing, etc.

Amen. I’m not rushing out to mingle with the “madding crowd”!

One thing that has not been emphasized much in the media is that those over 16 can now qualify for vaccines such as in Massachusetts:

https://www.advisory.com/daily-briefing ... the-nation

Massachusetts: Gov. Charlie Baker (R) in a tweet on Wednesday announced that that all Massachusetts residents ages 16 and older will be eligible to receive a Covid-19 vaccine on April 19. Baker said the state will gradually expand vaccine eligibility—opening vaccinations to adults ages 60 and older as well as employees in certain fields to receive vaccines beginning on March 22 and adults ages 55 and older and those with a certain medical condition starting on April 5 (Williams, The Hill, 3/17).

Lake Wobegone is making some progress along these lines as well:

https://mn.gov/covid19/vaccine/whos-get ... inated.jsp

Let's hope a vax can be developed for all children under 16 real soon. To me, that more than anything else is what will finally put the clamp down on the covid menace.

anybody have any idea where the white house is getting 27 million vaccine doses per week delivered/distributed by producers?

i had 20 million plus a week ago, and it looks like pfizer's better this week, but is up from 9.2 to 11.4 million.
moderna at 6.8 million.
jnj @ an average of about 4 million per week (but 2 million per cdc data).

where's the other 5 million + the white house is talking about?

maybe he's talking next week and pfizer's gonna pop a much bigger number (as promised)?

You can't help but wonder if this CoronaVirus emergency does not carry the seeds of a much improved American society. A society where caring and helping are more valued. A society where science and engineering become more valued and respected. Kids want to be doctors and researchers again, not stock brokers and bankers. Build things rather than finance them.

amazed at how many deer hunters spend and spend on the actual killing.

meat prep?

strangely ignored by "long time, forever hunters"

My Brother in law, soaks his venison in a cooler of ice and water for a day or two, takes all the blood out of it and removes damned near all of that 'gamey' taste of venison. At that point, he treats like any other beef he'd purchase. He did a side by side of cooked venison that was ice bathed and not...there was a noticeable difference; cooler ice bath wins by a long shot.
