Upside down game. Solid first half followed by 0-10 collapse. Jays need to concentrate on 60 minute efforts.

Huh? The offense had, what, 2 total possessions in the 3rd quarter? In no way shape or form is this on Epstein. Gimme a break.primitiveskills wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 2:42 pm Oh well. Fun while it lasted. Hard to pick out the worst part of that quarter, but that terrible low-angle shot by Epstein when Maryland was gaining momentum was a killer. He's bearing an outsized responsibility with this offense, so hard to be critical, but that was a crusher.

Credit Maryland (and their new O coordinator) for ramping up the motion offense in the second half. Good ball movement and off-ball movement is precisely how you beat JK’s defense.
Credit Maryland’s goalie for a great game.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
the nice thing about milliman and his team, if they still want to continue after this, is that they didn't recruit most of these kids. Never met their parents, never looked them in the eye at a young age, made grand promises, and sang them sweet songs. Don't owe them anything, don't have an emotional attachment, and don't have to continue to put them on the field to watch them make the same mistakes and play the same lacrosse they've played for their careers. Interesting this week if Milliman decides to start giving the bench and future guys a longer look to see if he's got anything there and can start making decisions about who he wants long term.

Not putting it on Epstein. Just noting that that seemed a critical point in the game. We control the ball there and get a goal to stop the bleeding, who knows?HopFan16 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 2:56 pmHuh? The offense had, what, 2 total possessions in the 3rd quarter? The effort and body language on some of the players is terrible. Specifically 16. He can find a place on the bench any time.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
Tillman needs to call off the dogs. Not good sportsman ship to embarrass college kids.

Williams had 5 pts today from the midfield. Take a walk. Get some fresh air. Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
No need to talk more about the 3Q. Some positives...
- Cole Williams had a nice game
- Tyler Dunn looked good at FO. A viable third option.
- Continued playing hard in the 4th
- Reinson had a nice game. The move to close has been good for him.
- Jake Lilly looking like a legitimate SSDM
- When not shooting overselves in the foot, we competed well with the best team in the country.

did you see the 3rd quarter, did you see all the wasted possesions in the second. It's now a question like so many other seasons, do you try to continue to resurrect veterans who don't perform or do you move to evaluate guys who could help you win the next 2-3 years.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 3:08 pmWilliams had 5 pts today from the midfield. Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
Blue Jays played a competitive first half against Maryland.
Turnovers really decided this game. Cole Williams had a good game, but boy ... he made some costly and untimely turnovers, too. Hopkins needs to work on clears against the ride.
Blue Jays need to improve their off-ball defense. Kirson had a solid game, but he probably wishes he could have a couple of those shots back.
Still, the Blue Jays made some progress against one of the best teams in college lacrosse. I think their focus should be on continuing to improve during “Season A” and then come roaring back in “Season B”.
Making the NCAA tournament will be a tall order for this year’s team, but wouldn’t give up on them yet. Lots of lacrosse (hopefully) left to play.
This Johns Hopkins team has shown flashes of potential. Tough job adapting to a new staff and system during a pandemic ... but it’s clear the players haven’t given up on the season. Neither should we.
Congratulations to the Terps on a hard-fought win. See ya at Homewood.

P.S. BTN+ announcers are good, but the technical quality of the broadcasts suck. I pay $14.99/month for that cr*p?!?

Yes I saw, the 3rd quarter was awful. Your post was still dumb.jhu06 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 3:11 pmdid you see the 3rd quarter, did you see all the wasted possesions in the second. I’m actually shocked that people are praising his game today. He’s a 5th year senior and his turnovers completely impacted momentum. On another note if anyone has seen Grimes please let the authorities know as he was reported missing.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 3:19 pm Blue Jays played a competitive first half against Maryland.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
At the end of the day this is about the result I expected but how we got there sure was not. The first half gives me hope, the third quarter makes me think getting back to proper competency in the middle of the field and in the clearing game is going to require a complete roster turnover.
The weakest points of this team continue to rear their ugly heads which certainly gives credence to the idea that week to week coaching decisions of the prior staff weren't the only thing standing in the way. Ugly groundball play and giving opposing offenses way too many second chances are familiar hallmarks of the last few years and if there was one thing I was hoping a new staff would/could fix it was the clearing game. But man does this just look like more of the same. Either there is more deprogramming to be done or the current crop of poles and rope unit is just beyond help.

It's a little egregious to ask that price for something that looks like someone filming on their cellphoneDocBarrister wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 3:19 pm

The vertical shots were vertigo inducing. Fortunately, I stopped watching at the half.

Plus, the typical moon shots at “Maryland Stadium” (the new name for the Stadium-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named) didn’t help either. Isn’t it time for Maryland to play in a more lacrosse-appropriate stadium?primitiveskills wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 3:26 pmIt's a little egregious to ask that price for something that looks like someone filming on their cellphoneDocBarrister wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 3:19 pm
