It looks like Georgetown plays Mt. Saint Mary's tomorrow, which hasn't been an offensive powerhouse so far this season. Therefore, GT's defensive dominance should continue. I wonder if they can keep the one goal against streak going?

Rankings are pretty consistent across the different groups. Interesting that the coaches have UNC #1 vs. the others.

Ok, who voted for Princeton and Cornell after they shut down the season? That’s a joke.

Better question is who voted for Villanova when they lost 18-1 against Georgetown. That no-show should disqualify a team for receiving any votes.

The crazy thing is 1-2 pts means 1 20th vote, 2 worth votes and or 1 19th which means folks had to actively say, I think the portion of the tram that simply matriculates but isn’t playing in Ithaca is better than 60-65 teams out there. Not like they were just stupidly left at some preseason higher level.

I think right now, you’d have to go with Heels,
though I doubt anyone wants that target on their
backs right now.

5 Rutgers (3 - 0)
6 Syracuse (2 - 1)
7 Army (3 - 1)
8 Notre Dame (2 - 0)
9 Virginia (5 - 1)
10 Denver (5 - 2)
11 Lehigh (2 - 0)
12 Penn State (1 - 2)
13 Loyola (2 - 2)
14 UMass (0 - 0)
15 Navy (2 - 0)
16 UAlbany (2 - 0)
17 Ohio State (1 - 2)

I don't think it makes sense to rank UMass at this point. We're well into March and they haven't played. If they win when they return throw them back in the top 20 but for now I'd keep it to teams that have at least started their seasons.

Richmond has not looked good this year. I'd throw a team like Delaware in there instead.

I agree on UMass, but still expect they will be in the top 20 on Monday. Delaware could be there. But, I would put them behind Hofstra. And Hostra did not play so that would be strange to move Hofstra up without playing... With more games, I could see Hobart and Bucknell in the top 20 too. The top 17-24 are hard to rank.

No offense to Hofstra but they did lose to SJU who have gotten blown out by Providence, Georgetown and Denver. From eye test i think Villanova, Bryant and UVM are more qualified.

Richmond should drop out. Umass may as well. Delaware should move up. Wouldn’t be shocked if Umass is out for now also. Maybe Bucknell moves up now finally playing.

How was the "eye test" on Villanova losing 18-1 to Georgetown? I'd say Hofstra at least showed up to play against St. Johns. And I am not saying Hofstra belongs in the top 20 either. Villanova certainly doesn't

My own top 12 for the 2 cents it's worth:

1. UNC 6-0
2. Duke 6-0
3. Maryland 3-0
4. Rutgers 3-0
5. Georgetown 4-0
6. Notre Dame 2-0
7,8,9 UVA 5-1, Army 3-1, Syracuse 2-1 in some order depending on how I'm feeling at any given moment
10. Denver 5-2
11. Lehigh 2-0
12. Albany 2-0

If required to fill out a top 20 I would dart board the following: Penn State 1-2, Loyola 2-2, Umass 0-0, Delaware 4-1, Bryant 3-1, Hofstra 3-1, UMBC 2-0, Navy 2-0, Villanova 2-1, and Bucknell 1-0

I am not a Nova backer fwiw. I simply said three teams were more qualified, based on body of work. I never said Nova was a legit top 20. Just that they seemed to be more qualified for consideration than Hofstra. Nova beating Marquette, who lost to top 10 Denver by 1, beating Providence and losing to #4 Georgetown albeit badly in week 1 still seems a better resume than Hofstra at #20.

As regards the eye test, I'm more of an Al Davis "just win Baby" evaluator which is why I put Nova on my 13 and down dart board. One clinker of an outing against a good team provided it remains an outlier registers only as a loss not even as a bad loss in my eyes. I see a string of close losses even against stiff competition as far more unsettling and disqualifying.

Agree 100% on UMass. I'm sorry they haven't been able to play yet, but we're three/four weeks into the season. If you're going to rank teams that haven't played yet, why not include the Ivies?

As for Delaware, the Hens are going to surprise and maybe even shock some teams if they advance to the NCAAT. They are well-balanced and loaded at attack. That said, I'm not conceding the CAA to Delaware. The Hens will first have to get past the Gorillas. :)

If they could, they would. The season would be over and pundits would be arguing over whether Rutgers was better or worse than Yale. Besides UMass, what about Notre Dame. How in heaven's name can they be ranked where they are after beating Robert Morris and Bellarmine?!
