I used to work with traffic engineers when I did zoning and planning work. They had all these formulas about the most efficient way to handle traffic at an intersection. Stop signs, traffic lights, circles, overpasses. I forget all the details, but those guys loved to talk traffic flows.

I used to enjoy driving into a circle and staying there, pretending to be a Nascar driver doing loops until there was a fiery crash or needing a pit stop.
I like circles except when the timid are indecisive. Not being able to make a left turn or pump your own gas in NJ was annoying.

Re: Orange Duce
The rule in Eastern Mass is that you floor it on approach as whoever gets to the roundabout first has the right of way
Same deal in Montreal except it's more of a sport there.

Sea breeze, the amusement park, doesn’t exist still does it? Thought it’s been gone since mid late 2000s.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 3:07 pmInteresting that here in my little part of upstate ny roundabouts are all the brand new rage. They put them in a couple of years ago in the Seabreeze expressway near my house. They replaced traffic lights at 4 intersections. Everybody was confused how they worked at first and many people still have not figured them out yet. They theory was they maintain a flow of traffic going in all directions. The reality is cars entering the roundabout have no clue as to which vehicle has the right if way.njbill wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 2:37 pm Definitely. That was it. Folks I’d talk to who were in the know in Jersey said that was the reason for the jughandles and the concrete/paving make work.ardilla secreta wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 3:29 pm I used to enjoy driving into a circle and staying there, pretending to be a Nascar driver doing loops until there was a fiery crash or needing a pit stop.

They were closed last summer because of Covid. They are still going strong. They might open up this May. There are a lot of locals that want to ride the jack rabbit. The carousel was rebuilt after the original burned down in a fire in the late 90s. Seabreeze is still a great place to take a family and have a lot of fun. My kids use to love the water park and the water slides.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 3:35 pmSea breeze, the amusement park, doesn’t exist still does it? I liked the log ride. Good splash. Last time I was around there was an aunts funeral nearby in 08 or 09 (like walking distance from the park and water) but it was winter and looked permanently closed.
There was a good old one in Candaigua which must’ve closed in the early 90s called Roseland I vaguely recall them having famous carousel horses or something.

When I clicked on link and first saw “jughandle animation” I said to myself, “I didn’t know Bill got down like this, maybe I had him all wrong”. Then I realized you were referring to the discussion around driving in Jersey.

Big story around these parts, as you would imagine. We’ll see how it all shakes out, but don’t know how far the prosecution is going to get if he really blew .02.

Funny that the opinion writer's affinity for Springsteen music is limited to one song . . . written by Tom Waits.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 10:16 pm

Request for a stay in the Trump v. Vance matter is denied.

So what does this mean?
And... Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch would hear the Pennsylvania election cases, stepping the federal courts into the state conduct of the elections and potentially countermanding the PA Supreme Court on an issue of PA state law?
