#4 Syracuse at #3 Loyola

Post by Cletus »

Only 3 hours away now, this is one of the most anticipated matchups of the young season. As for the history between the two teams:

"Syracuse and Loyola meet for the 21st time. The Orange own a 14-6 advantage in the all-time series. In 2019, the Orange defeated Loyola, 15-11, in Syracuse. Hawryschuk had four goals to lead the 'Cuse."

I'm still picking Loyola. I've seen enough Jekyll and Hyde performances by the Orange to know there's always a chance for another good team to knock them off. Loyola was solid in their 5-0 2020 season. 4 of the wins were against ranked opponents. Their last 3 wins were all on the road vs #4 Fla, #19 PSU, #9 Penn. If they pick up where they left off, they'll win as the steadier, more offensively dangerous club. That's how I see it anyway.

Weather forecast

Going to be frigid on the field today. Partly cloudy with temps in the low 30's with 15mph winds from the WNW making the real feel around 20. Brrrr! The ladies are brave!

I'd be disappointed if the game was in the bubble. Something about playing outdoors that makes the game more authentic.

Yep. Hounds have to get their legs under them, stop making dumb passes on the clear, and swing the ball better.

Emily Ehle, the 5'11 transfer from Georgetown, getting the start on Attack for Cuse. She went to HS in Syracuse Area, underrated pickup. She averaged about 45-50 points each of her 3 seasons with Georgetown...

I know Gary would love to get Widner taking draws on a consistent basis again. Before she went down with an ACL in 2018, she was dominant in the draw with 156 DC’s in ‘17

Surprised....early in game but Syracuse looks complete D and O
Loyola D looks disjointed. They will need to keep doing well on draw or
its gonna be over by half.
