Johns Hopkins 2021
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
UNC is currently the best team in NCAA Lacrosse. Chris Gray goes down, still the best? Still beat High Point? etc. They're not nearly as good. And the pundits will express this. Then, Gray is back. the pundits should go back to seeing what they saw. and they would. yet, with JHU, even though they were legit with Epstein, they still treat JHU like they're Epstein-less. It's silly...

I’m not seeing all that much hate,
maybe my Hate-o-Meter is off.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
I don’t necessarily perceive hate either. We weren’t very good last year to deserve to be ranked higher. It is what it is.
I see potential in this team to do better things that what is projected of us, but it’s only potential right now.

Look at the B1G Rankings above. Look at the National Rankings...

hopkins was 8 and 8 in 2019.

...and beat UMD twice as well as UNC. JHU was good. Top 10.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
they're 10 and 12 the last 2 years.
you just mocked su as defending champs when all they did was just finish as the number one ranked, undefeated team last year. and what, someone backed them is the crime? and it looks like you're not alone.
it's a fresh season. they get a chance to tear it up soon enough.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
Outside of the "superteams" (those that loaded up with all kinds of transfer talent over the past 2 seasons.... UNC, Duke, Maryland), I have no idea how to assess everyone else, given the truncation of last season, the strange COVID-y beginning to this season, no Ivy lacrosse, and other variables (new FO rule, new coaches, etc). And neither do the pundits.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
I took his comment to mean within the Big Ten specifically. Rutgers was 9-12 the last two years and 2-4 in the conference including a loss to Hopkins. The Jays were 4-3 in the conference in 2019. And yet the overwhelming consensus in the preseason polls is that Rutgers is higher both nationally and in the conference. Again—I'm fine with it. It's nitpicking. They'll have their chances to prove it on the field. But I absolutely think there is an argument to be made that not enough people are factoring in Epstein's healthy return to the lineup. We'll know soon enough.

First, I'm an SU fan (as well as other teams). With this said, SU was 5-0 and their three best wins were against Army, Hobart, and JHU (who was struggling). Cornell was 5-0 and they beat PSU, OSU, and Albany. (From where I'm sitting, I thought Cornell should've been #1.) UNC was 7-0 and beat Denver (and JHU). P'ton was 5-0 and beat UVA (and JHU). My point being that SU was *for sure* not clearly the top team in the country. None the less, even though the season stopped at a completely random point in the season and even for this random, it wasn't clear that SU was #1 and, none the less, people say, SU was #1 in 2020! i find this ridiculous.

The pre-season disrespect doesn’t bother me.
If the Blue Jays beat Ohio State on Saturday, the respect will come.
This is a talented team. If they can come together as a team, Hopkins will be a tough out for any opponent.

2020 was cut short. In 2019, JHU lost 17-18 to PSU in the B1G Finals. And look at their Ranking in 2021. People forgot about Epstein...HopFan16 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 8:04 pm I took his comment to mean within the Big Ten specifically. btw, they're preseason #3 or 4 in a lot of polls in their own conference. it's preseason. no one cares. well, almost no one.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2021
"pundits".
they talk about wives giving haircuts and course curriculums when teams are riding for 4th quarter goals. don't note when a top attackman is out of the game for over a half except thinking he's on manup.
