Picky, picayune point perhaps, but the schedule as posted has a star for the Marquette game, indicating an ACC conference game. Wrong (and thus no AQ...).

Rather large development with Brad Smith out indefinitely. Anyone have any other info on this?

Duke takes down Furman, 17-9, without Smith, Manown. Starters and regulars who would play in most games were in until last three minutes or so. I think Carpenter, Seau, and Robertson each had three goals.

One observation: I don't think the new rules necessarily require two-way middies, but I think they do make it necessary to run a second offensive unit with more regularity than some teams have done in recent years, and you better rotate three, if not four ssdms. Duke's second middies, two of whom are on emo, and the third, who had a hat trick and played at least once on emd, were not role players tonight.

Correction: Seau had 2 and 2, not 3 goals.

Duke going to need Smith to win NC but that is down the road. Duke is Duke and they have plenty to win plenty

“Tony Seaman hired Danowski as an assistant coach (at C.W. Post) in 1982 before moving on to Penn (where Seaman hired yet another high school coach as assistant, local Bob Brinton).

This was an era where coaches like Seaman,
(who coached at Quint’s old school, Lynbrook), Dave Cottle, Bill Tierney and Danowski were making the transition from high school to college.

"Coach Dino" won 27 games at CW Post, joined Hofstra in 1986 and was there 21 years, winning 192 games. In 2007, (after coaching Hofstra to a 17-2 record and a number 3 seed), he took over at Duke and turned a bad situation into a dynasty, winning NCAA titles in 2010, 2013 and 2014. He's a teacher whose classroom happens to be located on a lacrosse field”

Smith's absence is allowing Duke to develop depth early. This is not going to be a good year for teams that play a short bench. Duke's first six middies looked almost interchangeable against Furman. High Point should allow another opportunity to develop a balanced stable of scorers.

Duke seems crazy deep at midfield.

This point is very true about them being young!

It was only Furman though, preseason rank of about 60! I doubt more than 3/4 of them will actually pan out, but that's enough for first line!

Badour and Montgomery weren't listed as starters and Brad Smith didn't play. Smith may be an attackman when he returns, but that bumps one of the starting attackmen to midfield. Also Manown didn't play according to the box score, so if/when he returns he may bumps an attackmen to midfield. Crazy deep.

Watched some of the Furman game. Very happy to see Jake Seau have some on the field success. Hoping he stays healthy. It has not been easy. Same goes for Jack Falk. I have always rooted for those two.

Montgomery was obviously a starter this year after his freshman campaign. Badour was more of a surprise yeah but one everyone knew could come good post injury. I don't think Manown is rated by Duke, wouldn't be surprised to not see much of him. Smith coming back though yes does bump someone up

Was hoping to catch tonight's game, but it is only available if you have espn on cable. I don't think there is much doubt as to the outcome, but High Point is probably capable of giving Duke more of a challenge than Furman. I guess lives stats will have to do.

I suspect Duke’s depth will allow them to pull away in the second half of this game, but they are sleep walking so far. Sloppy, lethargic. Tied at 4 late 2nd. High Point has possessed the ball for long stretches of time.
