I could’ve done w/o the newsroom in season 5 but some endings were goodkramerica.inc wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:23 amI could rewatch The Wire every couple years. Good stuff. And there's a lot to catch. I didn't watch it when it first came out. When I finally caught up to it on Amazon Prime a few years ago, it completely ruined my sleep schedule- I couldn't stop watching! Even the "lesser" seasons focusing on the docks and newspaper, were enjoyable. Truthfully I thought the first few episodes of Season 1 were the worst and hardest to get through.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:13 amI plan to get back to it.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:12 amSeason three is when Marlowes story really picks up.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:14 amI need to get back to The Wire. Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

The Hudsucker Proxy is a fun one too. Seems to get overlooked a lot.
Re: "The Deep State" aka the American Intelligence Community
.....and just like that? The fake Deep State is no more. We're talking about movies instead of invented coups that didn't happen.

Saw many, but catching up on some of the more esoteric ones I missed. Some good ones. Some duds.
Watched "A Serious Man" last night. Missed it when it came out. Slow roller. But enjoyed it. Probably would have resonated more if I had grown up in a Jewish household. But still entertaining.
Rough order for me:
Blood Simple
No Country
O Brother
True Grit
Barton Fink
Lebowski
Fargo
Raising AZ
Serious Man
Still have to watch Buster Scruggs and Man Who Wasn't There
Some goofy and weird period takes thrown in there. But many have a real melancholy and/or unsettling mood.
For those unfamiliar, regardless of mood, none are really light and frivolous watches. That is, they usually require some attention to enjoy.
But enjoyable if you're looking for some movies that aren't just what they appear on the surface.
Buster Scruggs is good

As someone who worked in a newsroom, I found it interesting. But def not the best season.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:41 amI could’ve done w/o the newsroom in season 5 but some endings were goodkramerica.inc wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:23 amI could rewatch The Wire every couple years. Fiona Hill knows all about conducting a coup from within, as is soon to be confirmed.

So Kevin Clinesmith was sentenced to 12 months probation today for altering an email (adding a true fact) that was submitted as part of a FISA application.
Boy, that John Durham appointment sure bore fruit. I wonder if this is it?

...added a true fact ? I thought it was an honest mistake. Does he still have his law license ?
Re: "The Deep State" aka the American Intelligence Community
He altered an email someone else had written to add something that was true.
Of course, it was wrong to alter the email.
As I have written before, he should’ve simply contacted the author of the email and asked him to add the fact and then resend the email.
Haven’t heard anything about his law license, but I suspect it is in deep Doo Doo.

Salty's very Q-like in his commitment to the Deep State, Fake News, "coup" narrative.

Miller's Crossing is a very under-rated Coen Bros movie.
Boycott stupid. If you ignore the gator troll, eventually he'll just go back under his bridge.
