Scrimmages coming up

Post by lions89lax »

Anyone know of any scrimmages coming up? Many of the Florida schools have stuff this weekend and the following weekend many other teams open up with games / scrimmages. Thoughts?

Saturday 2/6 Limestone travels to Jacksonville U for a scrimmage (actually an exhibition). Limited spectators allowed according to university policy:

OMO scrimmaged Lenoir-Rhyne on the afternoon of Jan 30 at a sparely attended neutral site in NC. The play looked even as both teams freely substituted. The game was tied 8 - 8 at the end of the third quarter. Late in the final period, Lenoi-Rhyne pulled away with a final score of 13 - 9.

Yes, it was a typo, my apologies. UMO or University of Mount Olive. sparely = sparsely

If that scrimmage score is true that was a very competitive game! I also heard that UMO only lost to HPU by 7 last week.

Mount Olive played High Point on January 23, but I do not have details. Sounds like good scrimmage games with both HP and LR by the sound of things.

Not sure if it was a scrimmage or not-but LR lost to Mercer 17-4 last on Saturday. Listed as an exhibition on LR's site, but a game on Mercer's. Game was competitive for a half-but Mercer player their starters throughout and LR subbed a lot in the second half. LR was also missing something like 4 starters including 2 starting attackmen (1 being the preseason D2 attackman of the year Eric Dickinson), 1 middie, and 1 close defender. Mercer was still without leading scorer from last year-Sean Goldsmith.

I had hear LR looked impressive in their scrimmage against UMO, but the offense against Mercer was very stagnant and the defense looked very inexperienced.

Were LR starters playing against UMO? and I had heard that some LR missed the Mercer game due to COVID-19

I read for whatever reason it was an official game for Mercer and counts, but for LR it doesn’t count in the standings. Either way it wasn’t close. They got outshot 57-19. Even with the players that were missing it might have been a little bit closer but not much.
