NESCAC
Re: NESCAC 2020
Pretty reliable source told me that NESCAC coaches are currently planning for a truncated 2021 season in which the NESCAC is split into two geographic divisions (east and west), each team gets 8 divisional games and the top two teams from each division play off for a NESCAC championship. No idea whether this will actually come to fruition.
Re: NESCAC 2020
That would be fun....lets hope some version of it happens...
Re: NESCAC 2020
While it would be great to see the east / west split mentioned happen, I think there might be some significant hurdles. I understand at least a couple of schools not bringing all students back. Don’t know how they will be able to field teams with potentially whole classes missing. I’ve also heard that at Amherst, for example, if students not physically living on campus (inside the bubble), then they cannot participate in any on-campus activities, including sports. I’ve heard the entire junior and senior classes of lax players living off campus, so they could not play. Maybe Amherst not planning on fielding a team, and the east / west split would work for all other teams, if those not bringing a class back can figure out how to make it work.
Re: NESCAC 2020
I know that at the D2 level schools that had limited students on campus like Mercy College in the ECC exempted all athletes and brought them all back. I know that other institutions required all off campus students to adhere to the universities and athletic department guidelines and protocols. They would be tested with the rest of the students. I think this would be the only way it would work for those institutions to be able to compete.PicLax wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 9:32 am While it would be great to see the east / west split mentioned happen, I think there might be some significant hurdles. Re: NESCAC 2020
Just read patriot league will be playing a modified season splitting into two divisions. That is a good sign I would think(hope). Has anyone heard of plans to play for the upcoming season? With the a vaccine out and other sports playing this winter hopefully that is good news for spring lacrosse. Would be great to see the kids play this season.

Re: NESCAC 2020
With all the questions swirling about the NESCAC as to Amherst perhaps not playing, an east and west division,no out of conference games I know of a school in Lexington, Va., that would be a great alternative choice.

Might as well make a trip out of it and stop by the Battlefield on the way to Lexington!

Re: NESCAC 2020
I hear there's a president's meeting next Friday....decision pending with 3 options on the table.
1. Normal Season
2. Divide up into East/West
3. No conference play and every team can decide for themselves how and if to play this spring.
Just my guess - 0% chance for option 1, 25% chance for option 2...but at this point Option 3 would work...just figure out how to play games somehow...
