Well, (apparently) the positivity rate has been going up, coupled with the increasing daily pace, so if accurate (I have no idea) that testing was down a bit, then indeed we might well surmise that the infection has been growing even more rapidly than what's shown in the progression of the list.wgdsr wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 12:06 pmno idea. anecdotal reports (someone on fanlax maybe even chimed in with an experience) were that tests were being saved up a bit for a possible post-thanksgiving rush. last week and a half coulda been anything. people travelling, folks taking "check up or check in" tests but not really covid candidates otherwise weren't getting them for their job or whatever. or reporting backed up.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 11:55 amDo I take it that you think the acceleration in infections may be even faster than the above indicates?wgdsr wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 10:46 amwe're doing more tests. if we didn't test so much, there wouldn't be cases.CU88 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 6:59 am Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security

thanksgiving holiday made the last 10 days screwy. tests were even well down for the first time. this coming week should put us back on track to see what kind of progression is happening.
The other metric that's very concerning is hospitalizations.
like i said, screwy. we'll know more in the next week, more likely 2 as the past 7 days don't give a good comparison.
was in a hospital last night. ghost town. very low incidence in our community compared to a lot of places, though. someone's gonna need to tell the docs there about joe's new mask ask.
Not something that means much materially to me, though, as the pace of that list is really, really bad as it is. Doesn't really matter whether it's Even worse...it's going the wrong direction.
The growth rate in hospitalizations is what makes this thing particularly concerning, regardless of the accuracy of the rest.
