When you get the flu, do you walk in to get vaccinated? Or when you get the measles, do you get vaccinated? How long have you been waiting on answers to those questions?ABV 8.3% wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 9:03 amThe fact that you never consider the numbers is the part that is telling. You ignore this. Always. Does Colorado use different ABV measurement, than, say, New York. Or, do they just "assume" the vodka content?a fan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 8:51 amYes. But you forget that ALL causes of death have the same issues. You're convinced that ONLY Covid deaths are counted this way. How many Americans die from heart disease, when the REAL problem is that they're simply old? You ignore this, because you're on a Covid crusade for whatever reason.
You still haven't answered. For the same reason all the "Fear Porn" people don't want to answer this question. You know you're going to sound insane. So you refuse to answer the question, and then pull a "look a squirrel" with alcohol.
Right. Only the things YOU don't want to hear is fear porn. That much I have figured out. So you're overjoyed to give me numbers on deaths from causes other than Cancer. Oh THOSE numbers are accurate, and would NEVER be manipulated. But the numbers from Covid are wrong. Because of course they are.
And then when I try and set those numbers aside, and ask you how many dead from Covid is acceptable to you? You won't say.
So you take us around in a circle again. Essentially, as usual, you're telling all of us that we're doing it wrong. But you won't tell us what doing it right looks like. Because you don't know.
and, once again, you gloss over the payment /reimbursement factor.
trump sending that big white boat to NYC again?
you, without hesitation , spew data numbers. To prove what point?
NO ONE, including you, answers the important questions. LIKE....for instance
If a person has a positive covid test, meaning they are infected, can they get a vaccine?
but, lets have more placing the blame on medical problems on ONE person......almost a thousand pages of it.
I love Cabo........didn't know we could fly to Mexico write now. (you MUST be spending lots and lots of time bashing your mayor, write ?

YOU said to close all businesses or none. YOU. Not me.
So you're governor of a State. Which one do you choose. Now that I pointed out that you can't eat if ALL businesses are closed, you've obviously figured out that your choice is to keep all businesses open.
So we're now that you've chosen to not shut down or limit a single business, we're back to my question: how many dead from Covid is acceptable to you? Simple question. If I am dying of covid, and I decide to jump off the bridge....what is the cause of death? . You ignore the reimbursement aspect when it comes to V19 designation. But, I will answer your nonsense question. NONE. None dead. That is how many are unacceptable to me.
You have baked in some assumptions. Ask your administrators not some guy on Yaper.ABV 8.3% wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 9:14 am apparently, forever.
So, answer this. I can't get a vaccine because I have covid. Makes sense, as you pointed out. Now, sherlock. I am the starting LSM at CollegeU. Most feel mandatory vaccines will be required for lax players. Heck, I think ticketmaster is requiring vaccines for purchases
(is this true? )
Or, getting onto a plane, or a job, or....or.
If I can't get a vaccine, because I have covid, which also means I can't play lacrosse this season? Or ever?
Of, do you just produce your piece of paper/test results and on the field we go.
You must be the problem solver in these parts......
Summarizing CU's post (above):CU88 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 8:06 am How to manage your virus risk.
The most effective public health messages don’t merely tell people what not to do. They also tell people what they can do with only a small amount of risk.
This sometimes feels counterintuitive, because it gives people permission to take some risks, rather than urging maximum safety all the time. In the long run, though, a more realistic approach is actually the safer one, many experts say.
Human beings are social creatures. Most aren’t going to sit inside their houses for months on end. And pretending otherwise tends to backfire. It leads people to ignore public health advice and take needlessly big risks. “We need different, more nuanced, and more practical messaging about coronavirus safety,” Sarit Golub, a psychology professor at Hunter College, has written.
(Federal officials took a step in this direction this week by shortening the recommended quarantine period after virus exposure.)
Today, I want to give you a three-step guide to risk minimization. It’s based on a Times survey of 700 epidemiologists as well as my conversations with experts and colleagues, like Donald G. McNeil Jr.
1. There is one behavior you should try to eliminate, without exception: Spending time in a confined space (outside your household) where anyone is unmasked.
Don’t eat indoors at a restaurant or friend’s house. Don’t have close, unmasked conversations anywhere, even outdoors. If you must fly, try to not to eat or drink on the plane. If you’re going to work, don’t have lunch in the same room as colleagues. Group lunches have led to outbreaks at hospitals and elsewhere.
2. This next set of behaviors is best to minimize if you can’t avoid it: Spending extended time in indoor spaces, even with universal masking.
Masks aren’t perfect. If you can work out at home rather than at a gym — or do your job or attend religious services remotely — you’re reducing your risk.
3. Now the better news: Several activities are less risky than some people fear.
You don’t need to wear a mask when you go for a walk or a jog. Donald, who’s famously careful, bikes without a mask. “I consider keeping six feet distant outdoors more important than wearing a mask,” he told me. “If I had a birthday candle in my hand and you’re too far away to blow it out, I can’t inhale whatever you exhale.”
You can also feel OK about doing many errands. About 90 percent of the epidemiologists in our survey have recently visited a grocery store, a pharmacy or another store. Just wear a mask, stay distant from others and wash your hands afterward.
The big picture: I find it helpful to think about the notion of a personal risk budget. I don’t spend any of my risk budget on supermarket shopping, because grocery delivery works well for my family. But I do take occasional unmasked, distant walks with one or two friends. They help keep me sane as we head into a long, very hard winter.
For more: The survey of epidemiologists — done by Margot Sanger-Katz, Claire Cain Miller and Quoctrung Bui of The Times — has much more, including how they’re thinking about a vaccine.

They are saying that because literally there is not any data telling them the answer to that question. The study leading to the approval process for the vaccine was not designed to measure that (nor should it have been).ABV 8.3% wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 10:03 am This makes sense, that a vaccine will do nothing to stop the spread. Thanks. Our kids in our town are hybrid and go to school in cohorts Last Spring it was all distant learning. My wife teaches two classes in person and two or three remote but that is college. Was all remote in the Spring after the break.wgdsr wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 11:04 amdidn't see this edit until abv's quote.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 10:06 am I believe local jurisdictions should be making decisions based on community spread. in the spring if i mentioned it, everything was closed down mid-march, online ramped up. county of dozens of schools set 3 grading options to get a calculation on your best grade, and 2 of them were with the expectation that zero work needed to be turned in, or online classes attended, for the next 3 months. needless to say, this led to the vast majority of students choosing that path. 80-90%?
that also then led to quite the battle with my senior, as all of his friends and others choosing to do zero work. 3rd option was a grade bump if you did the work the teachers had on their curriculum (a fraction of real work). which he was required to do for every class or pay rent. moved up almost 30 spots in his class.
for the fall, everything is still online. grading has changed to having to do actual work and attend classes, but tons of kids are failing (f's are up well over 100% as one metric, and not a small number. grades are down across the board.) what is being set out and also not "attending class", so i assume the grading will change to whisk kids thru.
the county board and supe in late june came up with what looked like a very comprehensive plan, with 2 option survey to start (hybrid or online) out to teachers, parents and population. results overwhelmingly came back hybrid, board voted for that to formalize... then a week or 2 later supe decided he wanted to bail on that. gifted/disability students were supposed to be able to come a couple times per week, but i think that got scrapped, too.
county of over 400k has had less than 570 hospitalizations (that equates to about 450k total hospitalizations for the u.s.) throughout the entire pandemic and is at some of its lowest levels now. since september 1, 26 deaths (that is a u.s. equivalent of 224 per day). just as low levels for the months prior to sep 1 also.
i've found that school openings have had little correlation to community spread in my state and nationwide, and much higher correlation to who is in charge. supe just got offered a job in a red state but don't know about his new district. should be interesting.

And what about electricity? Or water plants? Or natural gas. Who runs those? Elves? All automated. If someone has to be there, as in a NUKE power plant, bring in all those FEMA trailers for housing. Simple. Or army tents. Simple.
And what about the government? They don't talk for two weeks? Don't they communicate via internet?
And hospitals? Whoops, you forgot about them. Nope. Didn't. Nor elder care facilities. Or prisons, or prisons, or the US Coast guard.
And police? Whoops, you forgot about them. Nope...not needed if everyone has to stay inside, at home. I did mention drones, correct?
