We were told earlier this summer outdoors were safe, no risk. Studies touted little to no transmission among youth during outdoor athletics.

Suddenly the tune changes - They wont move the general public back to phase 1 in fear of upsetting small busness owners, or upsettign people Thanksgiving plans. But instead shut down outdoor athletics fields and youth programs.

Doing something worthless/harmful just to do it. Ignoring real steps. The politics is unreal. Complete bs.
shortened days, little in person learning. colder days ahead and the prospect of little indoor activity for kids allowed... maybe soon to be not even leaving the house. who knows? their job cannot be easy, but there are some things that certainly make you scratch your head.

government officials likely do need to feel they should be doing something. to do something. then again... have they cancelled basketball season for state colleges where rules like this are in place? football? no, they have not. youth of america have to look at all this and say w.t.f.

I'm all for balancing choices. Shut down indoor events. Limit attendenceat outdoor events. But totally denying kids outsdoor sports is a terrible decision. It's the little bit of normalcy these kids can have. Short sighted and bad choices by our government officials. Empty political signaling.

It's doubly frustrating that there is no one leading with decisions. Every decision that's made by politician leans on an unnamed health official, or OTHER politician. Then they throw their hands up in the air and play dumb when presented with strong evidence or fact based arguments that contradict their decision.

Loyola and calvert hall hs canceled the Turkey bowl football game because of Baltimore County Councilman said no one should play in his district. Meanwhile both teams played a football game a day after the announcement in AA county and MSJ played on the west side of Baltimore. They also had teams playing at the local lacrosse tourney in Columbia.

CH and Loyola should rent a field in Howard Co. to let the boys play.

to be fair, the testing positivity rate in baltimore county had probably just climbed over 4.5%. maybe they have the south korea tests.

question for any who think they can guess how fda might operate in a unique situation here in 2020.

astrazeneca stopped trials for a bit during phase 3. many of the countries picked right back up for their participants pretty quickly, while u.s. participants took quite a bit longer. not looking it up, but that was 20-30k of their 50k worldwide volunteers.

given that there will be a bar of minimum participants and readouts... will the fda care if they're not all u.s. participants? will they use results as they cross the threshold from any nation?

I don’t know the answer from an FDA point of view in my mind, a person is a person. The human immunologic system varies but I doubt enough to invalidate the responses from out of the good ole USA. But who knows.....it’s 2020

The actual play/practice time is quite safe if outdoors.

Turns out that actually the infection vector for youth sports has been the car pools and the hanging around (like during all day tournaments). And that's more of a problem as the weather turns colder (more huddling indoors).
Boycott stupid. If you ignore the gator troll, eventually he'll just go back under his bridge.

A look into the future. Better get your Xmas shopping done this week.

Toronto and Peel Region (Mississauga) begin a minimum 28 day lockdown after reaching a severe spike after their October 12th Thanksgiving. Fines can reach $750 for noncompliance. Essential services like food, drug and building supplies remain open.

RT @DrDenaGrayson: 😱OMG....just 1 day after @CDCgov recommended that people cancel #Thanksgiving travel, passengers packed in tight at Sky Harbor airport in #Phoenix.

New #coronavirus cases will SKYROCKET in December, followed by hospitalizations, then deaths.

Keep us posted Jim.

What are your thoughts on the AstraZeneca vaccine platform. My wife said she favors that one versus the others.

You do realize Joe Biden does not get inaugurated until January 20th 2021 right?? So this in itself, is a BAD TAKE. Trump is still president, whether you like him or not, which the MEDIA CLEARLY DOES NOT. So therefore they will continue to keep up this heavily biased coverage of CV-19 as it is "still his fault" The fact that he has basically given up adds fuel to the fire that Media is HEAVILY PLAYING OFF OF. Lets revisit this say, March 1st and see what a difference a few more months make. If anyone truly thought the media's tone would change one second before Trump was out of The White House, it was some truly FOOLISH thinking....

That IS a terrible take.
After all, the left want to keep controlling what people do long after Biden takes office.
After all, it's their MO.

JoeMauer, that's not what Cruz is saying. He's saying, Immediately after the election if Biden wins. Guaranteed. All a Democrat hoax to make Trump look bad...

all these tests have their limitations.
if you did take all of antigen/antibody/ then pcr:
antibody tests sometimes won't catch your body's reaction for 1-3 weeks:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc ... lines.html
and it's possible your body won't generate enough even then to hit your tests' mark. possibly for good reason (t-cells or low viral load) possibly for not as good (not generating enough antibodies for the virus hit).

antigen isn't as sensitive as pcr and often has to hit the right window, early. pcr should be able to give you an accurate read whether you have it or had it (not sure what you meant about a previous time).

hopefully, no more issues and 10 -14 days from first symptom you can be cleared of it as well as no longer infectious. godspeed.

Good question. Short answer........the one that works? ;)

I think the adenovirus vector has a bunch of upsides like ease of storage and scalability that make it real enticing.
