Parler

Post by a fan »

I saw Kramerica cite a Parler 'post', and I was curious if others were on it.

This is going to be rightwing home to compete with Facebook, apparently. Free market---it's about time folks stopped whining about Facebook, and started a competitor, just like we were all told as American children. This is America. If you don't like it, don't buy it. And if you have the stones, build your own better mousetrap. On that count, good for Parler !

Saw a lib friend call it "MeinSpace", and I'm still laughing.... you have to admit, that's a pretty good one.

Also saw Trump is looking to brand his own social media. Total no brainer. Can't wait to see folks mocking the tinfoil stuff they find there.....

Yup. a bunch of co-workers and acquaintances are all over it already. Another APP is called MeWe which is gaining traction.

Just babies picking up their ball and running away, which is good for my fuxk book feed. All those folks that want to cry about college/xennial cancel culture kids run off in sheer terror because not everyone agrees with them.

Is that really it? Possibly for some. But new social medial pops up regularly when users get tired or annoyed. If you've been on Facebook or Twitter and seen the way they censor messages/throttle trends, it makes sense to me.

Yup.
Sadly, afan seems to be the only one around these parts that understands the why. As he has said on multiple occasions, if you don't like censorship from FB or Twitter, etc ...start your own. So they do, and there is still pettiness. Seems others are fine with someone else telling them they can and can not say.....well, except here at FanLax, then they'll be sure to express themselves rather often.

Delusional right wingers - meet your pals at Parler:

Parler has attracted a range of right-wing extremists. Proud Boys, QAnon adherents, anti-government extremists (Oath Keepers, Three Percenters and militia) and white supremacists (from members of the alt right to accelerationists) openly promote their ideologies on the site, while Holocaust denial, antisemitism, racism and other forms of bigotry are also easy to find.

In the days following the election, extremists and mainstream conservatives alike are using Parler to organize and recruit for pro-Trump (Million MAGA March and #StoptheSteal) events in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere.

No surprise that the site appeals to far right radical delusionals.
It has been proven a hundred times that the surest way to the heart of any man, black or white, honest or dishonest, is through justice and fairness.

You’re kidding right? The crowd I’m talking about isn’t exactly early adopters of technological progress, Facebook is for old people twitter skews younger, the rest the Facebook crowd doesn’t know how to use.

Social media -conceptually for remote maintenance of existing relationships not for politics. Of course for 85%+ of it, with Parler run by a right wing political operative, is about finding an easier echo chamber to jerk off to.

Say what you want don’t run away like a little spoiled girl. Do what you want. Can have a tantrum or run off scares of the real world or deal with it. It’s each persons choice. But actions have consequences, that’s not pettiness on
The other persons part, that’s weakness on the one choosing to run away.

The pettiness is family blood relatives who will drop an existing forum and demand you follow them because they don’t like manipulative lies not being allowed to be amplified.

Trump wouldn’t be president without Twitter.

Nonsense. Plenty of far right radical delusionals have accounts in Twitter.

But it's only the left delusionals that are promoted on the Twitter landing, trending and search pages.

If you can find a trend or link that is "negative" for the left or positive for the right) I'll meet you art a lax game and buy you a tasty beer once this corona thing clears up, Brookie.

I'll buy you one anyway, but let's make it interesting!

Twitter's just another floater in the cesspool that is social media. Just another way to work yourself into a frenzy and confirm how many among us are clueless idiots who think they've got all the answers.
This is perhaps a more important point than Pew’s study indicates, as it demonstrates that even though Twitter’s original goal was to build a “public town square” of sorts, where conversations could take place in the open, Twitter users have built the same isolated bubbles around themselves as they have elsewhere on social media.

Because Twitter’s main timeline only shows tweets and retweets from people you follow, users are only hearing their side of the conversation amplified back to them.

This problem is not unique to Twitter, of course. Facebook, for years, has been heavily criticized for delivering two different versions of reality to its users. An article from The WSJ in 2016 demonstrated how stark this contrast could be, when it showed a “blue” feed and “red” feed, side-by-side.
Friend's wife posted something on Facebook the other day saying you can thank the Dems for the oncoming shut downs recommended by Biden, so they have no business pizzing and moaning about it. This is the kind of krapp that people read, believe, and pass on on social media. I let her know that I thought she could more point her finger at the Rs who became disenchanted with Trump's behavior and jumped ship and voted D this time around as well as the Independents who had seen enough of Trump and voted D this time. So to say the Ds are responsible is either near sighted or turning a blind eye to what the truth might actually be. She actually came back and agreed. JFTR, I generally don't participate in the Facebook cesspool (or any of the others).
