In a dorm of 3 students, 1 of 3 tests positive after the positive kid already had low fever and symptoms, they quarantine and isolate the 3. 5 days later the cv-19+ positive kid tests negative now and is out running/exercising and the other two test negative....this is using the swab that damned near hits your brain.

The Youth don't get hurt (well, most of them) from COVID-19. We could round up everyone over 55, put them in concentrated areas where they can camp out away from society until the young people have herd immunity. We can let the old people out in a year or so when we have enough vaccines for them.

Seems like a plan. We have a problem in our town now..... college kids and poor testing...They are having a great time raging down at the beach.

A double edged sword if implemented 100% across the board. The other edge of the sword will drive a huge number of bars and restaurants out of business forever. They can't survive at 50% capacity with nobody being allowed to "belly up" to the bar. Many of these places make the lion share of their profits on liquor sales. A bunch of the bars where i live that are big into the craft beers on tap had to throw obscene amounts of product down the drain when they were shut down. They had to eat that expense. We all want to beat this virus. We all should understand it comes at a terrible cost to good people who have invested every penny they own into their bars and restaurants. I guess to save the patient you sometimes have to kill thye patient in the process.

We have blown a lot of money across a lot of industustries that didn't need the bailout. We could have spent 1/3 the money if we concentrated our efforts on supoorting the bar/restaurant industry. Less spread, more mobility and less economic damage......

I could not agree with you more. My heart just bleeds for so many of these bar/restaurant owners. They had a bit of a break here this summer with outdoor dining. That is done for the season here in Rochester. They now have to shut down by 10pm every night. The only thing they can do is curbside pickup with no alcohol. Andy might as well just shut it all down again and try and start over from square one. With all the restrictions that have been put in place the infection #s are climbing through the roof all over again. My sister canceled Thanksgiving at her house this year. i called to offer to help serve meals at our open door mission instead. All the meals there are grab and go. Those poor folks can't even sit down inside where it is warm and enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. Normally a couple hundred people would be there to enjoy Thanksgiving. This year you gotta grab your meal and head back out under the bridge. It is just devastating to everybody. None of the people that work so hard to prepare this feast wants this to happen. They have no choice, at least not this year.

Isn't that basically what Florida is?

If there was a casino there my wife and i could easily be persuaded into that sort of isolation. Florida is a deal breaker for me, great place to visit but I would never want to live there. They could infuse the vaccine into a gin and tonic, good to go here.

Same here cradle. The key is to not say "hello", as soon that is heard the recording starts. If you answer "may I help you" it is silence and you know its BS.

I would never answer it. The people I know and care about know my cell #. i don't miss the damn thing at all. You need to talk some sense into your wife. What is the point in having a land line anymore?

I use to say hello and put the phone on the counter and walk away. For entertainment value you could see how long the other folks stay on the line.

Ah. Was it a single dorm room, or like a 3 room dorm with a shared bathroom? Did the other kids have COVID prior to this, or is that not known? Lotta factors at play.

Single room dorm, the other two do not have antibodies.

Not sure there is any logic present in that statement. The point is because we did not do enough to beat down the numbers to very low, we now have a completely widespread pandemic that is at this point out of control.

Abdication by Trump for leading an effective response remains a huge contribution to the problem, and the fact that the feds have not actually solved some of the PPE supply problem likely means this winter will be horrible for COVID cases/deaths.

And as far as anyone can tell, the coronavirus task force is not even meeting anymore...

They met Monday. Issued no statement or information. Chairman VP Pence left for vacation Tuesday.

Trump claimed this would all be over by Easter, told us very definitely there's be no return in the fall, etc, etc...and told us not to wear masks unless we wanted to be made fun of...

So, how does him being so epically wrong make him blameless for the US's failure to crush down the degree of infection through distancing and mask wearing, failing to implement a national testing and tracing strategy?
