Here is the end of McCain’s concession speech. I assume Trump’s communications people, and Jared, are putting something like this together:

“I don't know what more we could have done to try to win this election. I'll leave that to others to determine. Every candidate makes mistakes, and I'm sure I made my share of them. But I won't spend a moment of the future regretting what might have been.

This campaign was and will remain the great honor of my life. And my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude for the experience and to the American people for giving me a fair hearing before deciding that Sen. Obama and my old friend, Sen. Joe Biden, should have the honor of leading us for the next four years.

I would not be an American worthy of the name, should I regret a fate that has allowed me the extraordinary privilege of serving this country for a half a century. Today, I was a candidate for the highest office in the country I love so much. And tonight, I remain her servant. That is blessing enough for anyone and I thank the people of Arizona for it.

Tonight — tonight, more than any night, I hold in my heart nothing but love for this country and for all its citizens, whether they supported me or Sen. Obama, I wish Godspeed to the man who was my former opponent and will be my president.

And I call on all Americans, as I have often in this campaign, to not despair of our present difficulties but to believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here.

Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history. Thank you, and God bless you, and God bless America.”

Not going to be at Fordham. More likely going to be a Biden Library at Penn.

Maybe a for-profit MAGA-land in Branson, Missouri?
Or turn Mar-A-Lago into the library...
I like both of these ideas. The Branson location would make some money.

Not a ripple. Time for you to retire, I think, and dog walk full time.

Biden defeated an incumbent, with every ordinary advantage of incumbency together with a willingness to bend the entirety of the apparatus of the Presidency, from imaging to public money to his reelection campaign. He defeated a relentless liar and cheat. He overcame a cultish devotion of people unwilling to understand the truth both about their hero and about the consequences to them in real terms. In the process Biden flipped four states (AZ, MI, WI, PA) taken by Trump in 2016, and won (or appears to have won) Georgia. That's right: an incumbent Republican couldn't (it appears, at least for now) easily defend Georgia. Your comment is a fail at humor, a fail at anything serious. Maybe get some sleep; read VDH -- it'll help with somnolence.
 ...everyone admires a sore winner. It takes a sense of humor to recognize humor. Your condescending attitude of personally attacking anyone who does not agree with you is representative of the massive disconnect that prevented the blue wave that your favorite media told us was inevitable.

This election was a rejection of Trump the man, not his policies, which I, among others, supported. It was made possible by a pandemic which decimated the economy & flooded the electorate with millions of unsolicited junk mail ballots which would not have been cast in normal times.

The advantage of incumbency ? Being at the helm when China released the pandemic ? Had Trump followed his predecessor's model & unleashed the FBI, CIA & State Dept on his opponent, while purchasing disinformation from a foreign power, imprinting the IC's imprimatur on it, then feeding it to a supplicant MSM -- then he would have used the advantages of incumbency, as his predecessor did in 2016, on behalf of his opponent.

You & Nancy Pelosi should read more VDH to understand why a safe was dropped on your heads.

VDH is an old socialist, who made his money from taxpayers at a socialist university...all while pretending to be a small government conservative. In short, one of millions of Republicans in full denial as to where his paycheck comes from....as such, he's the PERFECT representative for Republican America.

Wake me up when your team has a plan for flyover America. Remember Trump's "forgotten voters"? You didn't remember them? Oh, well, that's ok..neither did Trump.

Under Trump's policies that you like? Flyover America fell even further behind. Rural America is done, barring a major policy shift in America ala Bernie or AOC. Meanwhile, all my liberal pals are riding high, and can't believe how little they pay in taxes.....all while shaking their heads, trying to figure out why anyone not pulling down $500K+ wouldn't want Bernie Sanders' policies put into action.....

Oh well. At least they go to "stick it to the libs" for four years, right?

20 million more ballots cast than in 2016, during a pandemic.

Trump alleged fraud. Many times.

Actually, I’ve come to believe that the best way to run a mail in system is to send ballots, unsolicited, to all registered voters. What is the purpose of the unnecessary step of requiring a voter to request a ballot? Requiring a request is simply a vestige of the old absentee ballot system. It’s extra unnecessary work for the voters and extra unnecessary work for the election workers.

And, it seems, it gets more people to vote. That’s a good thing if you are an American. It’s a bad thing if you are Donald Trump. To quote the very stable genius, if everyone votes, Republicans lose. Well, I guess he was right about that.

The recounts will tell us there was no fraud. Guaranteed.

Might there have been some mistakes? Sure. When you do something over one hundred million times, there will be some mistakes. If Trump has a legal right to a recount, and if he requests one and pays for it if required by law, go ahead and recount.

And, you know what, if there were enough mistakes made to change the result, then I’m fine with that. But don’t hold your breath for any flips.

Query whether Trump screwed himself in his largely unsuccessful efforts to discredit and clamp down on mail ballots. It was kind of like he unilaterally disarmed himself of a pretty useful turnout tool that his opponent used to great effect. Would be big karma if it turns out that is true.

By the way, I think the correct term for a "junk mail ballot" is a legal vote.

Folks in Utah, Washington and Colorado obviously think so.

In 2020, in person election day voting was about one third of the votes cast. That percentage is only going to keep declining in the future. Yet another new normal that will last long after Covid is gone.

The "unnecessary step" is to verify that the voter is still alive & a resident of the jurisdiction for which the ballot applies.
It could be requested electronically. In MD we receive an email confirming receipt of our mailed in ballot.

Anne Applebaum in The Atlantic:
Even if Trump is forced to make a grudging concession speech, even if Biden is sworn in as president on January 20, even if the Trump family is forced to pack its Louis Vuitton suitcases and flee to Mar-a-Lago, it is in Trump’s interest, and a part of the Republican Party’s interest, to maintain the fiction that the election was stolen. That’s because the same base, the base that distrusts American democracy, could still be extremely useful to Trump, as well as to the Republican Party, in years to come.

Certainly these voters can be used to discredit and demean Biden’s presidency. Just as Trump once helped convince millions of Americans that Obama was illegitimate, so he will now seek to convince Americans that Biden is illegitimate. “Biden Is Fake” Facebook groups will be used to gin up Republican votes and support for Republican causes; emails with “Phony Biden” in the subject line will be used to raise money.

Good to see o.s., as a loyal trumpista, doing his part "to discredit and demean Biden’s presidency".

Carry on o.s.!
Don't be a cry baby. I've said nothing negative about Pres elect Biden. I conceded to him Wed a.m. I've posted my hopes on how he can succeed.

We were just forced by the pandemic to conduct a massive experiment in how we conduct national elections. We're fools if we don't examine the process, in retrospect, & strengthen/improve it where possible. Recall 4 years ago. The fear was hacking voting machines. We now have a paper trail that can be audited by recount. We now need to examine the accuracy of the mailing lists used to send out unsolicited ballots & address any opportunity for abuse it presents, FTR : junk mail = unsolicited mail which clutters my mail box.

Not going to be at Fordham. More likely going to be a Biden Library at Penn.

Maybe a for-profit MAGA-land in Branson, Missouri?
Or turn Mar-A-Lago into the library...
I like both of these ideas. The Branson location would make some money.
 ...the responses to this question illustrate why the expected blue wave wasn't even a ripple.

Donald Trump’s supporters didn’t support him so fervently because of his “policies”, which were incoherent, moronic, malignant, and incompetently administered.

No, they loved him because he was an overt, shameless, vulgar, racist, bigoted, and misogynistic piece of trash. He pandered to their worst instincts, like the foul-mouthed carnival barker and con man that he is.

It’s going to take at least a generation to undo all the damage he has done.
