NFL returns tonight
KC vs Houston - hopefully, someday they will learn to properly pronounce that name some day. It should be HOWston, not Hues-ton.
Two of the best young QBs in the game. Will be interesting to see how sharp they are(or are not) since there was no preseason. The season's opening will mean much $$$ for the league:

We know that Washington has dropped the old Red____s name but has not replaced it. There had been talk that the Chiefs nickname would be replaced but I have not heard much about that recently.
Anyways, it's time for some football .....

What is the NFL?

I personally don't equate Chief with Redskin. Chief is akin to King, Trojan or Spartan, in my opinion. What is the equivalent to "Redskin"?

Re: NFL
I would say that’s a good analogy. Chiefs and Braves are a little different in my opinion but if enough people are offended by the use of those names, I would have no issue with them being dropped. Indians is a more offensive mascot name, in my opinion also. It’s a “people” whereas Chiefs and Braves reflects a “status” or “hierarchical designation”. Tribal names would also seem to be more problematic. What little I have read from native Americans leadership suggest that these mascot names are offensive. I am sure, like anything, you can find people that don’t care. What is amazing I have friends of virtually every ethnic designation you can imagine....Friends, not just people I know..... and I don’t have a single Native American friend and this is The USA.Brooklyn wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 8:24 amTypical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 11:04 pm

In the LP days we had Mohawk. But I haven't seen him here as of yet. Be nice if he and a few others missing from the old forum came back to our fold. Indeed, diversity is the spice of life.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 minutes I invested in watching the league opener.

Uh oh. This may need another Drew Brees apology. Two Steelers players exercising their right to individual choice.

Jints blow another one. This time they lose Saquon Barkley with a ACL injury which means he will likely miss the rest of the year.

Another frustrating season for us WOE begotten Jints fans.

Giants lose to Eagles:
https://www.inquirer.com/eagles/live/ph ... 01022.html
Wasn't an Iggles win. It was clearly a Giants loss. Total lack of discipline in 4th quarter with needless penalty after penalty gave it away.
Check for turf monster tripping up QB Jones. That was a good laff.

I don't think any other team in NFL history has ever found more creative ways to lose than have the Jints. To this day I'm still shaking my head over coach Bob Gibson's call that resulted in the Herman Edwards TD for a last second Eagles win. Moron Gibson was fired and he moved to Florida where he opened up a bait shop. Clean up on aisle 6, pal.
Miracle at the Meadowlands ~ ugh. I'll never get over that one.

Oddly, Brady was also part of one of the other worst rushing games in NFL history too.

That's because Hobart alum and highest D3 draft pick ever Ali Marpet had to sit out due to concussion protocol from getting knocked around in 2nd half of the Giants game. My man Ali (really cool dude, from Westchester, his dad looks like a jacked version of the lead singer of Twisted Sister, hoop earring, apparently a renowned director who shoots fashion week and stuff like that in NYC) is on his way to a All Pro and Pro Bowl accolade driven year, but without him, Brady and the offense was lost.
