US involvement in WWII was basically 4 1/2 years (Dec 1941 to summer 1945).

The comparisons to WWII are quite unnecessary. You do realize that no matter how you frame it you are posting that as a reminder to those who you don't think take the virus seriously. On this particular thread, that is a MINORITY. And I promise, those that you perceive don't on this thread, practice good hygiene, wear a mask when it is necessary to do so and take the risks that they feel are worth taking. There is no comparison between WWII and this communicable disease. There is no other purpose to this post, other than to prove some sort of point. Again, just because somebody believes differently in regards to the virus, DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE WRONG! There's no need to consistently remark about the level of deaths we've hit. What in god's name does this accomplish? Again, you've not been the only to post this there have been many. It's a communicable illness, not the black plague. Try and think bigger picture, and spend less time ruminating on what could/shoulda been done. It does zero good, zero.

If you are old, with multiple health conditions (young, for that matter ).......it's potentially serious. Just like the seasonal flu. Or the hundreds of others resipatory ailments.

For a high school senior that lost their lacrosse season? It's really this simple. Our politicians don't wear masks. How did the Dr. from Virginia, and his wife, test positive for V19? He IS the Governor, is he not? remember all the infotainment railing against his lack of concern?

And I'd agree that their swell in cases, now declining, will probably keep them just above us for the next month, given lag. On the other hand, our cases are swelling now and it looks like we'll stay on that trajectory for some time. Not sure there's public policy in the offing, or changed aggregate behavior, that's going to change that trajectory markedly for the next few months.

But no aspersions to Spain, but hardly a comparable we'd normally set for ourselves.

We keep mentioning it because the single biggest cause of the huge number for the US has been the lack of a unified effort based on actual medical and scientific knowledge and data - and the FACT that the current administration bears the largest responsibility for this lack.

I think the #'s could be argued a bit earlier than that as well, but, yes, the language used is real time failure. Current death rates, going back at least into May have been much worse than any other developed nation.

You best find out the answer to this question:

Are other developed nations handing out tens of thousands of dollars to healthcare facilities, for V19 care? Or, death by?

Does the state of New York just have to "assume" a nursing home residents death was due to V19, or do they actually do an autopsy?

(don't pull your usual lame excuse of going down some rabbit hole....answer the questions)
