Just asking, because it certainly seems so. It has no effect on your life.

JoeMauer89!
You can't possibly be serious.

While I agree that each State must make their own choices, and that there is no such thing a "right move" in this pandemic...in other words, no matter what a Governor does, someone is hurt either financially or physically.

But don't tell us that you don't understand that viruses spread, and some kid is going to lose a grandmother over packing tens of thousands of people in close quarters.
You guys really cant take a little dry humor. You don't need to add the last part, I am well aware of the seriousness of the virus and how it spreads. It was just a joke, but it did prove to me how quick some of you guys are to just throw numbers toward a poster whenever you sense THE SLIGHTEST possible somebody doesn't take it serious. That's not ok, its not your guys job to do that. Even if those in charge are not doing their job. There's no sense in getting angry about it happening or not happening. There's nothing anyone can do about it, if that's the decision that will be the decision. That was my facetious point.

JoeMauer89!
Joe, thanks for clarifying that you were just being facetious, not trolling.

I was about to add that my 84 year old mother and 60 year old sister are headed to Florida where my mom will be most of the winter, and where we (63, 61, 27) will visit, hopefully twice for a few weeks each time. My son may stay longer.

DeSantis is an idiot, full-on Trumpist fool. His various actions have and will cost a lot of lives. So, forgive the reaction of posters who are angry at him.

Thankfully, lots of people have recognized that now, so will do their own best to avoid such super spreader situations, but what this ultimately means, in addition to lives unnecessarily lost, is that those who actually are doing their best will have to be all the more careful, all the more limited in their contacts with others, harder and longer. Instead of being comfortable with reasonably distanced dining outside with close friends, far less confidence that fellow diners haven't been inside in restaurants with others who have been at such super spreader events...so, what no dining together, more social isolation? Yup.

The crazy thing is that the virus really could be choked off in places like Florida with only some disruption to normality if everyone just got on board with wearing masks and no group events and no indoor dining, bars, etc.

We'd need to maintain disciplines for a good while, but people needn't be entirely isolated or shut off from life.

“Because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now, the real owners, the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don’t want: They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. Thats against their interests. ”

You mean like denying that UFLorida is the by the book definition of socialism because you're upset that someone pointed out that the socialist Government of Florida educated you?

How you have not recognized that all of these things you ascribe to the left, fit you to a T escapes me.

You need some solid time with that corporate life coach of yours, my man. ;)

Only VERY uneducated rubes mistake basic government functions and services with socialism (an ideology that involves abolishing private ownership with social ownership). You probably think the DMV is socialism...

950,000 according to wiki. .6%. I wouldn’t say that’s very impressive.

While you might differ on the final result from what these doctors do, the issues they raise are of grave concern and should not be taken lightly.

I have a friend whose esophagus had narrowed. He had trouble keeping food down - choking it back up much of the time. Not surprisingly he lost a lot of weight. He was scheduled for surgery in March, but it was considered elective, so due to coronavirus it got postponed till the summer. So he had to suffer 3 more months, and I am sure thought about suicide -- and you are sitting around laughing about it.

This isn't even cancer or something on that level. Let's have a big laugh about the person who didn't get checked out for some type of cancer and dies from it due to that. Ha ha ha ha isn't that funny catbird?

Will Tucker be broadcasting from his outhouse studio in Maine?

If so, Trumpy will be on a split screen. Wonder if the bit will be videotaped ahead of time?

If they do it live, I guarantee you they will have done another test before hand, off camera. If he fails that test, all of a sudden, there will be some very important presidential business that will prevent Trump from going on TV tonight.

At least Trump isn’t doing it on Geraldo Rivera’s show.

There it is. Your sad attempt at a definition. That's wrong, but hey, who cares? Let's call it PeteSocialism from now on.

Guess what? Medical care for citizens is a basic government function, Pete. It's even right there in the ol' Constitution's preamble...."promote the General Welfare"

Now what? You're now telling me under PeteSocialism that you're ok with Government health care, just like your pal Bernie?

Whoops. Now what, Pete? You've just told me that basic services "don't count" as socialism.

You're certainly entertaining this week, Pete, I'll give you that! ;)

You're lumping me in----I didn't throw one single number at you. I'm generally in agreement with what you've posted about the virus. There is no winning move as governors are trying to balance citizens' fiscal and mental health with their actual health. I'm glad I'm not a Governor in 2020....

Where that balancing point is, is an impossible call to make, Joe.

For every person like you who thinks that States should be MORE open, you'll find one person who thinks we should be LESS open.

So which side do you propose each State listen to? Because no matter the choice, millions will think the choice is "wrong".
