This is one EXTREME example of out of 35,000+. There are extreme outliers that come with every virus, this is no different. Its highly unfortunate, but its not meant to be some groundbreaking piece of information that a 19 absolutely CANNOT die from this virus. Again if you consistently hyper-focus on a virus to the point we are doing as a nation never before been done before, there will be a few tragic outcomes such as this. Its unfortunate again, but its so far from the normal outcome of a 19 year old stricken with this virus.

*This important part of the article provides much-needed context:

"Tonia Maxcy, a family friend who taught Chad Dorrill in high school, said doctors told the family that they suspected he had a previously undetected case of Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare neurological disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks nerves. Many viruses can trigger the syndrome, and there have been cases linked to Covid-19.

Tragedy yes, but students dies from over consuming alcohol, hazing, drunken mishaps, car accidents, and of course, suicides. It's a virus...highly contagious, but hardly considered deadly for most.

CAA is planning to play football in the Spring, I consider this a good sign for spring lacrosse. I personally heard a CAA AD say they were hoping to have football and lacrosse double headers.

They have a scheduled weekend off coming up, but it’s hard to see how they will be ready for Florida State on October 10.

College football is struggling with far more resources than lacrosse will ever have.

Unfortunately for Doc, they won't be hospitalized and the games will be played as planned.
The stupidity and callousness of your post notwithstanding, there have already been 23 Division I college football games canceled or postponed, and the season is barely underway.

I am an avid Notre Dame football fan. Would love to see them play. But if Notre Dame is struggling, that’s a really bad sign for college football.

Also, most of the LSU team has been infected with Covid-19. Disrupted their practices and I am certain that contributed to their recent loss to Miss. State.

Doc,
Give it a rest regarding this already. You are not going to change others mind with these "rebukes". People are entitled to their opinions, and DO NOT have to feel shamed/excoriated for them. Its grown tiresome, and I speak for quite a few when I say it.

It all depends on the election. Biden wins = no season. Trump wins = season. Simple enough.

Is that because if Biden wins we become a pandemic ridden, lawless society of socialists and if Trump wins everything opens, pandemic over? That was a question, not an opinion.

What about the reverse? Biden wins; Covid is no longer an above-the-fold daily newspaper topic; colleges re-calibrate their risk/reward ratios?

Predictions are hard, especially about the future.

Why I hope they can play it is not sounding good there right now. Hearing from my friend there this week they have moved to “level 3” high alert.

If the Covfefe Pandemic really is a creation of the liberal media, this is a reasonably likely course if Biden wins the election (assuming there is actually a transfer of power in January 2021).

Of course there will be a transfer of power; Trump has better things to do than fool around with the numbchucks in DC. As he said recently...”Sure, I’d like to win, but if I don’t, I’ll just go do something else.”

Whether people approve of it or not, the guy had a life before being in politics, politics wasn’t his career choice - most in DC are there too cover over their ass, suck off the system, make money and accumulate power.

The guy changed the direction of my life - back in the early 80’s, having graduated, I found myself with a bad booze problem - lived on the streets for 15 months. Sobered up with the help of AA and by luck got a job @ the Trump Organization (in the “mailroom”). A couple of years go by and one day I’m in elevator alone and the door opens and D Trump walks in; I gave him a 30 second pitch on an idea I had. He stopped the elevator, looked right @ me and said “1. Make a commitment 2. Put your balls on the line. 3. Figure it out.” He opened the door and walked out.

I quit the day and started my own company - the rest is history.

He’s alright in my book. He won’t win. The “pandemic” will magically disappear and all will “well”.

America...it was fun while it lasted!

Yeah, they had a few clusters, but the level 3 alert seems to have reversed the rise of infection. Again, no hospitalizations, just more cases. Quarantining healthy people is an interesting concept
