Bloomie now paying outstanding court fines for rapists, murderers, wife beaters, and arsonists in Florida (presumably to get these fine folk to vote for Biden....that says something, huh! ).
Notwithstanding that this shows what TDS does to any man including a guy who has been successful, what's really interesting is this:
Are billionaires now good guys again?
I have a hard time keeping up with lefty whining, so please inform me of the newest rules!

Pete, you should be happy. I hear all of the criminals in Florida are Republicans.
Re: 2020 Elections - Dems vs Trumpublicons
I ask again: what is YOUR SIDE offering, Kram? Because the free market Republican approach that started with Reagan has obliterated our middle class, and they fall further behind every year.kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 8:18 am Yup. Let's turn into Europe. Home of regular work shutdowns, crippling economic collapses and FIATs.
So what's your solution? Your team doesn't have one. Which, when it comes to actually governing, and actually helping the American workers is the equivalent of Pete yelling "squirrel!!" when he's lost the ideological argument.
You don't have a solution. And when your team doesn't have ideas, and the other team actually has ideas that have worked in other countries? Take a wild guess as to what voters will choose in the long term?
Yeah, no we DON'T have functional health care, Kram. You and I do. We're all set. Which is the entire point. The top 20 or 25% earners in America? Things are great. The rest keep falling further and further behind. That's the entire converstation.kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 8:18 am We have Healthcare, vocation school and community colleges. It just requires you take advantage of them and sign up.
As for college, my dad paid for Syracuse tuition by working construction over the summer. Can you (snicker) do that now? Our vocational and educational opportunities are just fine for you and I. My daughter is all set.
But the average----as in dead center median of American earning power? They're F'ed, and we both know it. Unions are gone, and the idea of working construction to get yourself a degree from Syracuse left the building decades ago.
Oh for heaven's sake. We had no such thing. He passed one bill, Obamacare. And because, laughably and sadly, your team doesn't have the slightest idea as to how to get Americans affordable free market care (it's impossible, btw)......Obamacare is still law. And what makes it worse is that it's a POS law that makes medical care and insurance MORE expensive, not less.
Your Republican team showed its cards this year, Kram. You know how they don't have a platform? FFS man, what does that tell you?
Or heck, listen to Pete's idea as to what your team offers: to quiet protests in Portland.
Wow, what a plan. Breathtaking in its scope. Pete thinks I asked him "what is the plan to get R's elected". Because Pete doesn't remember what it looks like when the Republican party actually governed.
It's sad, and it sucks. Because as I keep telling you-----if the Republicans ACTUALLY did what they claim to do? I'd be a bigger Republican than you are.

They might be for all I know. Just recall, these are violent felons, not turnstyle jumpers.
But Bloomie is betting a sh!t-ton that they're Democrats!
That should tell you all you need to know about the Democratic Party....fine group a-fellows you got there, njbill. Fortunately we have a governor who just signed into law a clear understanding that the police down here will have the governor's support when the looters and hooligans of the Democratic Party light up for any odd reason, as they are wont to do these days.
(btw, if you really want to know the truth, unless Bloomie wants to pay the parolees cold cash like the Pastors do for the crackheads in cities like Baltimore and literally drive them and carry their body into the voting booth and actually pull the lever, no more than 1% in Florida will bother to vote anyway, know whom to vote for, or won't pass out if asked to stand more than 5 minutes)
Re: 2020 Elections - Dems vs Trumpublicons
No worries, Pete. Part of the Bloomberg operation is that after he pays the fine, he fills out the mail in ballot for them and drops it off. It’s the no touch system.

this actually isn't true. at the median, college is pretty cheap nowadays. if we're making college free, that's going to disproportionately benefit high earners... who have kids coming thru.a fan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 12:31 pmAs for college, my dad paid for Syracuse tuition by working construction over the summer. so if this is the group we want to grab bennies, free college is a real score.

There will be no postmarks. Mark it down now.
And we are skipping over where all the fake ballots will come from. Which will be Madison and Milwaukee. Every single one.
Gee, it’s like democrats cheat!
Re: 2020 Elections - Dems vs Trumpublicons
Disagree completely. What summer job pays $20k for three months of work, wgdsr?
Our researchers found that the average cost of college for the 2017–2018 school year was $20,770 for public schools (in-state) and $46,950 for nonprofit private schools, only including tuition, fees, and room and board
Wages as it relates to tuition is out of whack.
You make State Colleges free, wgdsr. Not private.
As for the benefit to high earners, you're forgetting the other side of the ledger....taxes. Recoup it there.
Re: 2020 Elections - Dems vs Trumpublicons
60 k household income, some bucks in assets, family contribution is 4k + at the cuse. 3k plus out of state at your fav, univ of fla.a fan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 1:21 pmDisagree completely. What summer job pays $20k for three months of work, wgdsr?

go to collegeraptor to make the easy calculation.
ave student debt @ cuse is 29k. this part's a guess, but if you did the net calculator for syracuse specifically on their own site or thru college board (which college raptor doesn't break out) i would wager it'd be substantially lower @ those numbers.
make college free and the upper middle and higher win.

Re: 2020 Elections - Dems vs Trumpublicons
Just heard an interesting fact - 22% of Trump's 2016 support came from Pro-Choice voters. I knew it was a potential target for the dems, just didn't realize it was this large. Also suspect these voters overlap strongly with working class dems that couldn't stomach Hillary - these folks also have a problem with "church ladies" running their lives. Real wedge possibility here for the dems.

If that's REALLY the gripe? Means test it. Problem solved.
Remember that I have to compete in the international market.....competing with distillers, brewers and maltsters who's training, education, and health care are paid for by their EU/UK government.
So it's not just college. It's vocational training as well. Offer free computer programming training. Free welding and construction training. Get them marketable jobs.
What we're doing now isn't working for the median working class and below, imho.
Re: 2020 Elections - Dems vs Trumpublicons
i don't disagree with your new points here. if we're going to be throwing money around like drunken sailors? it might as well be targeted properly.a fan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 1:47 pmIf that's REALLY the gripe? Means test it. Problem solved.

next problem would be getting them in the door in substantial numbers, but you have to start somewhere. public/private partnerships that would have tight oversight would be a hope, not sure if in my lifetime or my kids' i could expect that to be efficient, maybe just more efficient?
given that "free college" may not come with a real emphasis on the above... and one that would have an opposite real outcome.... i don't consider that a great start.
awesome platform talking point, tho.

l was raised by a father who worked OT at a blue collar job (and stay at home mother) and they paid cash for me and my sister to go to 13 years of private school (k-12) and we both paid for Jesuit universities ourselves with summer job salaries and Bank of America student loans. Oddly, I left with the same ammount of debt as my wife who went to public universities, took federal loans and was the socialist's dream you regularly mention.
The government has been propping up universities for too long and it's why we have the student loan dilemma and price gouging by universities.
Can't afford $50K a year for college? Do it yourself- Study and get a private scholarship. Do Juco. Do a more affordable online school. Become an intern or apprentice.
But that's not to say I'm against all socuilist education programs. Gotta keep ROTC and the GI Bill.
Perhaps if the government stopped providing so much in bloated loans, colleges would become more reasonably priced?
PS- Obama did bring us those damn high efficiency, low water washers in 2011. A complete copy of Europe. That ass hole!

Buffalo bagels. Your team pumps billions into State Universities, taking MY MONEY to fund their kid's education.kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 2:01 pm My side has- do it yourself. In the free market. On your own.

That's great. So make EVERYONE do this, and stop taking my money. The "socialist dream" you mention is that I'm sick of fake free marketers like Pete, who claim to hate socialism, and then take MY MONEY to help pay for HIS education. Great. So why didn't Trump and McConnell end all subsidies and student loan programs for colleges?kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 2:01 pm The government has been propping up universities for too long and it's why we have the student loan dilemma and price gouging by universities.
Because they're hypocrites, that's why. They know full well if that happens, their base, who depend on taxpayers to help them, will sink further into oblivion.
That's what I and my two siblings did. Took me 7 years to finish Jesuit school, working full time the entire time. Then I went on to three vocational schools, paying every cent myself, and not one of those schools received a cent of US taxpayer money.kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 2:01 pm Can't afford $50K a year for college? This is why I can't stand your team: they talk a big game about free markets.....right before they empty my pockets to pay their voting base.

a fan always says others take 'his money', which is a hoot because he conveniently neglects to add that alcohol companies cost society significant multiples of despair, health problems, and suicide than any other industry, and they pay probably less than 0.0001% of the price. Antifa would LOVE it if you did that, Pete. They'd make that jet fuel of yours cost ten times what it does now.
I'm sure you wouldn't complain, right, Comrade?
Fast foods? They'd make a Big Mac $20. A can of soda? $10.
Great plan, comrade Pete! When can we start?
