I'd have a tendency to believe this, except time and again this clown shows his insensitivity. Case in point: a few days ago when he was telling people who'd asked for his autograph - people who were genuine fans - to go (sic) "sell it on e-bay, it's worth 1000s." This guy shows no respect to anyone, even his followers.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 4:06 pmNot denying trumps stupidity and all of his verbal diarrhea, but even he can't be this stupid. Boy, not exactly good timing for President Bone Spurs.
He's getting roasted today, quite deservedly, person after person coming on to discuss it, veterans, disabled veterans, gold star families, hosts with military spouses...
And he just can't help his lying sociopathic self, he self inflicts with claiming he never called McCain a loser...sorry, there's tape.

I live just outside of Wilmington, NC about a mile from the airport's main runway. Here's a text conversation I had yesterday with my best friend in the neighborhood, a devout Trumpist. I really thought I had him, even on this most trivial of points:
Him - "Did you see Air Force 1 fly over the neighborhood when it left?"
Me - "No, I was down at the beach. Perfect day ...." (Rest of post deleted. Unimportant to conversation.)
Him - "It was so cool. It was flying almost as low as the harriers do." (Being so close to Camp Lejeuene we often have USMC harriers using the airport, and they must not have the same restrictions as private and commercial jets. Sometimes they're so low your teeth chatter.)
Me - "I've seen Air Force 1 before. It's a gorgeous plane."
HIm - "Yeah. Absolutely beautiful plane."
So here's where I thought I was going to bait him and land the big fish:
Me: "It's so impressive. I love how iconic the plane is. A real symbol of America. I think all AF1s have been that pale blue since Kennedy was president. Did you know Trump was going to change the plane colors?"
Him: "No way. I knew he ordered new planes, but why change the colors?" (Yes, he actually said "no way" and "why change the colors", as if he might be disturbed if that was true.)
Me: "Yes, new 747s and he's changing the look. Here's a link. I forgot about this, but in typical Trump fashion he says the color choice was his decision. This narcissist even thinks he can make AF1 look better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzfS1n8ED10 "
All those texts happened within a span of a few minutes. About an hour went by. I thought no response meant he might finally be agreeing with me that the plane color shouldn't be changed. But not so fast....
Him: "That's really nice. It makes sense that the plane should be red white and blue."
Are you effing kidding me? SMH.
The only brains trump had penetrated are lefties like you.
First of all, your text convo is ridiculously bland. There’s no there there.
Second, hows about instead of baiting your best friend, you simply comment on the weather?
Lefties can’t even maintain normal relationships anymore. Trump has wrecked them.
What a douchebag.

Yeah, totally implausible:
“Probably the only thing Barack Obama & I have in common is that we both had the honor of firing Jim Mattis, the world’s most overrated General. I asked for his letter of resignation, & felt great about it. His nickname was ‘Chaos’, which I didn’t like, & changed to ‘Mad Dog,’”
"When I terminated John Kelly, which I couldn't do fast enough, he knew full well that he was way over his head. Being Chief of Staff just wasn't for him. He came in with a bang, went out with a whimper, but like so many X's, he misses the action & just can't keep his mouth shut," Mr Trump tweeted on Thursday, making clear he demands and expects silence from aides whom he sometimes presses to sign non-disclosure agreements.

MD, thanks for the wishes - hopefully I get to 86 - hope you and the family are well. TLD same with you and the family.
Seems like about 3 threads are going back and forth so decided to leave a note here. When did the military, those that serve, and vets become the moral compass for this country? As a vet, IMHO it is tiring the politicization that is occurring. I am worn out with the hats and shirts and now this again. Seems like any vet that has a rub or something to say gets a microphone and somehow what they say becomes the gospel. I have never known a Marine not to tell someone what they think, loud and proud. Nothing would surprise me but this one seems a tad off the wall.
As far as Stars and Stripes, my time at the Academy, 6 years active and recall for Gulf 1 never saw one nor a Military Times. Then again never was on a "real" base. With all the social media out there not sure 90% of the news organizations will survive anyway. Saying that I can see a population of the retired vets getting the hard-copy as I still read the WSJ in paper form . Hopefully the Senate will push it along and agree with the Congress to get it funded.
This too will pass.

I don’t think Kelly was a particularly good chief of staff.
But the question today is whether he is the source or a source for the Atlantic article and, if so, whether he is telling the truth.
Seems to be lots of reporting, including Fox, that the answers are yes and yes.

I see in other threads that our local "losers" and "suckers" (that is, vets) are still backing OD.
No surprise, any more than these "revelations" about Trump are a surprise. I remember telling my wife when Trump skipped the Paris ceremony that he probably didn't want to get his hair wet. The guy is pathetically easy to read, once you realize the essence of his sociopathy (which was obvious long before he ran for POTUS).

I hear you but anonymous allegations come from cowards too scared to face the light of day of their accusations. When these people come forward and speak publicly I will be much more impressed. If you are going to make an allegation of this nature you damn well should be willing to let America know who you are. I just read this morning that one of the sources on this was former CoS John Kelly. IMO if trump had said this in front of him he should have punched him in his face an resigned on the spot and told the world what he just heard. When i hear this from Kelly's own mouth my vote for Joe Biden is guaranteed. If I had the chance if this is true, i will punch trump in his face if ever given the chance.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 5:14 pmI think you may forget that he's truly a sociopath, and he's made a series of choices in his life, including his own avoidance of service, that his ego drive feels the need to self-justify. There are four such senior former Trump officials. We can all recall Salty assuring us that we should rest easy that they were there as they'd restrain Trump's worst impulses. Yes, I'm making an assumption that there's an overlap, as they all left, they were the most likely in the rooms when these comments were made, and they have the military backgrounds.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:11 amI hear you but anonymous allegations come from cowards too scared to face the light of day of their accusations. Of course, we don't know yet whether it's 100% overlap.
Now as to 'cowards', I sure as heck am not going to assume that as my default on this. My better guess is that they've felt a duty to not publicly oppose a sitting President. After he leaves office, another matter. So far, they're not denying that they are the sources. Will they eventually come out? I dunno. Sure as heck are a lot of former senior military folks prior to this who have been standing up to be heard on Trump. The more the better in my view.
Re Kelly in specific, I was highly critical of his service as CoS to this POS in the White House, arguing with Salty. I understood a desire to serve our country and the opportunity to have serious influence, but I felt he compromised his integrity again and again in salute to the POTUS, and perhaps out of some of his own ideological affinity on some issues...but eventually he left. IMO, he ultimately reached a breaking point for how much he was willing to tolerate and likely felt resignation would be of more service to the country than continued enablement of Trump.

Meaning what? It’s OK for the President to run his mouth indiscriminately? To disparage half of the country? To diminish the reality and importance of black Americans’ experience? To give Russia a pass on everything? To constantly rave about unsubstantiated election fraud and “rigging”? To attack any media that reports critically of him, his conduct and comportment, his health?
It is remarkable to me how narrow the right’s vision and understanding of the presidency has become in three short years. Tan suit? And it may cost us our democracy as we know it.

We can thank the Clintons and Obama for giving us Trump. One treated the WH like a whore house and backroom mob office, the other as if it was up for sale and needed torn down. Maybe if Joe wins we can turn it into a senior center, paint it roygbiv, and hand out drug paraphernalia.seacoaster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 8:59 amMeaning what?
