UNC 2021

Post by TAV »

Let’s get it started!

We have one transfer coming thus far; any word on 2020 Seniors returning?

I think we’ll have solid, competitive squad - looks like a tough ACC in 2021.

I like the underdog role. Go HEELS!

Very good pickup for the Heels and was probably paved the way by the late decommitment of Gable Braun in the 2020 class.

2021 class is shaping up to be one of the best ones Carolina has had in a while.

High praise from Quint Kessenich for 2021 commits Ryan Levy (Taft) and Kade Goldberg (Deerfield), who both played in the recent NHSLS Tournament.
Ryan Levy, a 2021 North Carolina verbal, was spectacular in half-field sets with his ability to feed the ball while being covered. The pass-first midfielder was productive on the extra-man, with a style similar to Nicky Galasso. That ability to see through the defense and thrown skips is a commodity.
Kade Goldberg (North Carolina) can do it all. He was everywhere, competing with an energy level that few can duplicate. He was opportunistic, ultra smart… I mean, he runs on the man-up, where his passing acumen is on display, and also runs the shorty shift on man-down. In half-field sets, he gave opposing defenders headaches and sore ankles shaking and dodging from the high wing.

FYI...

We switched our Hosting Provider and during the transition, there was the inevitable hiccup when one house closes and the new house has yet to fully open while the new forum is propagating and some posts were (sort of) lost. (Not really lost, just in the old house and would need to be copy-and-pasted one at a time into the new house. i.e. A bit of a hassle and doesnt seem critical.) Just the nature of moving a forum. We apologize.

RT @tyxanders: 5 ⭐️ junior James Matan ‘22, A, Gonzaga (D.C.) / @DCExpressLax has committed to @UNCMensLacrosse. A tall, slick & creative playmaker, Matan has a very high ceiling for his career, especially once he develops more consistency: https://t.co/DlBH9bUNZc https://t.co/wmYpGr9hJB

My guesses, in order.

SU - It would be the ultimate thumb in the eye to JHU. Even though I'm sure there's no hard feelings between JHU and Pietramala after they let him go...
UNC - This is where so many great MIAA players go (to underperform at the college level). None the less, this is where MIAA kids go...
PSU - PSU offers a lot. But they're a new kid on the block and... Is their success going to reoccur? Is PSU more like MD or Albany?
Denver - Great way to move far from home, to, so to speak, experience new lands. The question is, is this land too far away? I'd say, it's not far at all with games on TV and Zoom calls but... Denver is in the west. Also, I could be wrong but I think Dom is a basketball, football fan. He won't get this at Denver.

It pains me to say it but MD is a very different level than Albany. Yes they only have one actual Natty but they are in the final four or finals almost every year and still recruiting quite well.

I'd go PSU, UNC, Cuse, Denver in order. Heard Penn State and UNC were in the driver's seat too. Big Petro and Tambroni are really close friends, so putting my money on them. Not sure if Cuse can strike gold twice with the top 2 recruits, and think Denver is vastly different than those three in terms of profile, but have Tierney (who knows Petro very well). All four schools have connections and ties with Big Petro in some way.

Neither really.
They just don’t have enough NCAAs under their
belt.
But there isn’t anything Tambroni has done to
suggest they won’t be making more NCAAs,

yes, Ament decided to graduate,
yes, they lost out on Brennan O'Neill.
