I've said over and over that I'm perfectly happy with a health care system with armed guards at hospital doors with shoot-to-kill orders for the lazy-ass deadbeats with no money to pay for their own health care.

And no free food either. Let them starve. Fight them off with our own guns when they come out of their self-created hellhole slums.

LeBron James' school in Akron is doing very well. It's run by the Akron Public School District. But guess what? Its budget is 30% higher than all the other schools in the district, because it also has private money.

So: are you willing to pay taxes to cover that 30% increase?

Not willing to pay those higher taxes? So what do we do? Find a million more LeBrons to donate? Cut food stamps and welfare? (Think kids being hungry will help them learn?)

... But this was not merely one of Trump’s transitory diversions, in a week already full of them. (Remember the demon-sperm-doctor controversy? The transparently racist appeal to those living the “Suburban Lifestyle Dream” free of low-income interlopers?) In fact, Trump’s attack on the legitimacy of the upcoming election has been intensifying for months, as his poll standing has sunk.

... So, sorry, we cannot just ignore it when the President threatens to cancel an election. This is the kind of statement that should haunt your dreams. It is wannabe-dictator talk. It is dangerous even if it is not attached to any actions. And those who think that some actions will not follow have not been paying attention. My alarm stems from having covered Russia when Vladimir Putin was dismantling the fragile, flawed democratic institutions that the country had established after the fall of the Soviet Union. It stems from reading history. It stems from having watched the past four years in America, where, day by day, the unthinkable has happened and been justified, rationalized, and explained away.

Education is a piece of the puzzle. But if you think a young man or woman can get a quality education and then they'll simply rise above poverty, you're sadly mistaken. The solution lies in every season of The Wire. Education was Season 4. You also need the Judicial System (Season 1), Economics (Season 2), Politics (Season 3), and the Media (Season 5).

What we should say is just follow the JHU path...you are successful right? The goal...stop making poor kids believe college is the answer, because they intuitively know they do not have the finances to pay for college, envy those who do, and their parents are often so busy and not as educated to realize they have choices.....the result, they check out and go the easy route.
