Yes I believe Seacoaster.
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul

Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

An interesting racial story. Off the beaten path

I'd of thought Ms Parkers ashes would've been permanently interred at the Algonquin!

Bethesda and Silver Spring are the most upscale parts of DC northwest, yes dense, densely affluent, College Park = Univ of MD., New Carrollton's median household income is $65k, just under the State's avg of $69k (highest in the country). Silver Spring is $72k and Bethesda is a whopping $154k. We're not talking about DC's poor areas. Some of which have median household incomes less than $30k.youthathletics wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 2:32 pmYou clearly do not get out much? The last three cities you cite, are heavily and densely populated with lower income families, with very high proportions of apartment housing, especially in the surrounding zip codes.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 6:10 pm nope, the Purple Line serves higher income areas, Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, New Carrollton.

we're not remotely talking about a service designed to provide access to lower income areas.

I have it on good authority the area immediately SE of the Anacostia River was affluent until the democrats came in...

Bethesda & Silver Spring are just the upscale end of the Purple Line. The rest of the Purple Line opens up neighborhoods that are not so "upscale"MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 4:19 pmBethesda and Silver Spring are the most upscale parts of DC northwest, yes dense, densely affluent, College Park = Univ of MD., New Carrollton's median household income is $65k, just under the State's avg of $69k (highest in the country). It provides transport for workers from those areas to the jobs in the upscale areas, as well as access to the entire metro system.
When we arrived in SoMd in the late 70's, we used to drive "up the road" for dinner & a movie at Landover Mall.
...that area has really changed since then.

College Park's median income is $64k, just above the national median...if you guys want to say that it reduced traffic on the beltway for folks, black and white, I'd agree...for those middle income and lower middle income folks who use the rail. But this definitely does not reach into DC's poorest neighborhoods nor those in the suburbs of DC.old salt wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 4:32 pmBethesda & Silver Spring are just the upscale end of the Purple Line. Again, I'm not saying anything negative about the Purple Line, just that it isn't remotely comparable to what the Red Line was designed to do in terms of structural racism and poverty.

Easy there, DumDum. I just posted the article. The guy is an old friend, who sent me the article when I expressed some interest and concern. I understand it is contrary to your largely racist, homophobic and blindly right wing narrative. You on the other hand dum dum are a racist homophobe right wing monster cause you don't buy this bucolic Portland story hook line and seeker
ANTIFA-linked rioters in the city of Portland continued to wage destructive and criminal riots on Saturday night, possibly escalating their activities to their most severe level after the federal government refused to back down in response to the city’s demands that they ignore criminal activity.
Footage reveals that the area surrounding the Portland Police Association union building was filled with fire and destruction by criminal rioters.
Anarchist criminals had chanted of their opposition to all American and Oregon laws during the riots, repeating the phrase “every city, every town, burn the precincts to the ground” as they marched on the police association building.

My cousin lives in Portland. One son is an engineer at Microsoft and the other just finished his BS in engineering at Stanford and going through offers. Their life bares no resemblance to what folks here are depicting. Their danger is getting the wrong latte.jhu72 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 5:00 pm… this is all obvious to anyone with even half a brain. In 2008, CNNMoney.com named Owings Mills number 49 of the "100 Best Places to Live and Launch". So apparently it’s a popular place for rocketeers.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 4:39 pmCollege Park's median income is $64k, just above the national median...if you guys want to say that it reduced traffic on the beltway for folks, black and white, I'd agree...for those middle income and lower middle income folks who use the rail. I tend to think of Silver Spring as more middle class, and it goes down hill a bit as you go towards the umd. Langley Park seeming to be lower class.old salt wrote: Bethesda & Silver Spring are just the upscale end of the Purple Line. Bethesda is fairly affluent. it also has a lot of employment opportunities. It has several large office buildings in the downtown area. Marriott has decided to move its headquarters to the downtown area. Of course about a mile up 355 from downtown Bethesda, one has the large federal installations of NIH and the Naval Medical Center.

Bethesda definitely has dough. Worked at 7401 Wisconsin for a bit while in grad school, across from the red line station, and just the next block up you had Tiffany’s maybe a Cartier. Head just a few blocks over to Old Georgetown Rd and some nice restaurants (recall Blacks, seafood joint). Have been back a few times to deal with a bank HQ there the past five years and it’s only gotten more expensive.
