Good looking group. Offense heavy which is obviously a need. Welcome to the Woods! Can’t wait to see lacrosse return someday soon hopefully.

mmm, good looking goalie (definitely an athlete, needs some technique work) and two defender, 6-4 218lbs and 6-6 242lbs...plus a midfielder 6-5 190, and a walk-on midfielder 6-4 215 who may be SSDMs or given a pole...

But yeah, need more offensive punch. I liked some of the highlights, looks some serious skill sets and IQ on some of them.

On Cooleen, old school enforcer, quite the load!...Brendan may have a challenge keeping him out of the penalty box. But I liked his athleticism with the ball, looked very comfortable going coast to coast.

Interesting geographic mix, but no Baltimore / DC area; let's get on it, MDlaxfan76! All joshing aside, Dartmouth was looking good in 2020 before the season halted abruptly, and I'm looking forward to the Green picking up an Ivy win, and more.

Yup, would like to see some of this region in the pipeline...I'm sure Brendan and Joe would as well.

Good looking list of recruits -- I think D's recruiting game improved (and why wouldn't it) when Conner arrived. Maybe they feel that they would not get top-rank guys from the Baltimore/DC MIAA/IAC/WCAC cluster? I'm sure Callahan keeps open lines of communication with Gonzaga but lots of other schools have interest (2020/2021 commitment destinations from 'Zaga include Navy, Harvard, Princeton, Penn State, Villanova, Richmond, and Michigan).

Yes, Joe is a very good recruiter and he explicitly has this role. He's not from the MIAA but he is from Maryland.

My alma mater, Gilman, has had 5 kids go to a combo of Yale and Harvard the last two years. I think only 1 to Dartmouth in last 10 years, which is not really off pace, one or two a decade. McDonogh similarly sends a good # to Ivies, Loyola some, St. Mary's a few, Severn, BL and St. Pauls once in a while, but less often. Calvert Hall very rarely. St. Joe and AS, etc only have a handful top D1 prospects, but every once in a while one will go to an Ivy. Been awhile.

I'd written some years ago that the Ivies appeared to be attracting way fewer total MIAA kids than in prior periods, with more attention given to ACC and Big 10, but the surge from McD, Gilman especially in the last two years is closer to past norms. At Gilman, I think there was actually a bias away from Ivy, even a lack of recognition of what was possible. My son's Gilman class ('12) had two go Ivy for the first time in at least 5 successive years (Harvard and Dartmouth, both with dads who had played Ivy), the top 3 recruited players went UNC, Denver, and Ohio State; they had 6 D1 in total, with a Haverford, whereas my class had 6 go Ivy, 4 AA's, all played (4PU, 1 D, 1HU), 5 of those in the top 6 recruits, others went to Hopkins (2), W&L (2) when it was D1, Bucknell, and D3 Denison(2). Similar was true of the great teams in the late '90's and early 2000's. But not the late 2000's. Princeton used to have the biggest pipeline into the MIAA, now it appears that Yale is the destination of choice for the top MIAA players who can possibly do the work.

I have theories about why, but there appears to have been a recent shift back or at least an opening. Hopefully Dartmouth can be in that mix, but I just want Brendan and Joe to find the best fit for the program. Lots of good players out there. Find the best young men.

The Big Green definitely seem to be headed in the right direction, and then some (new facility coming, excellent short season in 2020, good recruiting classes). Let's hope the "new normal" allows all Ivy League fans to appreciate a Dartmouth MLAX resurgence in the near future.

Thanks, fingers crossed both for that resurgence, but heck just the opportunity to play some ball next year!

Dartmouth to eliminate five varsity sports (men's and women's swimming and diving; men’s and women’s golf; and men's lightweight rowing) and reduce the number of recruited athletes by 10% in each class. Steps taken in part to address $150MM pandemic-related budget deficit. https://news.dartmouth.edu/news/2020/07 ... cs-program

I'm concerned about the changing priorities of the College, the discussion about Admissions, but understand that we're living in interesting times.

What I find unusual about these decisions and those at Brown is that the alumni base for these sports didn't carry the day to keep them viable in some way. Also, while I realize that Hanover has some locally specific inflation, it seems unusual that it costs a million dollars a year to keep a rural golf course operating. I believe that Cornell keeps theirs viable at a much lower cost.

Could be supply of specialized maintenance support vendors?
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Crying shame. These are sports that folks attend DU to play. Stanford as well with V Ball and Rasslin. Dominos.

It could be a revenue issue. A premium membership with unlimited cart use is $300/month.

Cheap. Golf courses lose money almost universally. They make their money selling the real estate adjacent and hope to break even on the operations but reality is that golf courses are being converted to other uses throughout the country. It peaked like a decade or more ago so it’s also a symbol of something that perhaps Dartmouth just doesnt want to be reflecting these days too

Well... I've received some input from a Big Green supporter... The golf team stopped using the course a few years ago, and some of the land was earmarked for an expansion of the Tuck School facilities.

Sorry, Big Green fans to step on your thread. I'm sure that this is a sensitive issue, and that there are some recruited athletes who are facing a stressful reality right now.
