Because there is a lot more nuance to the Russia thing than can reasonably be covered ENTIRELY in the Mueller thread...
The Real Reason Russia Is Rooting for Republicans in the Midterms
"Dmitry Abzalov, director of the Center for Strategic Communications in the Russian capital, suggested a strategy to aid Trump by touting his economic successes and creating joint business opportunities. As long as the American economy is strong, he opined, Trump won’t need to impose the sanctions against Russia to affect the outcome of the midterms. Abzalov recommended that the Russians temporarily abstain from any actions that might prompt the U.S. to impose additional sanctions. He cautioned: “We can seriously benefit from these deals, there’s potential profit at stake. We shouldn’t let Trump down right now, our main goal right now is to help him with correct arguments. He will follow through with an internal agenda and economy.”
60 Minutes host Olga Skabeeva chimed in, "Help him, direct him, support him,” then added ironically, “and then you'll say he isn't ours."
Pro-Kremlin experts and propagandists have no doubt that the Republicans will fall in line with Trump’s agenda, unless they’re “suicidal” in terms of their political prospects. Konstantin Zatulin, first deputy chairman of the committee for relations with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Russian nationals abroad or the Duma, or lower house, is a leading figure in Putin’s United Russia party."

But Trump already DID impose sanctions against Russia, so I'm confused as to your point?

Why has Trump stayed unusually quiet on US sanctions against Russia?

What is your point? Your linked opinion piece clearly states that the US imposed sanctions on Russia. Your evidence is that he didn't tweet about it?dislaxxic wrote:and the guy in Colorado that evidently murdered his family started out by pleading for their safe return. That man tweets about almost everything and is very vocal in his opinions. On Russia he is always suspiciously quiet, or complimentary, and has dragged his feet on a lot of sanctions. There is no Russia Collusion. If anything it was Hillary and the Dems who colluded. 2 years and no indictments. What a joke. Can't you just accept that Trump won fair and square. Or are you against the electoral college too?

Talk softly and carry a big stick. Trumps big stick are the SANCTIONS. Of course he doesn't talk softly. How about ACTIONS speak louder than WORDS? Did Trump ever tweet about outrageiuos budget deficits/spending? Well, there we have it. Why is anyone reading twitter anyway?holmes435 wrote:That man tweets about almost everything and is very vocal in his opinions. Cause Devin Nunes said so?? That's ludicrous.Bandito wrote:There is no Russia Collusion. If anything it was Hillary and the Dems who colluded. 2 years and no indictments. What a joke. Can't you just accept that Trump won fair and square. Or are you against the electoral college too?
Wait til the Dems take the House...then the "real" investigations begin. We learned from the best...Trey Gowdy, Darrell Issa, Jason Chaffetz...you know, the types that were doing little ELSE but investigating (remember the "Party of NO") during the BHO years.
Collusion = Conspiracy. Don't have to move goalposts even a LITTLE to make that statement.

Re: All Things Russia
Good luck with that. Your blue wave is more like a blue toilet bowl. Your party sacrificed black votes for illegal immigrants who murder innocent Americans. Never forget Kate Steinle and Mollie Tibbetts. You also need 2/3 vote to impeach and no president has ever been removed from office via impeachment. That definitely won't happen. You can't just impeach someone because you don't like him. Accept it already. You lost fair and square in the 2016 election despite rigging it.dislaxxic wrote:Cause Devin Nunes said so?? Like most progressives on this board, i think Trump being in office is WAY better for moving the GOP to their rightful place on the dustbin of history MUCH FASTER than an impeachment ordeal would. He's already an un-indicted co-conspirator and so may likely be formally indicted when he's tossed out on his arse in 2020. Tax returns alone may well lead on to the types of past criminal behavior this guy has engaged in, things that MDL76 keeps highlighting. They way the R congress has toadied to this Disgrace, well, they've been painting themselves into an ideological corner for years now...let's just say that a Dem House...if not Senate also, will be a great start to putting this shameful episode in US governance out of its misery at the polls in 2020.

Re: All Things Russia
So emotional. Unfortunately emotions don't deal with reality. The reality is your party ruins everything it touches. People are waking up and moving away from it. I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment in 2018 and 2020. Your party is propping up socialists and promoting illegal immigration. You can't win on that platform and you won't.dislaxxic wrote:Like most progressives on this board, i think Trump being in office is WAY better for moving the GOP to their rightful place on the dustbin of history MUCH FASTER than an impeachment ordeal would. BILL CLINTON DID NOT WIN AN ELECTION BY GETTING A BJ: THE DANGER OF LINDSEY GRAHAM’S WILLFUL IGNORANCE ABOUT RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE
"Lindsey ends [his Kavanaugh statement], again, by taunting Democrats that they can’t have any input on Supreme Court justices if they lose an election.
An election the investigation of which Lindsey claims to, but is not, protecting. An election the investigation of which may be stymied by the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh.
Of course, this is only possible because of the way four different efforts in Congress — including Lindsey’s own — have served to obscure the matters under investigation. You’ve got Lindsey’s investigation and Bob Goodlatte’s — both more worried about a single FISA order that even a conservative Republican has told me was based on overwhelming evidence — than whether the guy making lifetime appointments cheated to get that authority. You’ve got Devin Nunes’ investigation, better described as an information gathering effort to help Trump get away with any cheating he engaged in than an investigation of whether he did cheat. Finally, there is Richard Burr’s investigation which, while on its face is more credible, nevertheless is not pursuing leads that support a case that Trump conspired with Russia to win the election.
Lindsey Graham is concerned about lies Christopher Steele may have told under oath in the UK, but not lies Don Jr clearly told his own committee. His big rush to stack SCOTUS suggests the reason for that has everything to do with a need to sustain a fiction that those SCOTUS choices are the result of a legitimate election win rather than willfully conspiring with a foreign adversary to get those choices."
Lindsey Graham was, and will always remain, the CONSUMMATE WEASEL for his performance during the Clinton impeachment sham...

Trump Is Russia’s Weapon—Not Its End State
"It’s not incorrect that Russia gave Trump a boost. But it’s now clear that his presidency isn’t the Kremlin’s endgame at all. He is a useful disruption in a broader campaign—and that’s the one we need to worry about."
[snip]
"It’s chaotic—but chaos is the strategy. Putin’s goal isn’t a puppet president so much as a U.S. society permanently at war with itself. Russia can’t compete in the rules-based international order, but if the American bulwark of that order fractures, a weakened Russia has more space to act as a global power. Its new form of warfighting is evident in the details of special counsel Robert Mueller’s indictments and across the Russian investigation writ large: information warfare conducted by the Internet Research Agency and Russian intelligence; widespread hacking of campaigns and election systems by Russian military hackers; the new informal “illegals,” represented by Mariia Butina and Konstantin Kilimnik, each of whom has been the focus of an indictment."
But Huckleberry Graham and his fellow GOP enablers don't think there's anything to be concerned about...

In an interview on Russian TV (RT) the two Salisbury poisoning suspects claim they flew to London then got a train to Salisbury just to see an ancient cathedral and that it was just an accident they passed by the victims home. Right. I suppose after visiting the cathedral they stopped and got a ice cream cone then shopped for shoes. Their alibi was more cartoonish than Boris and Natasha.
