That's what 2022 and 2024, and beyond, can be about, assuming the GOP breaks its Trumpist fever/death grip.
But this white supremacist, nativist, whining, corrupt, incompetence needs to get washed out of the GOP first. That's going to be difficult as so many chose to 'bend the knee' to Trump and Trumpism, but it's a necessity.
Do so, and Dems will be forced to compete for the middle of the electorate.
Eliminate the "white supremacist, nativist, whining, corruption, incompetence" of Trump and Trumpism and you can try to make a case, competing for the middle of the electorate, but that requires dumping Trump and Trumpism wholly, first.
Embracing "the white supremacist, nativist, whining, corruption, incompetence of Trump and Trumpism" loses the center and enables Dems to not have the reject the nut jobs of the far, far left.
Going forward, want to compete and force the Dems to compete?
Dump Trump.

And they don't see Biden or the Dems as a whole as representing the extremes you describe, nor even embracing such extremes. Whereas they do see "the white supremacist, nativist, whining, corruption, incompetence of Trump and Trumpism".
Get rid of Trump and Trumpism and the Dems will be forced to similarly reject the far, far left, assuming they wish to actually win. Their current candidate is moderate-progressive, though with arguably the most progressive social platform in history because the country has so shifted in that direction on so many issues. But a far cry from what it would have been with several of the other candidates.
If you are truly concerned about future candidates and policies significantly further to the left then you actually have to compete for the middle of the electorate, not repel them with "white supremacist, nativist, whining, corrupt incompetence".
BTW, "middle of the electorate" does not equal "middle class". You can find plenty of moderates among very poor or super wealthy parts of our population, as well as lots of whack job extremes, both left and right, throughout the economic groups.

This is the CURRENT democrat party. Out of their own mouths.
Ex 1: Alicia Garza, one of three co-founders of the Black Lives Matter national organization, has repeatedly talked about how convicted cop killer and wanted domestic terrorist Joanne Chesimard, also known as Assata Shakur, is one of her main inspirations. Susan Rosenberg, a member of the board of directors for the left-wing Thousand Currents group, which handles the intake of donations made to Black Lives Matter, is a convicted terrorist who, among other things, was suspected of helping Shakur escape from prison. CEOS of Major US corporations are taking millions from their profits and donating millions to BLM
Ex 2: Defund the Police means DEFUND THE POLICE.—AOC
Already accomplished in Minneapolis and NYC soon to be ratified in many other democrat controlled cities
Ex 3: Talib and Omars most recent "anti semitic legislation"
Ex. 4: State legislatures passing then cheering for legislation that kills the newly born and calls it abortion.
Ex. 5: Seattle city council member Kshama Sawant (avowed socialist} framed Monday’s 7-2 council vote for the hefty payroll tax on larger businesses as a step toward the goal of overthrowing the “bankrupt system of capitalism” and replacing it with “a socialist world.” Warns Jeff Bezos 'We are coming for you'
Ex 6: Collin Kaep says he won't participate in the White Supremacist Celebration of Jul 4th. And the NFL owners are all knuckling under.
Bidens not bringing them back to the middle. No matter what republicans do. Bidens not in charge now and never was.

argue all you want, 6ft, about the Dems. You're talking to and for a rapidly shrinking part of the electorate.
I'm a registered Republican, have never voted for a D for POTUS before, many times voted a straight GOP ticket, sometimes mixed.
And I, like many millions of others, including some on here, will be crossing over to vote D in November.
The GOP won't get me back until they wash out Trump and Trumpism.
But do so, and then we'll again have a choice as to where we want to lean, conservative or progressive, issue by issue, candidate by candidate, with neither extreme ascendant.

That's just deep, far right OAN, Q-anon sorts of talk. Shrinking, though currently very, very loud part of the population.
However, if one is actually worried about a huge pendulum swing to the left occurring over the next decade or two, then clean out the Trumpist garbage, reorient the GOP to actually compete for the electorate of the future, and compete for the middle of the electorate.
Hyperbolic nonsense is not a long term winning strategy, it's the dying gasp of the dumb and angry.
Let the far left be the ones who alienate the center, instead. But gotta wash out the 'white supremacist, nativist, whining, corrupt, incompetence' first. It's overwhelming.

6ft is exactly correct. What you don't want to acknowledge (wonder why) is none of 6ft's points are in fact 'far right conspiracy' talking points...they are straight up down the middle.
Joe Biden is the last normal DNC leader. After him, 6ft is correct: the Marxists take over.

Again, there is a silent majority that is frozen stiff with fear to admit to anything, and uncertain about everything, and Covid has not improved their mental health one iota.
But this man's opinion is that there are millions of voters like me. I have yet to speak to someone who would have similarly described themselves as a reliable but non- hyper partisan GOP voter, fiscally conservative, socially moderate, who isn't so repelled by Trump and Trumpism that they won't vote for him. Some won't vote for Biden, but they all are adamant that they won't vote for Trump again.
I think THAT's the 2020 silent majority.
By contrast, the folks who are ok with the corruption and incompetence, the nativism and white supremacism, are very, very loud.
I hope I'm right.
Of course, some will indeed go into the booth and vote R because they just can't break with their past, following human nature, so I'd predict that the election will be closer than the polling would now predict. But nevertheless, overwhelming.
That is, unless the pandemic breaks hard one way or the other.
Unfortunately for the country, both medically and economically, it looks like it's going to break badly for Trump's election chances given how he positioned himself to it. Disastrously wrong.

Gotcha.
It's overwhelming.

no, the 'hyperbolic nonsense' is the twaddle being fed to you by the right wing media machine.tech37 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 11:36 amCovid has certainly helped your cause in getting rid of Trump but all of things you so smugly blow off as "hyperbolic nonsense," certainly hurts you cause.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 11:27 amJust telling you how its viewed by the middle of the electorate, tech. Of course, like any such 'twaddle', it has elements of truth.
Those truths will ultimately hurt the Dems, not my 'cause'.
I reject the extremes on both ends.
Trumpism relies upon, has doubled, tripled and quadrupled down on the extremes of the hard right.
And coupled that with corruption and incompetence.
Get rid of Trump and Trumpism and compete for the middle and the electorate of the future, not the electorate of the past...all I'm saying.
On COVID, Trump had a perfect opportunity to demonstrate competence and empathy, both from himself and from his Administration.
He flunked miserably. We're ALL paying the price.

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

You reject polls, so I'm just giving you my view from the middle, a moderate, normally highly reliable GOP voter.
You and several other posters clearly have no such perspective as you are in a right wing bubble.
Nothing is certain, as I said, just one man's opinion.
You don't want to hear it, fine by me.
