We have the long lockdown, social distancing and wearing masks because our only REAL answer to this day remains- Don’t want to get sick? Stay in your cocoons!
Bingo.
I agree you can spread around the blame. But in the end, the President is the legally-authorized person to most meet the demands of a crisis, "foreign and domestic." You want to dilute the pool of the blameworthy -- OK. But the holder of that office not only gets Harry Truman's maxim tossed at him, he has the legal powers to meet the moment. This President didn't, won't and, in terms of his priorities and character, probably can't.

The Governors by and large seem to have done the work, and some have done better than others. My Governor, a Republican, has done a very good job, under conditions that weren't as fraught with difficulty as many other states. But he and his cohorts in the GOP would tell you privately that the federal government's failures center largely on the Executive Branch's inability and unwillingness to meet the moment.
IMPOTUS should be LEADING, but he is not. Should he hire some of these folks?

https://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org ... index.html

I also live in a state with r governor, who is doing his best to slow down the spread. That is all that he can do, try to get residents to NOT spread the virus. It is that obvious and simple. Am I wrong?

And he has managed to do so, as we have had declining cases for several weeks now. It sure did stink to have to work from home when possible and face fears of infection when I went to my office and then job sites; even grocery shopping.

Now here in MD, one of the lessons of the past few weeks might be: be careful with taking premature victory laps. We don't know where the NEXT spikes are going to come. Until we've made it through (at least) a year of this thing, avoid hasty conclusions on which practice is best.

What do you call an Arizona governor who gets sideways with the AARP? A governor who outlaws the wearing of masks during the pandemic only to see his state's COVID-19 outbreak get totally out of control.

Ex-governor Dougie Douchebag. Maybe his brother can get him a job at Faux News.

Aside: I see the shallow end of the gene pool needs cleaning again, what with Peanut Butters and Fatty doing their worst to waste everyone's time.

This epidemic can still be managed, but we’re definitely on the cusp of a global pandemic. If it truly becomes a pandemic, then we’re talking about many thousands of additional deaths and a potential global recession.

DocBarrister  :o
Care to explain your math here?
Looked at the wrong numbers (death rate per 100,000 general population ... 2 per 100,000 for flu but not all 100,000 were infected).

Should have compared mortality rate among infected individuals. So ...

... ~2% for Coronavirus

and about 0.13% for ordinary flu.

So, Coronavirus mortality rate is about 15x that of “ordinary flu”.

Thanks for catching the error.

DocBarrister :)
You seem to make lots of errors?

just heard california had 100k tests done on wednesday alone.
that's surely not normal, but suggests testing capacity is ramping up. that'll prolly have fits and starts.
as it seems pcr tests are really the only real time option, reagent and other supplies i have to believe are going to be stressed big time.
those headlines are probably next. can't get tests done. (and feds don't want tests, are shutting down all testing sites and gov't support, yada) we're talking orders of magnitude. maybe we should be asking china how they're doing it?

We still know next to nothing about this virus.

New Nature study shows that 2/3 of those asymptomatic with Covid-19 had ground-glass opacity abnormalities (lung damage) in at least one lung, and 1/3 showed ground-glass opacities in both lungs. Young people are *not* immune!

So, you agree, only tRump matters. Remove him from office, and all is better. This is what you believe?

hogan's south korea test procurement was a media stunt. his original intentíons may have been good, but by the time he got what he got he overpaid for partial tests that were then widely avail cheaper. he also didn't know/think to get all the supplies (carrying/reagent/whatever else) that would allow the tests to actually get results. they sat in storage for weeks.

anyway, we are all just media puppets. strange world we're in.

Ex-governor Dougie Douchebag. Maybe his brother can get him a job at Faux News.

Aside: I see the shallow end of the gene pool needs cleaning again, what with Peanut Butters and Fatty doing their worst to waste everyone's time.

Why doesn't tRump follow the plans and recommendations of this "exercise"? WHY?

tRUMP is your hero, why not ask him?
When you get responses like this, you know you are making a valid point.

NO, brookie, I am asking the crowd here. Should we take anything away from Event 201?

Everyone is calling for a plan. As someone just wrote, correctly, bashing the tv realty show guy for NOT having a plan isn't a plan.......oh well,

the day YOU made it about the POTUSA, is the day I looked at v-19 as nothing more than a seasonal flu on steroids........
Why are you asking a guy on a lax forum for an answer? Ask the guy YOU CHOOSE to defend.
Why do you do this? It is bizzare behaviour. Mental messed up ness.

What does Event 201 have to do with ANY POTUSA?
What does Event 201 have to do with any random lacrosse fan on a message board. Ask your government official if you want an answering. YOU CHOOSE not to hold Trump accountable..
tRump has more than exceeded my expectations of him as POTUSA. I didn't want him in the first place. Always thought of him poorly.

Why are you such a child and saying I defend him? It is bizzarre mental behaviour. Take it from me, I know bizzarre....

What does Event 201, a pandemic exercise in how to handle a viral outbreak, have to do with a viral outbreak?
So, you agree, only tRump matters. Remove him from office, and all is better. This is what you believe?

pathetic
Your excuse making is what is pathetic. Who said only Trump matters....you know who doesn’t matter? A guy in a lax forum. You are asking the wrong people for answers. So in your mind, you may as well question DMac instead of your guy Trump? That’s pathetic.
“I wish you would!”
