Yes, most Americans are indeed good and decent folks.
True.
But there are also many racists who remain, some forthrightly and unabashedly so. They may love their wife, salute the flag, and don't kick their dog, but racist all the same.
And there's a whole lot more who are closeted racists, who know better than to fly that Confederate flag publicly, but nevertheless actually make negative assumptions about minorities. Many of these aren't fully aware of their own racist views. Many of these are in positions of significant power and influence. And, yes, some pretend to be 'liberal' in their views. Most don't.
Of course, there are those within those minority groups who mistakenly think all in the majority or even most are like either of the two segments described.
It's a painful reality that racism very much exists in America today.
And those who deny that reality are most definitely in one of those first two groups.

It's not clear whether or not the Rescue Group "repossessed" the dog, or if the owner surrendered it temporarily or permanently. It would depend on what the adoption contract says, but it's doubtful the dog could be "repossessed" this quickly, unless the owner agreed.a fan wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 6:39 pmThe first thing I thought was "man, how **tty of a dog owner do you have to be for the Rescue to demand that you give the dog back?"old salt wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 5:34 pmIrresponsible pet owner too. ...she probably blames the dog.Peter Brown wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 4:28 pm I did notice a very Twitter story of an NYC Obama and HRC donor ("Amy Cooper") being fired from Franklin Templeton this morning because she falsely accused a black guy of accosting her in Central Park yesterday; maybe it's your party you're worried about when it comes to racism? Re: All things Chinese CoronaVirus
Here we go.....bunch of new news from CDC making its way around.
CDC new numbers...from CNN
The CDC also says its "best estimate" is that 0.4% of people who show symptoms and have Covid-19 will die, and the agency estimates that 40% of coronavirus transmission is occurring before people feel sick.
Under the most severe of the five scenarios outlined -- not the agency's "best estimate" -- the CDC lists a symptomatic case fatality ratio of 0.01, meaning that 1% of people overall with Covid-19 and symptoms would die.
From....Jack Sullum
One glaring problem with those worst-case scenarios was the counterfactual assumption that people would carry on as usual in the face of the pandemic—that they would not take voluntary precautions such as avoiding crowds, minimizing social contact, working from home, wearing masks, and paying extra attention to hygiene.
Best Estimate....wait for it. 0.3%. Hell yea!

Closeted racist af Democrats are a scourge and must be removed from the body politic. Why does Ralph Northam still have a job?
Re: All things CoronaVirus
I am not defending anything - just commenting on a factual matter (giving up the dog and getting fired and why). Yes her behavior was the instigating factor - but the pressure from the outside on FT after merely putting her on administrative leave changed some minds at FT. And that pressure was because the company did not just immediately fire her.youthathletics wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 7:03 pmYou sound like you are defending her and saying she was gonna get axed anyway...as if her behavior had nothing to do with it? his best attribute is the governorship is only one term.
Re: All things Chinese CoronaVirus
The part that gets me about these Governors without masks, or family members out there ignoring their States' virus rules and guidelines is....it's not like these idiots don't have full time staffers helping them execute their visions.
And man, it sure is deflating seeing these people wholly incapable of leading by example.
And then you wonder why there are so many Americans telling these "leaders" to get bent when it comes to following these rules?

The Fastest Killer in U.S. History
Wednesday's issue also contains a four-page wrap around the cover, including a Mitch Albom essay that calls this coronavirus "the fastest killer in U.S. history."
"World War II took four years to kill just over 400,000 of us. COVID-19 is a quarter of the way there in four months," he wrote. "But then, this war is not about sending our young men and women overseas to defend us. This war is about shoppers, church-goers, bar hoppers and party-goers, factory workers, hospital staff and police forces. A war of the Everyman. We are all potential victims. And all potential killers."

How is Amy Klobuchar’s husband doing with the Corona virus? Heard he got some treatment, just wondering how that went. Hope he is ok.
I disagree with some of her policies but overall she seems like a reasonable, genuine, good person. The type of politicians we need today- that can work across party lines and disagree without being disagreeable.

Calling a virus that originated in China as “Chinese” is not racist.
It’s a factual descriptor.
You’re supposedly a lawyer. You parse words all the time. You should know that.
