The fact that NBA teams are actually scouting Spencer and he has pre-draft interviews are very impressive to me! Hope he gets to see his dream come true!

Just announced on twitter, but Loyola Men's Lax Alum David Manning is coming back to Ridley to be the new Men's Strength and Conditioning coach.
Excited to see what he can bring in terms of weight training and developing our men!

I don't think I have ever seen someone so consistently see the glass half empty.
Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
I can’t wait to see the Hounds play against the “Dream Team” aka Duke next year. I apologize for thinking, but dang, how many players can you have on your roster? I just keep seeing Duke load up more and more players. Guess Coach D knows what he’s doing.
Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
With the guys Duke has on their roster and then the guys they brought in as transfers, it looks like the most complete team i've ever seen. They're definitely the favorites to win 2021...
i like who we have coming back but i am NOT excited to see that game in early March down in Durham.
Who knows what could happen 10 months from now though

I’m convinced at this stage that ‘11’ is a Russian bot account set up to always point out the worst possible scenarios.

Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
I'm very excited about the prospect of the Hounds next year. Given their lack of personnel losses with critical pieces returning across the board, I'm very optimistic about their chances. I think this team was improving week over week this year and would have been in the mix for a final four weekend run. I think next year will be much like last year A(and 2012) Lots of other teams getting the national attention due to transfers. Meanwhile the Hounds will return focused, with the bulk of their squad in tact, ready to do business. The National media will ignore them, due to their love of shiny things. They were underrated this year. Expect it to continue next year. But mark my words- sleep on the Hounds in May at your own risk. This team is talented and hungry. And they will have a chip on their shoulder and be dangerous (and deep) in '21.
Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
How many years has Loyola been underrated coming out of preseason from IL and USLAX? not only as a team but for their recruits as well. Gives me the idea that every year they have something to prove. Especially in 2020, it was noted several times by broadcasters in games that they think they can really shock teams despite loosing such big pieces from the year beforekramerica.inc wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 10:12 am I'm very excited about the prospect of the Hounds next year. Team will be under the radar and that's ok...
I'm bullish...we would have seen a lot of progress with the few young guys that were playing...you were already seeing it with a couple...16 and 45
Next year...
Return excellent "specialist" players in the middle of the field at FOGO and LSM
Return essentially all the defensive pieces and two goalies that will compete for time
You return your entire attack line that now gets to play with each other with experience (Olmstead, Kamish, Lindley)
If the few guys return at midfield we expect...Cox, Swindell, and Higgy...that grouping will be solid
Count me as bullish...they may not have the talent of the top 5-7 teams...but they're right in that next group of 5-7 teams...and those teams are always dangerous
Oh...and we have a great staff...so count me as ready for next year!

Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
I am the realist in this group... I see Loyola lacrosse for what it was this season, a rebuilding experiment. An offense without pat spencer. The greyhounds struggled this year offensively. But i do believe Vanarsdale will take what he has learned and mold this team into a competitor. I see the defense and the FOGO unit being the strength. And I like the addition of Staudt, he will compete for the starting goalie position.Peter Brown wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 9:29 pmkramerica.inc wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 12:44 pm I don't think I have ever seen someone so consistently see the glass half empty.

I have heard from many a greyhound player that the strength and conditioning was mediocre at best this year and there where alot of hamstring issues in the fall and spring.
I am interested on how Hopkins will be with new coaches, I do not want to see the dream team of Duke, and i like our chances against UVA next year.

Agreed, I’ve heard he’s a key part of this incoming class. I like Shaffer, but I think if we can improve that area just a little bit next year, then we’ll surprise a lot of people. Also very excited to see the improvements in injuries/strength conditioning
Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
Rumor has it that Loyola is in the running for Michael Gomez to transfer in from JHU after entering his name in the transfer portal yesterday. IL's No. 48 recruit in 2018, subsequently named #19 best freshmen defenseman in 2019 and #47 best freshman in the country by IL as well.
According to my source, he's all set on a school on charles street, but hes open to potentially talking to others.
If Gomez does come here, is this a good get, or will it create more struggles for playing time in regards to the massive crop of Poles and LSM's we have?

The rich would certainly get richer if he ended up at Evergreen. He will get a shot in 2021, but even if he sits a year, that bodes well for his development and being able to really learn the scheme, get to his new teammates, and hit the ground running in 2022.houndace1 wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 1:04 pm Rumor has it that Loyola is in the running for Michael Gomez to transfer in from JHU after entering his name in the transfer portal yesterday. Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
seems to me that loyola is picking up recruiting interest for their 2022's. There's a goalie from texas who's showing strong interest according to his profile.
When this 2020 class shows up - do we know any potential impact players from the new guys coming in?
I keep hearing Staudt is one of the headliners but Goalie lineup already has Schafer, Teitelbaum, Whittaker, Ferraro. Throw in Yowan who's coming for the 2021 class and we could have a serious log jam of goalies which is either a blessing or a problem

Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
I'm sure the 2020 class will have some guys that could make an impact and contribute early...why not right?
You gotta believe that 3-4 guys every year can break in and get true field time...this past year it was Kamish, Poitras, and to a lesser extent James that broke through and played significant time and contributed. I'm sure the 2020 class will have someone break through...maybe multiples...you just never know until they get there and compete with upper classmen....
With that said, with the roster returning, earning spots will be tough...but competition is good...it drives everyone to get better...and if the older guys are not putting in the time...watch out, a young guy can steal time...and if it makes us better...then that is great...
Go Hounds!

Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
I re-watched some of the games from the 2020 shortened season. The freshmen who got playing time in front of the sophomores-juniors include: Kamish, Poitras, James, Heuston, Sherwood. Taylor, Griffin, Teitelbaum in GK. That 8 of the 12 first years they brought into the program. I was noticing that while they did make some mistakes as first-years usually would, they made plays that either resulted in goals or an extra possession for the team. It's the little things that matter and these guys got those done/laxfan#44 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 7:52 pm I'm sure the 2020 class will have some guys that could make an impact and contribute early...why not right?

This shows me that the coaching staff has a lot of confidence in these guys to build another foundation for the next couple years. The 2020 class has a lot of strong midfielders which was really needed for this year. I believe that with the longer offseason these freshmen and these incoming recruits have to develop their game, will ultimately improve the team for next year.
For all we know, next year could have the younger guys get a lot more playing time and contribute more. I'm excited about this prospective

Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2021
I agree with everything that you say, but, IMO i think we will see a dramatically change in the offensive philosophy. It did not work this year. I think the coaching staff will review and see what worked and what did not. Our strength is our Attack but they are not Pat Spencer type of players. As i have said, they need help from the Middies to draw and dump to Olmstead and Lindley, they will be open. The goal is to find the Middies that can do that.houndace1 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2020 12:00 pmI re-watched some of the games from the 2020 shortened season.
