Re: 2020 Coaching Carousel
With many schools being on budget and hiring freezes due to COVID closures and revenue lost; it will be very interesting to see how job searches play out this cycle.
For the sake of coaches and their families, I hope (think?) that most schools will be very slow to relieve a coach of their duties in the current economic climate (assuming that schools aren't cutting programs / sports / jobs).
The COVID stuff is certainly going to slow down a lot of hiring searches. One example is Catholic; where the job became vacant March 6th (according to their website) yet was only posted on the NCAA website 5 days ago (4/16).

Re: 2020 Coaching Carousel
One of the things that everyone will need to keep an eye on is State School vs Private.
Amherst could already be interviewing and make a hire in a few weeks. Where if a state school opens up it could be delayed even further. Look at the SUNYs for example if one of those jobs opens for one reason or another that could be an opening that could linger long into the summer

Re: 2020 Coaching Carousel
Don’t be shocked of this opening closes another one.... I have no knowledge of anything, but Marty is a good coach and I can’t imagine him leaving the game.
June 30 end date is a bit odd though. Hard to think another school would want to wait that long to get him on board.

Re: 2020 Coaching Carousel
I agree that marty may have landed another job. I do think that it makes sense that the new place will have him start on July 1 (new fiscal year). I just wonder why sewanee would give him that much time to step down. that is 6 weeks of pay/delay.VTLaxGuy wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 3:20 pm Don’t be shocked of this opening closes another one.... Not a good hire, imho..
Re: 2020 Coaching Carousel
I thought Brevard was working to get the program some proper support years back, they can't seem to hold onto a HC for long, hope this one turns it around from them.

Penn College has their man, waiting on the state background check before announcement.
Re: 2020 Coaching Carousel
What's the deal with Sewanee ? They where the team to beat awhile back. Has the Admin. or support changed ? The SAA has been dropping off with the exception of Rhodes.

Re: 2020 Coaching Carousel
Word is that catholic has their coach. Read on D1 forum that Colgate assistant Sax is the new HC at Catholic.

That's a REALLY good hire.
Sax is a well known and connected coach with a great resume. Catholic got a good one here.
