Climate change is a giant hoax. In the ’70s, they were warning us that we were about to enter an “ice age”. Then, we were about to cook under the blazing sun of “warming”. Well, those predictions failed, so it has been renamed “climate change”.
We have to keep the general populace stirred up and worried.
Our planet has been cooling since 1998. Our government spends $22 billion a year on global climate change interests. That is quite a piece of change being pocketed by all kinds of businesses, so we cannot tell the truth obviously.
Warming will happen; then cooling will take place; that is life. What a crock.

You must have had the same science teachers that I did. Global freezing turned into global warming just like magic. Never question the intellect of these scientists and their climate models... garbage in... garbage out...they have given us the parameters. In 10 to 1000 years from now, their calculations and climate models will be spot on.Peter Brown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:32 amTypical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:27 amNahhh.... Denying it does not make it a hoax. And not every scientist studying the problem in the 70s were predicting an ice age.Peter Brown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:32 amTypical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:27 amNahhh.... The science and the supercomputers that allow so much more to be calculated are far better than what was available in the 70s. And now pretty much all of the scientists in the field agree.
So ignore/claim hoax at your own peril.
Re: Climate Change & The Environment
Scientists had been talking about global warming decades before the 70's. The Ice-Age thing is a right-wing supposed "gotcha" that mostly came from PB's favorite source - the media, based on conjecture.

The only thing I have asked for about a thousand times is what are you folks defending against? You can't bullchit me and tell me you all understand the science100% and then can't answer a complex question like... where does the science that YOU claim to understand take us? I will waste my time and ask yet again... How do you reverse the effects of of what you claim to be catastrophic climate change. It is not a difficult question, but NONE of you folks can answer it. Take a swing at it red. Tell me in detail how you reverse climate change and guarantee me 100% your plan will work. If you understand the science this should be a very simple question to answer. Please... enlighten me what your plan is? FYI I have asked this same question a bunch of times. I have gotten a whole bunch of flak about how stupid I am... but never have I gotten an answer from the enlightened and brilliant folks here. I ask you Red... what us your plan?RedFromMI wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 12:25 pmDenying it does not make it a hoax. Re: Climate Change & The Environment
I can ask you the same question I asked red... you claim ri understand the science of climate change. WHAT IS YOUR PLAN? I understand throwing trillions and trillions and trillions and trillions down the climate change rat hole sends tingles down your pants. WHAT IS THE PLAN TO REVERSE CLIMATE CHANGE AND EXACTLY HOW DOES IT WORK? Is that too tough if a question for all if you to answer. To be redundant... YOU ALL CLAIM TO UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCE. THAT MEANS GIVEN ALL YOUR KNOWLEDGE YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND THE ANSWERS. Or if we can be really honest here... you folks don't understand jack squat. If you did you would have all the answers. So long as there is mega billions to be made, you will keep shoveling the same sheepdip. Save the planet my ass. George Carlin called you creeps out a long time ago.

Reverse is not the correct word - mitigate/lessen impacts is.
Move away from fossil fuels much more quickly. CAFE standards jacked up not lowered like Trump. Make electric the power of choice for vehicles - maybe use standardized battery packs that get swapped out in a couple of minutes instead of charging.
Charge for carbon usage to price the total economic effects.
As much renewables as we can practically build.
Nuclear power (and hopefully fusion power as part of that) to handle what renewables cannot.
Less meat from animals (much less - healthier and less energy intensive).
Research into better batteries/energy storage. Research into better energy transport.
Make new construction required to follow higher efficiency standards.
They are all things that make a difference.

That is actually the problem, that we can't re-freeze these glaciers. Further, forming glaciers is a long term process.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 2:15 pm
I read your thread in the GW thread. I respect your point of view. My perspective is well known and despised by most everybody here on this forum. When the day comes that we humans figure out how to re-freeze these glaciers and put them back where they belong, then I promise I will be all ears. When that day happens I will stand in total awe of all you folks who believe you have control over what the earth will do. Until that day happens I stand by what I have always believed. Our planet will do what it wants, where it wants, how it wants and whenever it sees fit to do it. There will never come a time when lowly humans will ever change that fact. We should all be good stewards of our planet. When good people think they can dictate what the earth will do... when humans can stop a cataclysmic earthquake wherever it will happen, let me know how that works out for us all.
I don't think people do feel that we have control of what the Earth will do, but hope that we might be able to influence it.
One can talk about earthquakes, but we are talking more about atmospheric effects with global warming. The atmosphere is actually a rather thin layer and not very dense.
